One of the more popular cooling systems available, the radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. In addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure.

My original transmission cooler sprung a leak on my 1990 dodge pickup and a direct replacement couldn't be found. Etrailer had a cooler that would fit and do the job. Would highly recommend them to solve your problems and supply what's needed.

  • Complete Towing Setup Including a Transmission Cooler for a 2012 Ford Escape AWD 3.0
I would be happy to help you set your 2012 Ford Escape up for towing. You're going to need a hitch, a couple of wiring harnesses, a brake controller and ball mount. Plus the requested transmission cooler. Since your Escape does not have the towing package you are going to need two separate wiring harnesses to have a connector like the Hopkins 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket w/ Mounting Bracket item # HM40975. You will also need to hardwire in your brake controller since you do not...

  • Larger Transmission Cooler Recommendation to Replace Small One Where Fluid Still Gets Hot
The transmission cooler part # D13611 that you referenced is a pretty small cooler. Since you are towing on steeper grades a larger cooler would be your best option. If you can fit the part # D13503 instead of what you currently have this would be a much better option. This cooler measures 11" Wide x 8-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep. Basically the larger the cooler the more efficient it will be at cooling the fluid. Since you already have the hard part done of installing a cooler all you would...

  • Transmission Fluid Needed for Transmission Cooler Installation
When you install the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler # D13611 a little extra fluid will be needed. The last part of the installation instructions have you add fluid as needed and then drive the vehicle for a little while and recheck the fluid level. Not much additional fluid is needed unless much is spilled when you disconnect and reconnect the lines. Normally just a few ounces of fluid is needed.

  • Derale Transmission Cooler Recommendations For 2008 Chrysler Town and Country w/4.0L Engine
The Derale Transmission Cooler you selected, part # D13611, would work on your 2008 Chrysler Town and Country as long as you have room to mount it. I would recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, part # D13502, for your vehicle as it is much thinner. Part # D13502 measures 11 Inches wide, 7-1/4 Inches Tall, and 7/8 Inches Deep. You will want to measure on your vehicle to make sure you have room to mount the cooler. The most efficient and recommended spot to...

  • Transmission Cooler for a 2015 Toyota 4Runner Towing a Pop-up Camper
I have just what you need. The most popular transmission cooler for the 2015 Toyota 4Runner is Derale cooler # D13503. This cooler measures 11 inches wide, 8-3/4 inches tall, and 7/8 inches deep. It will increase the cooling capacity beyond what the factory system can handle alone to help keep your transmission fluid at a safe temperature when you are towing as well as when you are not towing.

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for 2008 GMC Yukon
A transmission cooler is exactly what you need to keep the transmission fluid at an ideal temperature which is below 200 degrees. Ideally, you'll want to get the largest cooler that will fit into the available space. The best spot to install a cooler is directly behind the front grille, in front of the radiator and the a/c condenser. The Derale # D13504 would be ideal if you have enough room to accommodate its 11 inch wide by 12 inch tall size. The cooler would tap into the return line...

If you already have a 4-Way then you won't need anything else, however if you don't have a 4-Way then you will need part # 118251 if you have the factory tow package or part # 118551 if you don't have the factory tow package. • What is Required for Towing a Trailer w/ a 2004 Honda Pilot
I looked up an online version of your 2004 Honda Pilot's owner's manual and it states that additional transmission and power steering coolers are required to tow. It also states that a trailer that weighs 1,000 pounds or more should have its own operating brakes. I've attached an article on coolers that you might like. The firs thing in choosing one is find a place to put it in your Pilot. The best place is always in front of the radiator so it will get as much air flow as possible....

  • Recommended Transmission and Power Steering Coolers for 2019 Ford Explorer
Yes, the general wisdom on supplementary fluid coolers for towing vehicles is that the transmission is top priority followed by the power steering system. The transmission cooler I recommend for your Explorer is the Derale Class III plate-fin cooler # D13503. This is because this cooler's 11 x 8-3/4-inch size allows it to very efficiently cool your transmission fluid a second time, after it is first cooled by the OEM cooler inside your radiator. The best install location is right in front...

This is a Class lll plate-fin cooler that will prolong the life of your transmission and help improve overall performance. The ideal place to mount a transmission cooler for maximum cooling efficiency is behind the grill of your 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis but in front of the radiator. With transmission coolers "size does matter..." Basically the bigger the cooler you can fit in front of the radiator the better it's going to cool your fluid. Between the two you mentioned the part # D13503 would be the best option. It's size is 11" Wide x 8-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep. For your size vehicle this is the perfect size and would do a great job.

  • Transmission Cooler for 2016 Honda Pilot
It is pretty common for aftermarket products such as transmission coolers to deliver performance that is superior to that of OEM components. Transmission coolers vary in their efficiency/cooling power and are given Class Ratings to indicate their effectiveness. Small is okay but bigger is definitely better when it comes to coolers. For example, a small cooler like the Derale # D13611 (about 11 x 4-inches) carries a Class I rating while the much larger # D13503 (11 x 8-3/4-inches) is rated...

More surface contact results in greater heat dissipation. I have attached two FAQ articles on transmission coolers for you to check out. When choosing a transmission cooler, we always recommend installing the largest transmission cooler...
