Note: When servicing your truck with Air Lift air springs installed, if the truck is lifted by the frame, the air must be let out of the springs. And if the rear of the truck is lifted during service, then it must be supported by jack stands to avoid damage to the air springs.
The air springs and jounce springs in this system work together to give you the best ride whether your truck is loaded or unloaded. Air Lift's LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate air springs have internal urethane foam jounces that protect the air springs and provide added ride comfort when your air pressure is low. The jounces also allow you to temporarily carry a load if the air springs lose air pressure. This gives your 1/2-ton, 3/4-ton, or 1-ton pickup air springs that are easier to maintain.
Carrying heavy cargo in your truck bed or trailer puts extra stress on your truck. Your brakes erode faster, your tires wear unevenly, and handling suffers severely. When towing, you might also experience excessive sway, bottoming out, and even inaccurate and unsafe headlight aim.
By pairing your existing suspension with LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate air springs, you can seriously beef up your suspension, ensure equal load distribution, and get the support you need. The springs provide up to 5,000 lbs of load-leveling capacity (depending on the weight-carrying capacity of your vehicle) and distribute the weight of your payload to all 4 wheels. As a result, the stress on your factory suspension is significantly reduced. LoadLifter's air bags are adjustable from 5 to 100 psi for precise support, and they can be inflated equally for front-to-back leveling or independently of one another for side-to-side leveling.
The air springs are made of high-quality, 2-ply, fabric-reinforced rubber. Most air bags lose air at the ends where the bag is enclosed with steel caps. These caps can rust and corrode over time, creating small holes. But the endcaps on Air Lift air bags are fashioned from corrosion-proof Zytel nylon, a material that is both stronger and lighter than steel, ensuring that the air bags won't lose air.
The air bags also have Air Lift's exclusive roll plates, which protect the air springs and beef up their load capacity. These sturdy plates help guard the springs from moving parts under your vehicle that might puncture the air bags. The plates also provide a larger surface area for each spring to roll on. The extra surface area gives you a higher spring rate at a lower air pressure, resulting in a better ride.
The closed-cell urethane jounce spring inside each air spring gives you a more stable, comfortable ride. Each jounce acts as an overload spring and engages when your current air pressure level isn't enough to support your load. So on a rough road, the springs will kick in if needed to absorb bumps and shocks and help you to avoid bottoming out. When the jounces support a load, they adjust progressively - the more weight you pile on, the stiffer they become. The urethane material engages more smoothly than rubber jounces so you get a less jerky ride.
Because these jounces are taller than your factory jounce bumpers, they engage sooner than your factory jounces would to provide better support. And if the LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate air springs have insufficient or zero air pressure, the internal jounces will help to temporarily support your suspension and protect it from damage until you can repair or adjust the air spring system.
This system installs with the included brackets and hardware. Just mount the springs, inflate them, and ride. To inflate the LoadLifter springs, you just have to pump in air through the inflation valves. A line kit is included with the springs so that you can install the manual inflation valves (one for each spring). These are typically mounted on the bumper but can be installed anywhere that is easily accessible. If you want to make the springs even easier to use, you can get a compressor and gauge system (sold separately) that allows you to monitor and adjust the springs from the cab of your truck.
Along with a lifetime warranty that has no mileage restrictions, Air Lift offers a 60-day satisfaction guarantee. Just install and use LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate springs for 60 days, and if you are not satisfied at the end of this time, you can remove and return them for a full refund.

Hey everyone, Ryan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be checking out the line of Airlift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs for the rear axle. And these ones are going to have the internal jounce bumpers. Being that these are all custom fit for every particular vehicle, you wanna be sure to use our fit guide, put in your vehicle's information and make sure you get the right kit for your particular truck. For those of you that are pulling heavy trailers around or hauling heavy loads, we've probably come to realize that your suspension could use a little bit of help. And that's exactly what these are gonna do.
Without 'em, a lot of times, you might notice your truck squatting or sagging when you have that load back there and that's kind of putting unnecessary wear and tear on your suspension components. What a lot of people notice too, myself included, is a lot of increased body roll. Meaning when you're hauling that load and you're making those turns, what tends to happen is a vehicle almost feels top heavy, right So it wants to lean and it's super slow to recover and you know, it's just not ideal. Don't make for a comfortable towing experience or anything like that. Not to mention too, especially if you tow a lot and your suspension's loaded quite often, you know, it can wear out other parts as well.
You know, your tires won't wear evenly, you get decreased braking performance, so on and so forth. And so by adding a suspension enhancement like this airbag or air spring here, it's going to really help combat all those issues and make your driving experience that much more comfortable. Here's what the air springs can look like once they're installed on your truck and being that these are all custom fit, you know, your kit might look a little bit different. We have 'em on an F-250 today, but that's kind of a nice thing with these, you know, all the brackets are gonna be made for your particular vehicle. From my experience, you know, we do a lot of these Air Lift bags here.
From my experience just about any vehicle you put 'em on, they tend to fit really well and I feel like compared to some of the other kits out there, that Air Lift kind of keeps it simple, right Which definitely, you know, generally makes the installation process a little bit easier. But the way that they're gonna work, they just fill the void between the bottom of your frame rail and the top of your axle. You know, you inflate these full of air and that's how they're gonna provide the support and that little bit of extra cushion there if you will, to keep your truck level and reduce the body roll and help unload the suspension a little bit. You can adjust these from 5 PSI all the way up to 100 PSI so you can really dial in, you know, to your particular load, if you're hauling something lighter one day, you might need 10 pounds there. If you got something super heavy, you might need 60, 70, 80+.
A lot of people find themselves somewhere in the middle, that usually seems to be a a pretty sweet spot as far as that goes. And these are gonna have a load carrying capacity of up to 5,000 pounds. So that's just how much weight the bags can handle. That doesn't mean if you put these on, you're gonna increase your truck's overall weight carrying capacity. We do get a lot of questions about people asking if air springs are gonna be compatible with embed hitches, so your fifth wheels and your goosenecks, things like that. It makes sense because if you have a trailer that is a gooseneck or a fifth wheel, chances are pretty good, it weighs quite a bit, it makes sense to want an enhancement like this and the vast majority of the time, I'd say 9 times out of 10, the bags are gonna be compatible with 'em. Good example here today on our Ford, we have the embed, the embed factory puck system and ours went up without any issues there, didn't interfere anything. I feel like Air Lift does a pretty good job of keeping that type of thing in consideration and making their brackets where they are gonna be compatible. So like I said, chances are pretty good you should be in good shape and usually if not, you can find that information on the tech tip section on the webpage, there are a couple of different ways you can adjust the pressures in your bags. One of 'em being just good old manual inflation valves and how we have it set up, you can adjust each bag individually, so just take your air hose and fill 'em up to the desired pressure. I wanna mention this bracket where I have these mounted, that's not included. This is actually a Firestone bracket that I like to use a lot just 'cause it zip ties to the hitch or another component. But you can always mount these up, you know, a lot of times, replace your license plate screws or really get creative and Air Lift has several suggestions that you can do or if you don't want to try to get 'em, you know, if you want to do the manual inflation but you don't want to try to get 'em perfect on each side, right Say you really don't care about individual adjustment, what you can always do is get a T and let's just say for example, you'll have the passenger side coming in here, driver's side coming in here and then out of this one line, you can just have one inflation valve that way say if you want 50 pounds air in it, fill it up in that one valve and 50 pounds of air will go to each bag. So that's always something that you could do. But something really popular and something that I like always suggest when getting into a airbag or an air spring is a use of a compressor kit, which we actually have one set up on our vehicle today. So why don't we just check that out real quick. It's a wireless one. And this is a good example too 'cause a lot of people wonder if you can mix and match, you know, brands, you got an Air Lift bag, can you use a Firestone compressor or maybe even vice versa And the answer is yes. You know, if you end up using a compressor kit, it don't care what brand the bags are, it's the only job to fill 'em up and and let air out. So seems to be a pretty good compressor. Personally from my experience, I really like the Air Lift WirelessONE, easy mount compressors. Had a lot of good luck with 'em and that kind of brings it to my next point. So these air springs are gonna require that you have at least five pounds of air in 'em at all time and that's kind of the standard across the board with all different types of air springs to prevent damage and so on and so forth. So a lot of times with these wireless type compressors, you can set it up to where it'll keep a minimum of five pounds in there at all times when you're not towing. So, you know, it just prevents you from forgetting or running into any feature issues down the road. Air Lift does make a couple different styles of these bags. One with internal jounce bumpers, like the kits that we're looking at here today, and some without 'em, you might be wondering, well what's the difference You know, because they look pretty similar. Well the ones that have internal jounce bumpers have something like this. This is just a jounce bumper I had laying around. It's not actually what's inside of here, but just to give you a visual, an example, right So you'd have something like this inside of the bag. And the reason for that being, sometimes you know, if you can, you can get away with running a little less air in the bag and you know, rely a little bit more on this for some support if it comes down far enough. But in all honesty, at least in my opinion, these are just, they're more of as a fail safe. So if the bag we inchesre to potentially leak or something we inchesre to happen, when you're towing it down the road, the jounce bumper would touch the axle if you will, and provide support so you don't bottom the suspension out. The ones without the jounce bumpers, you know, you're really not gonna get any different performance if you will. You know, you share a lot of the same features, they're just not gonna have a jounce bumper like this one inside of the bag. There are a lot of different styles of suspension enhancements out on the market today and you know, generally speaking, they're all gonna get the job done and work and everything. What one's gonna be best for you is really just gonna depend on how you use your vehicle and what you're looking to get out of it. With an air bag or an air spring, kind of a good option across the board, having that adjustability can really dial everything in to that particular trailer or whatever it is that you're gonna be hauling around. If you don't like the thought of of having to maintain 'em or adjust that pressure, you're really not looking for that, there's a lot of other different types of things out there too. So for example, a lot of times you can get a Timbren or a SumoSpring with those, you know, for lack of better term, they're pretty much just scaled up jounce bumpers, usually pretty easy to replace. And how those work, they kind of give you support, they give you support when you need it, but don't whenever you're not hooked up, which is convenient, you know, there's no maintenance or nothing to have to deal with. The downside to it though is you don't get that adjustability, right So when you install an enhancement like that, kinda is what it is. And then on some vehicles too, there's, I guess you could say a leaf spring enhancement. There's some companies that make some that will attach a leaf spring pack and those are good middle ground, at least from my experience. A lot of those are somewhat adjustable. Still maintain a somewhat comfortable ride, provide that additional support. Ultimately when it comes down to it as an air spring or an airbag, it'll be the best option for you. You know, I feel like that's gonna be for you to decide and how you plan on using your vehicle and towing and everything like that. But hopefully today we gave you a little bit of insight and hopefully make that decision a little bit easier on you. But with that said, I think they'll about do it for our look at of the line of Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs with internal jounce bumpers for the rear axle.

Purchased for my 2019 Silverado 3500HD. I've not had long-term use of it yet, but based on other reviews I anticipate everything will function well for many miles to come.
One thing I wish was included in the package from the manufacturer was the Air Lift Union Tee #21838 which I ended up purchasing separatly. The included air line is fitted with an air valve at each end, requiring you to fill the springs individually. For my use, I wanted a single shared line so the springs remain equal, especially in the event of a leak. I recommend the Air Line brand fitting as I first tried a knockoff version since it was more quickly available, but the entire 5-pack leaked around the o-rings so I had even more downtime (do it right the first time...).
I also have a B&W gooseneck wheel hitch and the instructions call for drilling into the frame and using the self-tapping screws to mount the top plate. I was able to use the U-bolts over my hitch bracket at the rear of the plate, but still had to drill into the frame for the front due to the hitch brackets being higher than the frame rail. It's an awkward angle without having lift access, but still very doable - just a tight fit drilling next to the fuel tank.
Overall, a great solution to improving towing.
I am not happy with trailer. The box arrived and was all taped up and abused. When I opened the box there was an important part missed. I called and talked to Joanne and she asked me to send pics of the box and I did and have not heard from anyone about the missing part.i hope you will be able to help me get this part issue solved.
Work the air bags Monday thru Friday every week since install. They complement upgraded leaf springs very well! Had no maintenance or problems of any kind.
Excellent material and the installation instructions were very clear and to the point with the best pictures that coincided with the written material. Only took me 2.5 hours from the start of assembling the air bags with the hardware on the workbench to putting away my tools! This is on my '04 dodge 3500 dually that will be handling my new Host Mammoth Slide in Camper that will set at apprx. 5000 lbs.! Beautiful to maintain level truck and to know that the springs are not collapsed and wearing them down prematurely as well as providing a safe handling truck when on the road.
Installation of the Loadlifter 5000 kit went smoothly, no issues at all. One of the best advantages of having this system on my F-150 is the stabilization it provides when towing our camper. I tow a 6,000 lb camper with an 800 lb hitch weight. I use a weight distribution hitch so the truck and camper ride level, as they should. The difference with the Loadlifter system is that it controls the bounce, providing a much more stable and controlled ride. I highly recommend this air spring kit in conjunction with a weight distribution hitch. When you don't need to added support of the air springs, ie no load, just drop the air pressure down to 5 lbs and you don't know they are there.
Installation was straightforward and retained the original suspension while adding the bags. Inflation to level the rig, a 2018 Ram 1500 and a 3 1/2 ton travel trailer, was surprisingly quick. The ride from Southern California to Central Oklahoma was uneventful. The bags handled the load and the road without sway or dip. Very happy with the product.
Order after order I have been completely satisfied with E-Trailer. They are always available for questions, and best of all they have the answers. The products they sell are first rate.
My last order was the Air lift load lifter 5000 item # AL 57288. After confirming the fit for my truck with there team, I ordered it. It arrived on time, and in great condition.
The team at E-Trailer know there stuff and are ready to help you.
Great product but instructions could be better. Simple things like identifying parts better to make it quicker to find the right part. Like in step3 installing M10 bolts, they were the only black bolts, if they said that it would have been really quick to identify them in the parts bin.
Better identifying info on pictures to orientate you as to what your looking at.
A zoomed out view every once in a while of where things are in relation to the truck.
In step 10 be more specific about the part your cutting, they talk about taking brake line mount X off and then talks about cutting a brake line mount but its a different one.
Installing Nylon Air lines - SO right off it tells you to cut the line in half ie one for each side, but you should first look at how the line for the right side where the muffler is as I could not route it along that frame rail as it would be WAY to close to the muffler going to the air bag. so I was not able to route it cleaner the long way on the left frame rail and over axle.
Last it NEVER says how to attach the air line to the 90 deg fitting on the air bag. Had to go to youtube to see its a simple press on but without saying that....
Good product, quick service. Took a couple hrs to install and very happy with the results
I have had rear suspension airbags on the last 5 trucks I have owned. There is no better system to control weight roll of a load in the bed or sway control pulling trailers.Be sure to order the air line "T" which does not come with the kit so that "T" can be connected to use only 1 air fill location to balance your load.
No more need for sway control bars to struggle when pulling your camper with this set up.
This is not a review of the product but a review of the site. This is sold for a 2006 dodge ram. So I purchased it 4 months ago. Well I finally opened the product to install and it is for a 2006 dodge ram 1500. I own a 2500. So this product doesnt have the proper brackets to fit my truck. No where in the descriptions does it mention what model dodge ram it is for. It also doesn't display anything on the box to show you have the wrong product until it is opened and you review the install manual. So do your extra homework to make sure you purchase what actually fits
I purchased the system for my 2013 Ram 1500 to provide lift and added support for the 34'toyhauler (6,000 lbs.) we were purchasing for our move from ME to NC. The system easily allowed the truck and trailer to remain in a level position no matter how we loaded it. Very pleased with it. Money well spent.
I have a 2011 GMC 2500 HD. Installation was fairly easy; must have patience. Instructions indicated could not use U bolts with fifth wheel hitch. In my case, I found with a little finesse I was able to install the U bolts just fine without having to drill holes in the frame. I have a Reese fifth wheel hitch. So far after pulling my trailer one time it works great.
After owning this kit foe a year, I love it. The install went smooth and easy. The app and the remote link up in seconds and it has helped with towing our 5th wheel. It gets the rear-end up so that it is at normal height.
That way I am not blinding people with my lights at night. The truck does ride more smooth with the airbags pumped up while towing. The only negatives are that even with the minimum 5 PSI in the bags, the truck has a more rigid ride when nor towing. The bags also raise the rear end up quite a bit, even when deflated.
Great shipping, instalation instructions were Great and Ride results as expected.
Air Lift air springs are good and dependable, use them for the last 25 years on three pick-ups always worked great. My complaint would be against the lousy packaging which came with two or three holes and all messed up, luckily all that was missing was one washer.
They were very easy to install. I’m very happy. I can’t to put my cabover camper on and hit the road . I want to say that Lance and Stacey were both very helpful . In my ordering they were delivered in two days . Love etrailer
The etrailer Air lift Loadlifter 5000 Air helper springs for my GMC 1500 truck Rear axle worked excellent, they are unreal and I wish I had installed them 15 years ago. I recommend to anyone pulling a large trailer to get these installed on your pull vehicle to reduce the rear end load on your vehicle and stabilize your trailer pulling vehicle.
I was really happy with etrailer and would highly recommend them and have to many people this past year. My motor home needed these air bags and I called the manufacturer and gave them my vin number which has always been what was needed for anything I have had the purchase with any of my vehicles. But the person that I delt with said he needed the frame number I said where do I find that and he said I would have to call the manufacturer of the motor home.So I called Newmar and they said to call ford I called ford and never got a call back . I called etrailer and gave them the vin number and two days later I had the parts and installed them the next day . Thank you for having people that know what they are talking about and making my experience a good one .
I installed these air lift bags in a day. It was a lot longer than I thought, but it was in the middle of winter in an unheated shop and only basic hand tools. No hoist, so there were a lot of up and down trips with a creeper. Very good installation manual which made the process easy. Very happy with the purchase.
second pair of these that I have out under my truck to air up when pulling my 5th wheel. These are pretty stiff even when they are empty. Work great when aired up and a load on the truck. Just feels like it tightens up the rear and making for a stiffer ride
just getting done putting my 5000 Justable air springs put them on about three hours I didn’t have any left I did them on the ground so that’s not too bad I’m gonna be sending some pictures along with us so thanks very much and I hope they work
Installation was easy (I didn’t install a compressor). Might be obvious to most, but remove the rear tires and it’ll be much easier.
Just a couple of pulses from my compressor (I use a portable that stays inside my van for emergency) and the van lifts right up. I was able to perfectly level my van and my trailer. I only used a lower pressure and that tells me there is a lot of lift left.
The ride empty is noticeable, but not harsh. More just on a little firmer side using about 5 psi as recommended minimum. The ride loaded is great, as there is less wander in the front. Note that my van and trailer were close to level and I got the airbags just to finish off the ride (I wasn’t having major problems).
Sara was the best too. She understood my questions and gave very informed answers. Very much appreciated.
These were in a LOT of pieces, but they work well. The brake line and electrical guard on the axle was difficult to get back on due to interference from the lower mount. I used the cradle on the bottom instead of bolting the airbag to the axle. These bags work really well on my 1500 truck.
