Adam: What's going on everybody Adam here with etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the WeatherTech Under Seat Storage Box on our 2020 Chevy Silverado. So just to give you guys an idea of how much stuff we can fit in the storage box here, we're just going to go ahead and put all the stuff I would really need for any side job or anything like that. I got my bits, I got my toolbox, put that right there. I have a charger, put that in there. I got my drill of course, fit that in there.

Then I just got a bag of ratchet straps and other types of tools, going to put that in. So I mean, we could definitely fit a lot more loose stuff in here. Maybe another drill, some tape measures, a bunch of stuff. So this is, I would say, about half as much storage you would get with a toolbox but with this, we're just using dead space.I mean, yeah, we could usually just throw stuff underneath the seat but this is just going to keep it nice and organized. So if you guys got a tonneau cover and don't have a toolbox, this is definitely going to be a really, really good alternative because then you can have all your stuff there but go ahead and fold down your seats and it looks like you got a clean truck.

The material that we use is a nice black color, so it's going to go great with your guy's black interior if you guys have it or even any other type of colors you guys may have in your Silverado. It is going to be pretty low profile, you can't really tell when the seats are folded down, which is cool, kind of hides away and hides all that stuff. So you're definitely going to have a clean looking truck a lot more often especially if you have all your stuff inside of this box.So one thing, this is a little story, so one time I took a brake caliper off of a bike of mine and I put it on my dash and it corroded all the paint off my dash. With this, the material is going to be corrosion resistant, so if you do have any brake fluid or anything like that in here, it's not going to damage this box like it did damage my dash. So just be mindful of that.

You can throw all sorts of stuff in here and you don't want to have to worry about it messing up your truck or the box. The nice thing about it too is just the little things really. We have nice dividers just to divide in different sections so you can keep it as organized as you can or you can just go ahead and just throw everything in there. Everything you need for a job or something like that, just so you have it, but they do have nice organizers, so that keeps everything from shifting and moving around, which is really cool.So you won't really be hearing it whenever you guys are going down the road. So one thing we thought about was just comparing this to a toolbox.

One, yes, it's going to be less space than a toolbox, but two, it's not going to be outside. I know a lot of the toolboxes have great seals and everything like that, but it's still outside. And some people can see that you have a toolbox and usually I keep tools in my toolbox and they're worth a lot of money, so maybe someone will kind of your guy's car and be like, "Oh, I know they got some good tools in there," so they might go in there and try to take it. With this, obviously toolboxes have locks on them but these doors also have locks on them. So we'll have everything in the contents of this box, we can lock it in here, we don't have to worry about it running off.Another thing too is just whenever we are thinking about if someone is going to maybe run off with our stuff, all you really got to do is just fold this down and you really can't even tell if someone's just walking around the parking lot peaking in, peeking in, I can't see any of the stuff I have in the box. I can't even see the box itself. So I definitely think it's going to be a lot more theft deterrent than a toolbox. So first things first it's a pretty easy installation process but what I found to be easiest is to take the strap that is included with our kit and we're going to put it on first. So we're going to have these two little slots on the side and I found it easiest to just put your hand behind here, fish it through one end and do your best to get it through the other.Now, with that in there we can go ahead and put it into our Silverado. We want to make sure that the WeatherTech sign is going to be facing out and just put it in like that. We do have a little hump for the drive shaft in the middle of the cab, so just get to the little cutout right here nice and lined up, sitting in there in place, push it all the way back. And then we can take this strap and what I'm going to do is actually run it behind our seatbelts here just because I do plan on putting tools in it and we are going to get a very secure, tight fit to these just because if we do slam on the brakes or hit something, these aren't supposed to go anywhere.So once we do that, fish this through and then once we get it through there, we're going to pull it nice and tight. You guys don't have to use this little spot I'm using but I do think it's going to be one of the better options to get it nice and tight and tuck the excess back somewhere and now we're pretty much done.
