Great bike rack. The cable and hook system is extremely strong and tight and being bike to open the trunk with the rack attached (but without bike) is a godsend for packing. Assembly is somewhat difficult due to Thule’s IKEA-style picture instructions. Watching the video is essential. Once assembled, however, attaching and locking the rack in place is pretty simple. Be sure to wash and dry hooks, bumpers, and car surfaces to avoid scratches!

The rear hatch mounted rack fit my X3 just as your website indicated - the technician who described how this rack would fit. I'm impressed with how well it is designed to be stable and to not impact the plastic spoiler above the rear window.

Review from a similar OutWay in Trunk Bike Racks

Originally I was looking to put a hitch on my 2021 jeep renegade sport for a hitch mount bike rack, after seeing that I would either have to remove seam sealer and drill holes in my rear subframe (this is not a good option living in the rust belt), or remove my entire back bumper off and cut holes in it for the factory style hitch, and still have a rack that is illegal and blocks my license plate/brake lights turn signals I decided to look at different options. A roof rack is a little too high to lift a bike on comfortably. This thule outway platform 2 takes about 10 minutes to install correctly, and is solid and holds the bike securely, and the rack locks to the vehicle, and also the bikes lock to the rack no extra purchases required (comes with 2 keys and plastic spoiler supports). I have driven 80mph over potholes and bumps, also on extreme hills and has held securely.

  • Best Trunk Mount Bike Rack for a 2012 Toyota Camry
The best trunk mount bike rack for your 2012 Toyota Camry is the Thule OutWay 2 Bike Rack, # TH45JV. This is the Cadillac of bike racks and it has features that no other bike rack on the market offers. I attached a review video of this rack for you to check out.

  • Recommended Trunk Mounted Rack to Carry 2 Bikes on a 2005 Honda Civic
The Thule OutWay 2-bike rack, # TH45JV, will work on the coupe, sedan, or hatchback Si models of the 2005 Honda Civic. The OutWay comes with anti-sway cradles and a built-in cable lock, and it has a curved shape that lets it clear most factory spoilers. It is also very easy to use, since the attachment straps are tightened with a simple knob. I am including links to the installation instructions and a video showing the various features and a typical installation.

  • Tips on Installing the Top Hooks on a Thule OutWay Trunk Mount Bike Rack and 2010 Mini Cooper
When I first got my Raceway bike rack, I had the same problem. There are a couple of things that you can try to get the top hooks in place. First, what works for me is to put the hook above the opening it needs to go into and then pushing it into place. The coating protects the vehicle from any damage. Another thing you can do is pull out some slack from the retractable cable and try to get the hook in at the corner or edge and then slide it over into position. This works for me when I...

  • Stability of Thule OutWay 2-Bike Carrier on 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Driven at High Speeds
The Thule OutWay 2-Bike Carrier, part # TH45JV, is an advanced 2-bike carrier that uses four high-strength steel cables to attach to the rear of your 2013 Grand Cherokee. When loaded with two bikes the combined carrier/bike weight will be close to 100-lbs, and at speeds of 70 mph that 100-lbs of weight will inevitably move around to some degree. Both vehicle momentum and wind will affect the Raceway or any other carrier for that matter. This can be considered a normal condition at a 70...

  • Installing a Thule OutWay Trunk Mount Bike Rack on a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
You may not have to open the hatch to install the lower hooks of the Thule OutWay # TH45JV. Usually on a vehicle with a rear hatch you can get the hooks in at the corners without having to open the hatch. You would then just slide them over into position. This is what I have to do on my PT Cruiser and my wife's Santa Fe and it works well. On a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee it looks like you would have to start the bottom hooks just below the tail lights and then slide them down from there....

It also has road-dampening technology to protect your bikes and closely-spaced, movable, arms for compatibility with a wide range of frame designs. It also carries a limited lifetime warranty from Thule. My contact at Thule verified...

I checked with Thule and the Thule OutWay Trunk Rack part # TH45JV that you referenced has been confirmed to fit your 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon, and the top clips go in the gap at the front edge of the top of the trunk, hatch or door. You might try opening the hatch to give you more space to let the clips make it into that gap.

Actually both of these models, the Thule # TH9001PRO and the # TH9001XT have been discontinued. The newest, upgraded version of the Raceway is the Thule OutWay # TH45JV. It took all of the great features of the Raceway and improved them even more. This rack is the absolute easiest bike to install using only 2 coated retractable cables instead of the 4-6 straps of older models. The Thule OutWay 2-Bike Rack # TH45JV that you referenced is a great option for your car, and is actually one of my top recommendations since it is lightweight - about 18-lbs - and since it includes locks for both your bikes and for the rack itself. • Fit of Thule OutWay # TH45JV on 2002 VW Turbo Beetle w/ Spoiler
Although the Thule OutWay is shown as a fit for the 2002 VW Beetle, I'm not certain of the fit on the Turbo model with the spoiler. I spoke with my Thule representative, who told me that they haven't tested the rack on a Beetle that's equipped with a spoiler. Therefore, they can't confirm or deny fit but my rep said that it was unlikely due to the design of the spoiler. However, after looking at several photos of Beetles with spoilers, I sincerely doubt the OutWay would reach over the...

I spoke to my contact at Thule and she informed me that for you situation there isn't a fix for your rack # TH9001XT. It would have to be a warranty rack replacement. Since this has a lifetime warranty you should be covered just fine. You will want to contact where you bought this rack from and they will organize the replacement of the rack. They have gone through every aspect of the carrier and made some great improvements to already great racks. • Will Thule OutWay Fit Porsche Cayman And A Hyundai Equus
I spoke with my contact at Thule about the Thule OutWay, part # TH45JV. • Can the Arms of the Thule OutWay 2 Bike Rack # TH45JV be Adjusted Independently
Yes, the arms of the Thule OutWay 2 Bike Rack # TH45JV can be adjusted independently to compensate for bikes without horizontal top tubes. Also, what makes this rack far superior to the others is the attachment system. It uses only 2 retractable coated steel cables to attach to the vehicle rather than the 4-6 nylon straps like other racks. This makes installation quick and easy and the cables also last longer. The cables store inside the rack so there are no loose straps ends to flap...

You will first need to make sure that the unit is not locked or partially locked. This would only affect the cables on one side of original Raceway 9001 bike rack. If it is not that side then there is likely a part of the mechanism that is broken so that the drum that holds the cable is not disengaged into freewheel mode (which is what happens when you pull the lever). • Will Thule OutWay Trunk Mount Bike Rack Fit a 2000 BMW 3-Series Convertible
First of all, whoever gave you the bike rack is super nice because the Thule OutWay is one of the best trunk mount bike racks available. But, what you have read in the fit information for the rack is true. The reason that it is not a fit for your 2000 3-series convertible is because Thule has determined that the rack cannot be safely mounted to the back of the vehicle. Yakima does offer some racks that will fit the convertible models. I have included a link to them for you.
