The adjustable Yakima LongArm extends 4' from your 2" hitch to let you transport oversized cargo at either truck bed or bed rail height. The versatile load extender has a 60" long support bar that's perfect for carrying kayaks, a canoe, ladders, lumber, or any other load that extends past the end of your truck, SUV, or UTV. Constructed out of lightweight aluminum, the LongArm has a durable powder coat finish to ensure that it stands up to whatever your adventures throw at it
The LongArm features 4 adjustable positions, allowing it to be customized to your vehicle as well as the load you're carrying. In its lowest position (bed extender configuration), the LongArm lets you haul long loads that extend past the bed of your truck.
The two middle positions (rail height configurations) work in conjunction with a truck bed crossbar system (sold separately) so you can carry gear at bed rail height. This configuration increases your carrying capacity because it allows you to transport gear both in and above your truck bed. And the two available settings allow the LongArm to work with truck beds of different heights.
The fourth position allows the LongArm to be stowed up and out of the way, near your truck's tailgate, when not in use.
An available height adapter (Y01150 - sold separately) works in conjunction with a roof rack (sold separately) so you can carry gear at cab height. The adapter has 11 levels of adjustment, ensuring it'll be the perfect fit for your vehicle and whatever gear you're hauling.
The LongArm's crossbar extends 60" across and has 3 adjustable height settings, ensuring your cargo stays level with the your truck's tailgate or bed rails. Integrated tie-down points located in the endcaps secure your equipment to the crossbar.
Once you're done with your adventures for the day, kick back and pop open a cold one with the built-in bottle openers on either end of the crossbar.
The available crossbar pad (Y07417 - sold separately) protects your equipment from scrapes and scratches while hauling. Velcro closures hold the pad closed, and it can be positioned in the center of the bar or on either side.
The LongArm installs quickly and easily with a threaded, anti-rattle hitch pin. Simply slide the shank into your 2" hitch receiver, insert the threaded hitch pin, and tighten it down with the included wrench. This not only secures the rack to your vehicle, but also reduces noise and movement while the extender is installed.
For added security you can add a hitchlock (Y07235 - sold separately) to lock the LongArm to your vehicle's hitch receiver. The lock simply attaches over the existing hitch pin and features a Same Key System (SKS) lock core and keys. The lock can also be swapped out to make all of your Yakima products keyed alike.

Ultra-lightweight, adjustable load extender lets you haul extra-long loads at truck bed or bed rail height. 60" crossbar with integrated tie down points offer ample space for carrying gear. Rustproof aluminum construction. Folds up for storage.Just assembled my Yakima Long-Arm for my Tacoma pickup. Easy to assemble and adjust. Love that it’s aluminum and like the flexibility provided by the available adjustments. Wished the height in the upright position was a couple inches taller to better accommodate putting a canoe on the cab roof. Looking forward to giving this a try soon.
Bad instructions and flawed design, so can't be more than a 3 even if it works perfectly. So for the flawed design, this is not something that you're going to want to have permanently attached to your truck, but yet it mounts to the receiver with a bolt and lock washer. For the bad instructions, contents say 3 lock washers. No, it's 2 small lock washers and one large one for the hitch bolt. What do you do with the 2 small ones? What about the two remaining regular washers? Looks like they're used to attach the T bar at step 4, but it doesn't say. There's no room for all 4 remaining washer and lock washers with the short bolt.
The LongArm has been great for me. I especially like that it is MUCH lighter than the usual square tube steel bed extenders. And it’s easy to adjust to the correct height. The only change I would make is to the octagonal crossbar. It is almost impossible to attach a SUP or kayak carrier. I would have preferred it be round or even better, shaped like an aerobar
I have the a new GMC truck with the new MultiPRO tailgate, which doesn't lay as flat a the tailgates I've seen on most trucks. (It has a slight upward tilt)
The Yakima Extender has several adjustment holes, to change the elevation of the crossbar, but the lowest adjustment hole was below the level of the tailgate and the next adjustment was too high above the level of the tailgate. I tried contacting Yakima, to talk to their Engineering Department about adding a set of holes between the two lowest adjustment holes, but I was informed their Engineering Department wasn't working due to COVID and if I made any modifications on my own the warranty would be voided.
I ended up Ty-rapping a set of padded kayak holders, designed for an aerodynamic style roof rack, to the top of the crossbars to fill the gap, which also added padding between the crossbar and the kayaks.
I can't fault Yakama for their Engineering department being out due to the pandemic, but I also didn't want to void the warranty of the $[xxx] Extender or my new $65,000 truck. That being said, I like having the padding between the crossbar and kayaks and I love the Yakama LongArm Extender and would highly recommend it to anyone.
The multi-position LongArm also gives me the ability to change the position of the Extender from the full down position to the full up position, so that once I get my kayaks unloaded, I can change the position of the extender and park in a standard parking space, versus taking up two parking spaces with my old truck and trailer combo.
The LongArm arrived well packaged and without damage. When I unpackaged it to begin the installation on our 2020 Toyota Tacoma (5 ft. bed) the question foremost on my mind was “what tools will I need for assembly?” Yakima took care of that for us — all necessary tools are included! And now those tools have been added to my kit bag stowed under the rear seat, ready if I should need them.
The material and craftsmanship of the product is excellent. As this was my first Yakima product it would be fair to say that it exceeded my expectations. By the build quality this company seems to mean what it says about a lifetime warranty.
Assembly was very easy because the assembly and installation instructions were clear and concise. And it fit our vehicle as indicated in etrailer’s very helpful product video.
One question I had was whether or not the product, while in the upright position, would interfere with the view offered by the tailgate backup camera. It does not (see photo).
The LongArm, used in conjunction with the BedRock HD bed rail racks, will provide us with the carrying configuration we wanted, making it both easier for us to load/unload our watercraft, and provide storage space in the bed.
Note: We were looking for a way to carry my wife’s SUP and my kayak in the bed of our 2020 Toyota Tacoma (5 ft. bed) without them sticking up in the air or hanging off the back unsupported. We also wanted both watercraft to lay flat. And, we needed space to haul other gear. Because of the width of the bed we were not able to achieve that, though the SUP would lay flat. I was able to cushion the kayak against the SUP sufficiently and attach both to the LongArm. To achieve our desire for both craft to lay flat and have room for additional gear we purchased the BedRock HD Bed Rail Rack.
The hitch mounted truck bed/tailgate extender works perfect for transporting our 14’ Hobie tandem mirage drive Kayak. Its very durable yet light enough to remove and store easily. Its the perfect solution for getting our kayak to nearby lakes with minimal effort and no hassle. Great product
Superb website with detailed product information and support. Received the item quickly and in perfect condition. Highly recommend this company for your trailering and outdoor equipment needs.
Yakima LongArm is just the thing for Porta-Bote Owners with full size SUVs!
2017 Chevy Tahoe worked out well to transport from campsite to boat ramps from 1 to 20 miles away.
Yolanda, Josh, Jesse and Jennifer where great to work with!
This bed extender was just the thing I needed to haul my Hobie kayak around in the bed of my Ridgeline, it is easy and light to handle. I put the nose of the kayak on the Longarm and just slide it in a piece of cake. I am a women so it was important that was able to handle my kayak by myself and the Yakima Longarm does just that. This was a great suggestion by Hi Tempo Sports. I am glad I have it an would recommend it to anybody needing to extend the box of their pickup.
Well built. Nice and light. Very easy to install and remove.
Buy it!
Works very well on my 2022 Honda Ridgeline for transporting kayaks over long distances. Highly recommend using the Yakima provided threaded hitch pin to ensure a tight fit with hitch receiver. You can add an aftermarket hitch lock to the provided pin after installation for security.
Heavy duty. Easy to assemble, install, and remove.
Nice extender, easy to use
I have used this product for a year now and had no issues whatsoever! I use it to transport stand up paddle boards and kayaks. If i'm Kayaking locally, I can fit 4! See Image
Well made. I use on my Dodge Ram 5'6" bed pickup for my 14' paddleboards. Wish there was a quick pin option for flipping it up and down. As well as one for taking it in and out of the receiver. The screw holds it tight, but for going around the corner to the put in, it is a bit of a pain.
I bought this to help with my Mad River canoe, getting it on my cap and strapping it down. I have a 2018 Tacoma , 5ft bed ,and a Lear cap with Yakima racks. Inside the cap
I built a insert for gear and mounted dog crate. I compete with my dog In hunt tests and field trials. When I train and compete locally he is in the cap with the fans on.On long trips or in Winter he's up front in the cab. I bought the Longarm ,put it in the receiver and checked that it would be tall enough (no problem). I put it away till Spring when I would be using the canoe.I put it in the receiver in Spring and realized I was not able to open the cap (window and tailgate). Not being able to quickly get my dogs out in an emergency situation, or just stopping and letting them air makes it impossible to use.I called Etrailer knowing full well you could not take it back(it is still new).I spoke to Kathy last week and mentioned the Showboat. She was very knowledgeable I know now this is what I need.I'll call her 11/25 and place the order.
I should have done more research on the Longarm its very well made ,I have a ton of Yakima equipment (since 1990) ,everything still works, I'm looking forward to talking to Kathy I have one question for her regarding the Showboat. Thanks
Excellent design. Easy to use. Lightweight construction, worth spending a little extra money. Bed extender easy to maneuver in tight quarters due to light weight.
Shipped and received quickly and assembly was easy. However, order received short one black #8 metric nut. Bought one at local hardware, but not black. Used product already carrying 2 kayaks. Very sturdy. Just ordered 2 pads. Very satisfied .
The product is awesome! I have multiple Yakima products for hauling my kayaks and this one is just as good as the others. The etrailer price was great and after having some issues with shipping, which etailer representatives were very helpful with, my extender arrived in good condition. Assembly is straight forward for the extender and everything you need for assembly is included. I would recommend getting either a pool noodle or kayak cushion(available in pairs for $20) this not only helps protect the hull but also helps keeps the kayak in place. I have a Decked system in my Gladiator and lines up perfectly.
The long arm bed extender is perfect for carrying kayaks. It’s easy to load and unload, and yes you can carry four kayaks in a Tacoma. It also works great with lumber, especially in short bed trucks.
Excellent quality and meets every expec tation
The product works great. Loading and carrying my kayaks is easy and reliable in my short bed Jeep Gladiator. When using an above cab rack, the Bed Extender doubles as a load assist from the back of the truck. Start by setting Bed Extender rack to the lowest height setting. From the rear of the truck, use the Yakima to support one end of the kayak. Then lift and push the kayak from the other end. After loading, raise the Yakima Bed Extender to the truck rack height.
A tip for ease of adjustment: I changed out the T-arm support bolts to quick flip clevis pins. This allows for quick and secure ajustment of the Yakima Extender height.
Best boat rack I have ever owned.
This is a well made product but it doesn't quite work for my 2016 Ram 1500 and Native Watercraft Ultimate FX kayak. With the t-bar extended it is about 3/4" below the level of the truck bed. I added pads to bring it to level but because the ends of the kayak are not as deep as the middle, it ends up not being supported by the t-bar. I can strap it to the bar and there is enough play that the bar is pulled up tight to the kayak, but then the kayak is supporting the bar instead of the other way around. It will keep the kayak from sliding around or out of the truck, but I think I could accomplish that without spending $240. I might have to drill some more adjustment holes in either the t-bar insert or the tongue.
Excellent communication on shipping
we are older and the extender makes it so much easier to load our hobie kayaks in bed of truck and on top of the truck when needed.
