Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and we're going to be taking a look at the pop-and-lock tailgate locking handle. This is a direct replacement for your vehicle's tailgate handle, so you can have that locking function. It does come with two keys to get that unlocked, so it's going to keep it separate from the rest of your locking mechanism. It doesn't work with power locks. It's going to be a manually operated lock. But let's take a closer look at it and make sure that it's going to be the right fit for you.This is available in a lot of different colors, but this one in particular is the blue metallic, so it should match up with your vehicle.
And this fits the 2005 through 2015 Toyota Tacoma. So, as long as that Toyota Tacoma is that nice blue metallic, it should be a direct match for the OEM paint.Now it does include the handle mechanism here. This just works with your existing hardware in your Tacoma to get this operated. It does have a cutout. If you have a backup camera installed in your Tacoma, it should allow for that to still function.
And then again comes to those two keys and also some detailed instructions on how to get everything in place. They do have some pictures to make it a little easier to see what's going on. Something that I really like about this application is that there's no cutting or drilling that you have to do, no welding that's necessary, so it's a pretty straightforward simple install. You just need to get into that handle. So typically you can just have to drop down your tailgate, open up the back of it.
There should be some hardware or some small screws to undo, but pretty straight forward from there.The mechanism is made out of an ABS plastic for the handle, and the back of it has steel, so it's going to stay looking nice and also stay stable for many years to come. Again, this is going to be the blue metallic or blue ribbon metallic color, so that matches that factory paint. It is made in the USA and is covered by a one-year warranty.That's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the pop-and-lock custom tailgate handle.
