Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.
The Thule Passage offers an affordable, safe way to transport two bikes without a hitch. The Passage mounts to the rear of your vehicle with six integrated straps and Thule's patented Fit Dial system, which adjusts the rack base to ensure a snug fit.
The Passage includes cushioned anti-sway cradles with Thule's No-Sway Cage accessories to prevent bike-to-bike contact during transport. The anti-sway cradles also keep your bikes from making contact with the vehicle.
The carrier's dual support arms provide stability for your bikes during transit, and the arms conveniently fold down when not in use for additional rear clearance and easy storage.

This trunk bike rack safely transports 2 bikes to your favorite spot. Securely mounts to the rear of your vehicle using the Fit Dial adjustment system and multiple straps. Anti-sway cradles hold bikes by the frame and reduce movement while driving.Excellent quality. Easy assembly with clear instructions. Stable attachment to vehicle. The bike(s) are secure on the rack. I do have to remove the front wheel of my bike for transport because it rests too low to the ground. I purchased this bike rack so I can take my bike to different areas of town for my daily ride. I am very pleased with the price, processing and delivery of my purchase from etrailer.com.
My Thule bike rack has worked well over the past year mounted on my Hyundai Elantra GT. Pretty easy to mount whenever I need it, and I do appreciate how the carry arms can be folded down. I will say, however, that as a woman rider it is extremely annoying how bike racks are only made for grown men. So women and children are left struggling. I only use my rack for me and my kid, and it is super challenging to load the bikes onto the arms (and an adapter works for my bike but not for a kid's bike).
Excellent and prompt customer service!
When I first ordered my product it wasn’t in stock— staff were quick to let me know and offered me comparable products.
I ended up waiting for my original order and shipping quick and they stayed in touch with ideas!
Thule: The instructions
could be a little more detailed. I ended up watching YouTube videos to help me instal.
Overall it was easy, and this was the first rack I’ve ever installed and I did it by myself!
I was surprised to learn the bike rack is in no way secured inside your vehicle, so.. I store it in my garage when it’s on.
Excellent product!! Solid and well made The anti-sway bar will keep my bikes from moving around while traveling.
I brought it too transfer my bikes too different walking and bike trails here and around Nashville, Tn. It’s definitely better than trying too put my bike in my car. I’ve installed the Thule Passage 2 bike carrier- trunk mount on my 2005 infinit G35, I’ve taken some pictures of my installation can you tell me if it’s correct? Thanks
I used once and I had to install it incorrectly to make it work. In order to hold the rack in place there are hooks that must be inserted on both sides of the trunk in the opening between the car body and the trunk lid. There was sufficient space on the left side, but not the right. By not able to insert the right hook, the rack could fall off. The rack design is good if there is a space on both sides of the trunk lid.
I am thoroughly impressed. My chosen product was out of stock when I ordered it. Someone immediately contacted me with options, with a no pressure option of just waiting for my chosen rack. I just received it yesterday and it's great. I got the Thule Passage II and it's a perfect fit for my Buick Encore. It took 10 or 15 minutes to install and it's very stable.
Ordered online, it shipped the same day. Received it 3 days later. There is a little assembly, but, pretty simple. It took me less than 15 minutes to install and no tools were needed. It is adjustable to be used on many different auto types, but, the instructions were very clear about how to adjust it to fit my 2011 Ford Edge.
I have used it twice so far to transport my bike. There are a couple of items that are inherent in the design, not a flaw, but, you need to be aware of them. First, you can't use rear window wipers. Second, the back-up alarm goes nuts because it registers a bike less than 6 inches behind you (I tolerate it for the few seconds it takes to back out of my driveway or out of a parking lot). Third, there is a little flexibility, it is held on with straps and clamps, not bolts, so, it bounces a little when you go over bumps or make sharp turns, however, it holds the bike fast to the frame and stays on the car. I use mine to transport my bike on short trips around town to bike trails. On a long trip I would suggest checking that the straps remain tight from time to time during the drive.
I have provided a link that shows all of the trunk mount bike racks that are confirmed as a fit for your 2013 Ford Edge.
--Positive:
The product is well thought out and works for a wide range of automotive vehicles. It comes with interesting dampers that i think work.
Instructions seem to be translated from another language, but are quite good, accompanying pictures make installation straightforward.
A test drive over speed bumps shows that the rack will support the bike for all travel needs. It can be disassembled , collapsed and stored in the trunk.
Downside:
The rack is made for the classic triangular shaped frame: horizontal cross bar, "male" bike. For bikes without the horizontal bar, mounting is a little less satisfactory. Such a bike can only be mounted on the outside mounts. Cannot use the damper on one side. Picture shows the mounting.
as to a design solution, maybe brackets could be replaced with smaller profile, some adjustability? however, as it is, vibration control is good and adjustability with smaller profile would have vibration concerns.
Fantastic! I drive a Dodge Journey Crew 2012 and it fit very well. I couldn't even tell you how long I searched for a bike rack that held two bikes and that fit my big SUV and that was relatively low priced, so this was perfect! I usually never write reviews but I had to because this bike rack held two bikes on it with no incident during my 4 day non stop driving cross-country trip on multiple types of terrain. I was super impressed with how well this held up. Very happy with my purchase! (:
I purchased this as a gift for my boyfriend on his birthday last year. We are both very satisfied with the quality and performance of the Thule Trunk Bike Rack. It is exceedingly easy to set up and use and has allowed us many fun trips with our bikes. Additionally, my experience using etrailer was excellent. The site offered the best price for this product, and made it easy to find a rack suitable for the exact year and make of my vehicle. My order arrived quickly and in time to be wrapped for the occasion. Highly recommend!
When we bought our 2013 Explorer, there was no bike rack available that would fit it. We were thrilled to find this rack for our car. The instructions were easy to follow and the rack performed as expected. During the 100 miles from home to college, we could see our child's bike out that back window sitting solidly in place.
The e-trailer video helped me easily install my new rack -- my first time handling a bike rack. Elegant success! And your order/shipping/delivery/follow-up service is excellent -- above par. Thank you!
Yes it will, but it will probably need an adapter bar. Without an adapter bar, the bike either will not fit, or will sit far off balance like in the picture from Melony. An adapter bar provides a full size, level tube from which to hang the bike. Thule offers one, it is part TH982XT.
--Works great! Took a few minutes to figure out how to put it together and then also how to attach to the car. But its quick and convenient to pop on and off the car. Keeps the bike secure and doesn't bounce around a lot. I was skeptical about just straps holding on, but I double and triple check each time I put it on the car to make sure its tight and tie the straps so it cannot loosen up.
Hi, For starters, we installed the bike rack, put 2 bikes on it, took it to the mountains and had a blast mountain bike riding:-) Yes!!!! It definitely works, but..... you will need a very strong person to twist the sections that hold the bike (or should I say reef) to move them into a position so they are not so close together or you will not be able to get 2 bikes on them. In videos it looked like a breeze to twist them into place... but not so. It took some serious elbow grease but is possible ...so if at first you don't succeed get a body builder to take a shot at it. You could even get several and offer a reward for whoever can budge them:-|...and for the spiritual among us... you can also pray and bring God into the picture and get some angelic muscle on it, bless it, pray over it, dedicate it to God, etc. ...and remember... when in a parking lot remove it and put it in the trunk so it will still be there when you get back. If you do decide to hire your family, friends and neighbors to move the pieces apart to get the bikes to fit, get it on video... this could be good!!:-).. it could go viral, it could pay for itself!!!
Used it to carry a couple bikes on a Prius V, and it worked very well. Once the top straps are adjusted correctly, I can leave them alone and only have to make adjustments on the combination side and bottom strap to attach and detach the unit.
This bike rack works great. I have only traveled around 600 miles with my bike, but have had zero issues. It seems like the straps don't really get tight when I mount the rack on my trunk, but they remain intact and there is no issue with them becoming loose in transit at 75 mph travel. There is no noise detectable in the cabin of the car. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a car bike rack.
The carrier works fine on larger (adult) sized bikes, but 20" kids bikes barely fit on the forks due to their spacing and their large plastic saddles and straps, and they only fit on the outermost saddles. This is probably true of most fork-type carriers, but customers need to be aware that the carrier won't fit more than one 20" bike on it. In general, I 'm happy with the carrier. One other note, after mounting it on the car and loading the bikes on it, retighten the straps holding it to the vehicle, and stop and do so again after driving a few miles, as they stretch a little under initial load.
After a bad experience with a previous bike rack in high winds (not a Thule), we were very leery about bike racks. This one passes every test! We live in a state with high winds- this rack weathered 50+ mile wind gusts with ease. It was easily installed on our Buick Encore-VERY pleased with this rack! I have no qualms about taking this bike anywhere we go! Thanks!
Actually I had trouble fitting it on my rav 4 . I had so much trouble I went to academy and bought the cheap Bell 200. It was clearly inferior but it gave me the clue to attach the bottom clasps beneath the car so I did use yours. However though the fit seemed perfect when I put the bikes on the roll never touched the glass. We were up against a time crunch so we stopped the whole thing to the roof rack.
This has been a great solution to carrying our two bikes on our Prius. I do have to take off the front tires as the Prius sits close to the ground but with the quick release tires this is not much of a problem. The rack itself keeps the bikes very secure and stable.
Was fairly easy to figure out and put together. Mounting it to my 2010 Exuinox was a little time consuming doing it alone, but all in all it was worth the time. Held our two bikes very well. I would recommend this product to others looking for a more economical way to transport bikes other than having to install a receiver that hitches to a bike rack.
I received the bike rack in a dented box this afternoon. After taking inventory to ensure nothing was missing, I began to assemble. Very comprehensive instructions, in four languages as well as a list of vehicles and the recommended settings for the arms. I soon had it on my Tiguan. I strapped my bike on it, had to create a strap to secure the front wheel to the frame (no big deal) and drove around the neighborhood to look for slippage or other potential failures. None found. Swerved around and braked hard and the rack held firm. I look forward to visiting the 85 miles of bike trails San Antonio has around the town.
Overall process was amazing. Got my bike rack delivered earlier than expected and communication with staff was great. Cannot praise etrailer enough!!
East to pup on and take off, stable-pretty hard to fit two mountain bikes though.
Bought this as a gift for my wife. It has never been removed from the box so I really can't give an honest review. My experience with Thule has always been positive. That's why 5 stars.
