The step was ready to use and the carry cover was a great touch.

by:

Works great, box had been opened before, most likeley a returned item, when height for the step is ajusted it doesn't fit in carry bag

by:

TireStep worked straight out of the box. Just had to adjust for tire size and I can now reach my fifth wheel hitch. I like that it comes with a zippered storage bag so it doesn't rattle around in the truck. The step is painted black so it blends in with the tire which could create a problem. The only thing I will do is put some fluorescent tape on the step so I remember to remove it before I move the truck.

by:

The Hitchmate tire step arrived in excellent condition and works very well, accommodating my 250# w/o a groan. As per the picture, it also seems to work as an auxiliary table on my RV trailer! Kudos to ETrailer for the fast shipment and excellent pricing.

by:

Our truck is a Ford F250, with the step makes it so much easier to get into the truckbed, when the camper is attached.

We have been using the step to get into the truck bed, especially with our 5th wheel camper hooked up! Thank you so much for such good products. We even bought one for our son. He loves his as well. His is actually a 350 Ford Super Duty!

by:

Excellent!! I purchased the tirestep to more easily access the 5th wheel hitch in the truck bed. When hitching and unhitching I always needed to stand on the top of the tire to reach it. Being a Silverado 3500 dually it was a huge step. Considered other options but this was the most economical and placed the step in the exact location I needed it. The hitchstep easily fit my 17" tires without any adjustment. The product has no problem handling my weight and is simple to use. Unfold it, place it over the tire and step up. The product is great quality and useful for accessing things in a truck bed from the side. I'm glad I purchased it.

by:

We have one and this is for a friend. It is so easy to use on our truck tire when hitching to the RV. It is easily stored under the truck seat when not needed. I am excited to share one of your Hitchmate TireSteps to make our friends life easier too. Thank you!

by:

Works with my F250 like a charm. Folds up into the bag provided for easy storage. Gives me access to the bed of the truck as well as the top and the hood. Since I weigh 225 lbs I get concerned with the product holding my weight. Not with this step, it holds me with no problems.

After one year my step is still working great. It helps when I hook up my 5th wheel too. Wont go anywhere without it.

2019 f350 out of the box fit. Works great when pulling pin on fifth wheel hitch. Quick on delivery from Etrailer.

by:

It fits perfectly and easy to adjust. Quick shipping!

by:

This arrived very well packaged: double boxed, sealed in plastic bags, double desiccant packs. When I unpacked it it was fully assembled, just needing to be adjusted for my tire size and the height from the ground. This went very easily. Upon closer inspection 2 of the plastic plugs that fit into the tubes were broken like the box had been dropped during transport somewhere. Not the fault of the manufacturer as best as I can tell. The storage bag it comes with is the reason this is not a 5 star review. The bag should be about 1/4” bigger in length and width. The step only fits in one way and is nearly impossible to get in the bag. I haven’t tried taking it out of the bag yet!! Also, the bag has a closure flap held closed by Velcro. Mine only had Velcro on one side of the flap, therefore the other side won’t stay closed. An annoyance more than anything. But the bag definitely needs to be slightly larger!

We needed some kind of a step for using the racks on top of our teardrop camper. The camper has 15" wheels. Tried various stools, sometimes they sunk into the ground, and some broke, none were satisfactory. The camper has tight fenders and I knew this Hitchmate TireStep would need a custom fit of some kind. Synopsis:

Replaced the 10mm bolts and wing nuts for mounting the step with 3/8" pins that have the wire strap retainers (3/8" Wire Lock Pins with the thumb tab) which snap onto the pins to lock them secure. Worked great. Lowes, Home Depot, Tractor Supply, and others have these pins. The universal clevis pins that use cotter pins or clips to retain them could also be used. But then you have additional small parts that are easy to lose.

Drilled and deburred additional 5/16" holes (original holes are a little bigger, but 5/16" worked good) in the supports where the supports fit the elongated U that rests on the tire -- so as to fit a tire not so wide as an SUV tire. Worked great. Last hole was close to the weld. Used a bench drill press and small vice, not a hand drill motor. Careful layout. Later I drilled just one last hole near the weld on the side with no holes -- so you only have to snap it once. Just change the supports side to side.

To assemble the step lay the elongated U on the tire by starting low on one side and work it up to level position under the fender, rest it on the tire. You have to crouch down or kneel to do this. It would not fit going straight in, no way close.

Then snap in the long, vertical step supports, one side at a time, to the elongated U for a tight fit to the outside of the tire.

Position the step approximately on the long supports with one hand, install the pins with the other hand, and then lock the wire retainer straps to the pins.

If you want to change the height, the pins make it easy to do so. Much easier now to throw a kayak on top the camper and secure it.

Sorry, I'm old, long retired, and techy challenged, no photos.

Summary: very, very happy. This tire step is the best solution for our problem.

Of course with the modifications I'm sure the warranty is voided. I don't care, this thing is really solid. Super happy, as always, with eTrailer.

After a year still solid as a rock, very happy.

by:

Love the step. Works wonderfully. Using it to reach the motor of the 4 x 4 pickup. Was using a stool but too unstable. This works great.

Did have one slight defect. One of the plastic plugs on the end of the square tubing was broken. Top had broken off the prongs that inserted into the tubing. It was rattling around in the bottom of the box upon arrival.

Other then that great product.

Works great. Very satisfied with product.

by:

I carry Nerf Bar, what a name, in my dually always when hauling a goose-neck trailer.

I can easily, safely access the truck bed from either side while hooked up. I use it every time to check the hitch, safety chains and that mandatory electric dead-man brake wire.

Big deal for new users, even after a WOW, I want one !, Take the thing off before driving !! Make sure your crew understands who is in charge of that detail.

by:

Does the job as advertised. Useful to reach top of camper shell to adjust/install roof rack and rack accessories; also to reach windshield of truck for cleaning.
Be careful not to pinch your fingers when setting it up and taking it down. Extends your reach, but only from the tires it may be installed on. It is heavy and bulky, but comes with a convenient storage case.
Suggestion to manufacturer: include a "flag" for user to place on the steering wheel of the vehicle to warn driver that the TireStep is installed: "CAUTION-Remove TireStep Before moving vehicle!"

by:

Does as advertised. It seems a bit pricey for the simplicity of the design. I would exchange the wing nuts of the step adjustment to a ball lock pin or a clevis pin to make the adjustment quicker and easier.

still works great

by:

This step works really well for me. I used to keep a 4 ft aluminum ladder in the bed of my truck behind the fifth wheel hitch. Of course it took up some space and to get to it the tailgate had to be opened. With this step I keep it in the toolbox where it belongs and it doesn't take up much space. It works well over the ladder. I'm able to reach the hitch to pin, unpin, lock, and unlock. I highly recommend it.

by:

This is a great product! I use it to get over the fender of my dually fender to hook up my fifth wheel camper. No need to climb in the bed now.
I did put rubber end caps on the bottom of the posts at the step that makes contact with the tire as it can put a mark on the rubber. It already has a plastic caps that fit flush there but its just personal preference for me.
I would recommend this to any truck owner.

by:

Great step and I was super impressed by the strength it has. I was rear-ended by a big F350 truck and this step went right through the F350's bumper and grill and cracked the engine block, and the step stool looks new hahaha.

by:

This step has 3 width adjustments and 3 height adjustments. I used it on my truck to install wiper blades, washed the windows, and can reach the 5th wheel hitch on my Ram 2500 without stepping on the wheel cover. Much safer too.

by:

Great step, sturdy, and easily stored away. I'm #275 and it handles me easily. Great for accessing canoe and kayaks on the truck shell rack. Quick to deploy and store with it's accompanying storage sack. It has a good deal of ranges of adjustment and easy to do. Non slip step a real comfort!

by:

I should have ordered this step a year ago. Wow! So much easier now reaching my 5th wheel hitch handle when unhooking the camper. I don't have to strain now pulling myself up on the rear tires of my super duty dually now. One step and I'm there.Very well built and really sturdy to stand on even while over the front tire checking oil and other fluid levels in the engine compartment. Works very well on front single tire and especially rear dual tires. I highly recommend this tire step.

by:

Quick ship. Works as indicated.

by:

This tire step is just what I have been looking for. I have seen them on many web site but no one had the right information on what size wheel/tire that it would fit the people at eTrail had the right information. The other sites and people that I had talked to didn't know much about this step. I bought 2 one for a gift for a 1 Ton Dually with 17" wheels and LT 235x 85 R 17 that will adjust and one for myself a1ton Dually with 16" wheel LT 215x 85 R 16 and they are great for cleaning your hood to reaching my 5th wheel pin must buy!

by:

I was hoping to use this to reach the roof rack on my Honda CR-V. The wheel well is just a bit too narrow to accommodate this product. No problem, it fits perfectly on my Tacoma truck and will receive a lot of use on that vehicle. The wheel step fits perfectly over the tire and provides a safe and secure platform.

I will be happy to help you find a cargo bag for your 2010 Hyundai Tucson. We have several cargo bags that will fit on a vehicle with no roof rack. I have included a link to them for you. Since you need cargo space for the whole family, a larger bag would be your best bet. It is better to have a bag that is too large than one that is too small. The largest naked roof bag that we have is # RL100S30. It has an 18 cubic foot capacity. I have incldued a link to a video review of this bag for...
