  • 4 Adjustable cam buckle straps with hooks anchor the rack to your trunk
    • Includes 2 hatch anchors for full-glass rear hatch applications
  • 4 Foam pads on rack base help protect your car's finish
  • Rust-resistant, sturdy steel construction with black powder coat finish

Specs:

  • Carrying capacity: 2 bicycles
  • Weight capacity: 35 lbs per bike
  • Distance between bikes: 7-1/2"
  • Distance between arms (outside to outside at cradles): 16"
  • Carrier weight: 12 lbs
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.

The Express rack puts the fun in functional by letting you carry up to 2 bikes on the trunk of your vehicle. So you won't need a hitch or have to lift bikes over your head to load them on a roof rack.

Adjustment Hubs and 4-Strap Attachment System

 Hollywood Racks Express Hubs

The 2 interlocking hubs with hand knobs ensure a proper fit on your vehicle. Just twist the hand knobs to open the hubs, and unfold the base of the rack. Then place the rack on your trunk and adjust the base's support arms to the desired angle. To secure the base in that position, line up the teeth on each hub and tighten the knobs back down.

 Hollywood Racks Express Straps

The 4 adjustable straps with rubber-coated metal hooks and cam buckles secure the Express to your vehicle. And 4 foam pads on the rack's base help protect your car's finish from scratches and abrasions.

hatch anchors

The rack also includes 2 hatch anchors for full-glass rear hatch applications.

Dual Arms with Cradles

Hollywood Racks Express Arms and Cradles

Dual arms support your bikes and better accommodate women's, children's, and alternative frames. Rubber cradles with straps firmly grip your bike's frame. The cradles rotate and slide along the arms, so you can easily adjust them based on the type and number of bikes you're transporting. And you can use the integrated safety strap to help keep your bikes tied down.

Folding Design

When it's not in use, the Express can easily be folded flat for storage.

A security strap and a cable lock (sold separately) are recommended to deter theft of the rack and your bikes.

Video Transcript for Hollywood Racks Trunk Mount Express Bike Rack with Hatch Anchors Review

A.J.: What's up, everybody It's A.J. with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be checking out the Hollywood Racks Express trunk-mounted bike rack. So, there are a couple of different versions of this bike rack. You can get a three-bike version. Another thing to think about is, it is in kits that goes for a hatchback.

So if you have a hatchback vehicle, you would want to get one with the kit. Now, it's going to mount up to your trunk with these straps. You can just set them in place, they hook in underneath your trunk. You can see it's catched there, and that's what holds the rack to the back of your vehicle allowing you carry bikes without having a hitch or having to have anything installed on your vehicle. You can easily just throw this on the trunk, load up your bikes and start your adventure. Let's check it out.You have the pads here on the arms.

So anything that touches your vehicle will be padded, so you don't have to worry about scratching or causing any issues. The hooks themselves are rubber coated, so there's not going to be any scratches here along your trunk. And if you come down here to like the bottom of our trunk area, there's the pads here where it makes contact and the same rubber-coated hooks at the bottom, holding the bike rack in place. One thing to be careful with though, is that the bikes are really close to your vehicle. If you take a look at the pedal, you see how close it is to the back of the car. When I move it back and forth just a little bit, you see there's plenty of room if it does shake back and forth, so it won't come in contact with the vehicle.

And something that helps that out is this red strap in the middle, that's built into the rack. You want to run that through the frames of your bike. I kind of did a figure eight here at the two frames so that when I pulled it tighter it brought the bikes closer in together, which would bring that pedal further away and kind of hold them in here together more towards the middle. Now, another thing that keeps the bikes in place are the cradles and the straps on top. We've got rubberized straps. They're easy to pop off there, and then they're also easy to stretch over your bike frame and get them attached nice and tight.

And I'm going to go ahead and remove them so we can take a closer look at the cradles here. I like the straps, they're nice and thick and easy to pull. Sometimes you have those straps that are maybe a little bit cheaper, they're harder to get that stretch out of and they don't feel like they're going to last because they're either super thin and feel like any pull I could actually snap it. But these don't feel like that, they're easy to pull, they seem like they're going to last because I see quite a bit of thickness there with the rubberized material, so it's going to hold up.The cradle itself is just a rubberized plastic, so there's not much padding or protection here. So if you have a higher end carbon frame bike, I probably wouldn't put it in this rack. There's no protection, there's not even grooves for the brake lines and stuff on your frame. But otherwise it doesn't seem like it's a harsh material. It didn't damage the bikes we've thrown on here, so I think it will be fine. If you're looking for that extra protection, these cradles don't have it.Something to keep in mind is the spacing of the arms. I'll show you with a tape measure here, from center to center it's 15" apart. So why that's important, we couldn't get our mountain bike to fit over there. You see we have a bike adapter bar here that gave us that space to add the bike onto the rack. Otherwise, we weren't able to get these arms through here, there wasn't enough space for it. You see how it kind of tapers up here, and these are bulky cradles, so we couldn't get it to go. It kept getting stuck on this, and then you just find out you don't have any room and there's no way to work it on there. But if you get a bike adapter bar, then it's no problem, you can still get it on there. There was a little bit of work to it still. We had to push these cradles in like this to get it over the first, and then do the same thing with the second, and then when we set the bike down in there we had to rotate the cradles up. And that's how we got the bike adapter bar onto this rack. So there's a little bit of work to get something like that on there. If you don't have a mountain bike with the spacing issues, you won't have to do that. On our other bike you saw that I took off, no problems at all, it was just a road bike, fit on there plenty of room within the frame to get it all strapped down. So, some other things to think about is the cradle spacing this way. It's going to start off and be default 7 1/2" in between, so just keep that in mind if you have the bulk of your bikes, or things are getting inaudible 00:04:24, you can move these a little bit more. And something I suggest doing, is if you have the space, just move the cradle out a little bit more. That way it gets it further away from the back of the vehicle if you're having those issues, you're worried that it's going to make contact, or something like that. You can easily adjust that and fix it.The whole bike rack is made out of a black powder coat steel, so it's going to hold up to the elements. I don't suggest leaving on your vehicle all the time. It's pretty easy just to pop off, fold up, throw it in the trunk. I would do that, it'll last a lot longer that way. It also has a weight capacity of 35 pounds per bike, so just keep that in mind when you're loading up with your bikes. Now I mentioned how easy it is to get it installed, let's check out how we did it.This is how it lays when it's flat. You just turn these knobs, you loosen it, you'll see it separate here. We'll do that on both sides, and bring our arms out a little bit like that. So we're going to put the bottom pads here on the bumper down here, and we'll adjust the pads on the top. You want your arms to come up a little bit, you don't want them facing down, so it looks good right about there. Maybe bring out the edge a little bit more. There you go, that's a little more even. So now you'll line up the teeth, and tighten it back down. You want them to go into place like that on both sides. With those in place, we install our clips. So you want to kind of hold onto the bike rack with one hand, and then put your rubberized clips in the gap here between your back window and the trunk. So we'll grab on there, there, and still holding the bike rack I'm going to grab and start to tighten them down. We'll just pull them through the buckle, make it a little bit tighter so it can kind of hold itself now with this one, I can go do same thing on this side. Now we'll come back and add our secondary clips that go at the bottom of the bumper. You see how these kind of jut up a little bit more, so you've kind of got to work them in there. I suggest coming out here to a corner or to the side of the trunk, it's easier to slip this in, and then slide it down. Again, it's rubberized so you have to worry about it damaging anything. And now your trunk mounted rack is installed. I'm going to come back through and roll up our straps and the excess, and kind of tie it to itself to keep it out of the way. So as you saw, it wasn't that bad to get it installed and didn't take me that much time. I even did it a little slower than normal because I was just being careful. I suggest going around to the each strap and keep tightening them down so they all get there. Because you know, you get this one all the way tight, you got to get this one, this one, this one, then come back and make sure it's still tight all around, then you should be good and ready to hit the road. Well, thanks for hanging out. I hope this helped.

Review from a similar Express in Trunk Bike Racks

I cannot tell you how pleased I am with this bike rack! Because I have a mountain bike and my husband’s is a hybrid, I don’t think we could fit a third adult bike on here, simply because of how are bikes are shaped. However, it perfectly suits our needs and gives great peace of mind. We have used this traveling on highways for 7+ hour trips and have never had any issue or concern. It fits on my Toyota Camry perfectly and because of the cushions and shape, it could literally never damage my car. Spectacular product and customer service. If I ever need another, or one for another car, I will certainly use etrailer!

The navigation by vehicle made selection and purchase very easy. Product shipped ahead of my anticipation and received before I needed it for a ride. Installation could not have been easier and mounted to my 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser convertible without issue. Since I am a recovering Engineer, modifications are required (Note: for non Engineering types installation is flawless). great product.

Installation was simple, even easier if you watch the YouTube. Mounted the bike rack on my BMW, which is to say the least ... my baby. Not a scratch or bruise during installation. Mounted two bikes on the rack and drove about 30 miles to our favorite trail. The rack was simple to remove ... took off two bottom trunk straps and put rack in trumk. After ride ... took out rack and placed two straps in lower trunk ... snugged up and took off. The ride and to and from was in traffic and over a bumpy back road ... I kept checking ... bikes never moved. I always used a trailer hitch rack in the past but this lighter weight and compact trunk mount is just as safe and much less of a PITA to get on and off. I would high;y recommend this product.

Review from a similar Express in Trunk Bike Racks

Great bike rack that was easy to install and adjust to my 2012 Fiat 500 Pop C. Owing to its price, the bike rack boasts a simple design that functions just as well as any 'fancier' bike rack that may have more bells and/or whistles. It stores easily and I don't fear my bike moving or scratching my hatch-door (or any other part of the vehicle) during transport at all. As always, I wouldn't recommend leaving the bike rack on unattended without a security device installed. The bike rack is foldaway, and easily fits into the trunk space of my car when folded. It's a little cumbersome to readjust the arms for every transport, but I'd rather not give anyone the opportunity to steal or break into my car. Thus, I recommend this to any one who is an occasional bike rider who enjoys the hobby but maybe doesn't see the value in investing tons into transporting their bike(s) around.

After reading enough reviews and seeing their tutorial videos I'm quite happy with my purchase. I was able to fit 2 kid bikes and 1 adult bike without issue. With the proper precautions everything is nice and safe from scratching. So far I've taken it out for 2 spins, but I have no concerns. You can feel it's solid. For my needs this has been a happy investment. Called customer service do get some details - no issues (other then a 30 minute wait time, but I feel that's the new standard...) Would recommend to friends and family. Thanks for the great service.

A picture is worth a thousand words so this should say it all. The HRE2 bike carrier rack fits my 2017 Camry no sweat. It was easy to install and is well made. I will be using it for the first time in two weeks. Glad I made the purchase. I saw several in stores that were approximately the same price but were not as well made. Thanks for a great product.

Works well on my Hyundai Elantra. Easy to setup and remove, low profile when not in use. Holds our 3 bikes well, one bike being a child's bike. 3 adult bikes could take a little work getting them to fit, but looks like it can be done. Overall, very satisfied with the product given the limit of options for a trunk mount 3 bike rack out there. Highly recommend.

The rack was easy enough to mount on the car. I wish there was a more secure way of securing the bike on the rack. Rubber straps can break over time. If web straps were used it would be a more secure.

The instructions weren't clear enough for me because I didn't understand that it has to be at a 90 degree angle, but once I got it together, it fit perfectly on my 2012 Toyota Camry. I'm very happy with the fit and the strength of it. My bike stayed sturdy on the highway and it's easy to get on and off.

Review from a similar Express in Trunk Bike Racks

This is the second bike rack I have purchased and the reason I bought a second is because the first worked so well. Being in NE the weather can be harsh so the straps on #1 became brittle but that was after 10 years! For safety and being on the highway I decided to buy another. As like the first, this fits my car perfectly and I was able to attach it quickly and with no tools! Perfect for our bikes! In ten years I will probably purchase another! Highly recommend!!

I LOVE MY RACK! Very happy with my purchase. A definite must! I will add though. If you are planning on going away buy the extra lock and key they sell to make sure no one takes your rack+bike when you aren't by the car. I bought both and I am very happy with my purchases. Review from a similar Express in Trunk Bike Racks

It is the first bike rack that I've purchased. I received it today and i have already used it. It is built to last. It was relatively easy to put together. It secures the bike very well. You don't even need a security cable. All the straps can be tossed in the trunk. I was very confident of it's sturdiness on the first trip. It's easy to unload the bike and the rack is quick and easy to remove. It collapses easy. Great product.

This bike rack held my bike on a 3 day long move from PA to Texas. I never once worried about my bike falling off the back or running into any issues with it. It's sturdy and is easy to put on the trunk of your car. I would tie my bike down with the extra space on the straps just for my own piece of mind and to make sure they didn't trail behind the car while I drove on the highways. I highly recommend this bike rack. You don't need to spend $120+ on a bike rack to have a good one.
