Perhaps the simplest type of heat exchanger, the tube-fin effectively cools a variety of automotive systems. The concept is simple: Fluid cools as it travels through the core by transferring heat out to the fins. The fins then provide the surface area necessary for sufficient heat exchange to take place, allowing the heat pulled from the fluid to dissipate into the surrounding air. Quick, easy and effective.

Works solidly, much better than the optional stock tranny cooler. It doesn't get temps as low as another one I've had, but it doesn't leak like that one either! Always keeps temps within acceptable range, though at the higher end of acceptable when pulling 7-8k in 110*F outside temps and hills. Be prepared to fabricate a mount for it, not a one size fits all kit!1679780

2008 Nissan Titan
i put this unit in my 2008 NIssan Titan pickup. we are going to take a 9000 mile trip this summer pulling a 27 ft HI Lo camper. The instructions were very generic. specific unit instructions would be very helpful. the grill was difficult to get out until i found a Youtube video for that. the hose provided was to short, so I made a run to the parts store. the unit appears to be well made. 368894

I used this cooler on a 2004 Chevy Silverado. The accessories were not needed because I needed longer hoses and fabricated my own mounting. I think the hose clamps and the hoses could be better quality. The cooler does work very well.1066288

2006 Chevrolet Avalanche
Super easy install. With the installation video on Youtube it took out any of the guess work. The hose could stand to be about 3" - 5" longer if you are going to center in the A frame of an older chevy grill (I have an 06 Avalanche. I had to offset to the passenger side to use the supplied hoses) But, you can get a longer hose easy enough. Just ran over the pass and back and no leaks. Looks good so far!

This is a customer service review not a product review.
Leeza J. was very helpful in helping me get everything needed for adding a secondary transmission cooler to my Chevy truck. I ordered 3 different items and the one item was not in stock and I was promised that I would be notified when it arrived. I was notified that the item was in stock 2 days later and I received the package a few days after that. Very good service that impressed me.377288

2002 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty
Easy install. But hoses need to be longer. I had to go to napa to purchase an extra 3 ft. The hose clamps that were included were limited to the amount of tension that were put on them. They would tighten to x amount then just spin. I had to purchase extra hose clamps that actually tightened.
Impressed overall.64593

Removing the front bumper/grill on my Odyssey was a must! Installation was pretty much straight forward once you confirm the feed, and return connection points. Mounting the actual cooler to the front radiator was the easiest part of the job. My Odyssey made two 650 mile trips pulling 2050 lbs with no problems so I’m very happy with the cooler!1647465

Great cooler upgrade for my 1997 GMC Yukon! Little delivery damage, but was so easy to bend those fins back to original shape so no worries! Nice that you had proper dimension measurements online, so it was easy to figure out what kind I can fit in my truck. Complete kit had everything I needed to get it done! Modified old cooler bracket little bit and that was it. Works great!1290391
Since your 2018 Chevy Silverado has the smallest engine of that model year, I recommend the Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit item # D12903. This is our largest transmission cooler for the 4.3L V6 engine with dimensions of 15-1/4" wide x 7-1/2" tall x 3/4" deep. This cooler will do a great job of keeping your transmission from getting hot when pulling a trailer with your Silverado or just daily driving. The Derale Cooler is made of lightweight aluminum. On your 2020 Ram 1500, the best way to determine which line is the return line on your transmission is to start the engine while the engine is cold and put the shift lever in drive for 10 seconds. Then return the shifter to park, stop the engine and remove keys. You will then be able to identify the return line by feeling both the supply and return lines because the sending line will be warm and the return line will still be cold. view full answer...
Thank you for the purchase of the Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D12904. In regards to the amount of fluid, there isn't a set amount to be added, it's on an as-needed basis.
The added line means you'll have to put in more than you would if you didn't have the cooler, but the best thing to do really is to put it in a bit at a time and check the levels on the transmission fluid dipstick. view full answer...
Transmission coolers are not vehicle specific, but there are some that are recommended for your 2001 Ford F-250. The Derale, # D13502 is one of them.
Basically, regardless of a super cool feature, you will need to choose a transmission cooler based on where you can mount it. The most efficient place is between the grille and AC condenser core(position A on the picture to the right). The second most efficient place is between the condenser and radiator(position B). In this position, it... view full answer...
I recommend the Derale 19-Row Stacked-Plate Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13403. This fits most vehicles with the 5/16" transmission lines, but I recommend adding the Derale Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting for GM # D13035. This adapter allows you to easily connect the radiator to the transmission cooler. Please note the linked product review and installation videos below along with installation instructions. view full answer...
The good news is that since transmission coolers are not vehicle-specific you are free to install as large a cooler as you have the room to install it. Coolers come in several class ratings depending on their cooling action; I suggest a Class IV cooler like the 11 x 12-inch Derale # 13504 you referenced or the larger 15 x 10 Derale # D12904. For either one you will use hose fitting kit # D13035.

To install the Derale Transmission Cooler, # D12904, on your 2008 Honda Pilot, you would take the long fasteners provided to mount the cooler. The most efficient place to mount the cooler is between the grille and the AC condenser.

I have a good solution for you but I do not have an exact replacement. In this case it will be an upgrade to your current system rather than a direct replacement that is likely to deliver similar results to what you have now.
I recommend adding the Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit part # D12904 with the Derale Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting for GM part # D13035. Here you will use both your current cooler and add a great deal more cooling power to the system to keep... view full answer...
The Insta-dapt radiator adapter is included with the Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit item # D12904. It fits vehicles with 5/16" transmission lines and enters the radiator with a threaded connector. If you do not want to remove the fitting from your radiator you will want to use the Derale Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting for GM item # D13035. I recommend purchasing the second adapter. I would be nervous and messing with a fitting that old.

The main difference between the Derale Series 8000 Transmission Cooler, # D13504, and the Derale Dyno-Cool Transmission Cooler, # D12904, is the construction. The Dyno-Cool cooler is a Tube-Fin style cooler has aluminum fins surrounding the tubes. The aluminum fins dissipate the heat from the transmission fluid in the tubes.
The Series 8000 cooler is a Plate-Fin cooler. Plate-fin coolers are similar to tube-fin coolers, but they are more efficient. On these coolers the fluid is forced... view full answer...
The best place to confirm the towing capacity of your 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 4x4 with 5.3-liter V8 engine is the printed owner's manual. The best place to mount an automatic transmission cooler such as # D12904 on your 1967 Ford Galaxie or any vehicle is in between the vehicle grille and the AC condenser core. Here it will get the most airflow and be the most efficient.
The second best place is between the AC condenser core and the radiator.
And third, between the radiator and fan.

All vehicles with an automatic transmission have a factory installed transmission cooler. It is usually located inside the radiator out of sight. The exception seems to be on some CVT transmissions or on certain vehicles where all the lines are hidden.
There are lines going to and from the transmission for the fluid. A line goes from the transmission to the radiator and then back out to the transmission. When installing a supplemental cooler the flow will go from the transmission to the... view full answer...
You can certainly use the Derale 24 Inch Frame Rail Fluid Cooler, # D13225, for your 1999 Ford F-250. You would also need Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings, # D13025, for the 7.3 liter Powerstroke. Any transmission cooler will could essentially be considered a remote mount application. I have included a link to the coolers recommended for your truck and engine. I have also included a link to our transmission cooler FAQ article and a video showing a typical installation.

Best option is to go with a supplemental cooler installed after your factory cooler as this will maximize the cooling of the fluid. For that your best option is the Derale part # D13504 which is a very efficient and larger cooler that will get your transmission fluid temperatures down into a range that will maximize the life of it.
Adding a fan would not be needed as the cooler alone will make a big enough difference. view full answer...
I can tell you that the Derale Transmission Cooler Pan, # D14204, fits most 1982-1999 model 4L60Es transmissions. Some models may require a smaller transmission filter to get it to fit. It will not fit on all models. The overall depth of the pan is 3-5/8 inches and the distance to the the 5/8 inch diameter cooling tubes is 2-1/2 inches from the top of the pan.
The exhaust has been determined to be a possible hindrance of installing this pan on models newer than 1999. If there were no components... view full answer...

The Derale Dyno-Cool Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D12904 that you referenced would be a good choice for you 2003 Chevy Silverado as long as you have the necessary clearance in front of your radiator and AC condenser. This product measures 15-1/4 inches Wide x 10 inches tall x 3/4 deep.
