Specs:
Insert these helper springs in between the individual coil loops in your rear coil springs to defeat driver fatigue and add better support for heavy loads. Most factory coil suspensions have a difficult time hauling added weight. The rear coils may struggle with supporting the extra load placed on your rear axle when you're towing a trailer or using a hitch-mounted cargo carrier or bike rack. If your coil springs are totally squished under a load, the lack of shock absorption can be harsh on your backside, especially if you spend long hours sitting in your vehicle while driving to your campsite.
Inside each helper spring, a core of microcellular polyurethane foam adds cushioning between your coils to make your ride more comfortable. Each doughnut-shaped spring has H-shaped channels at the top and bottom that fit to the rung of an individual coil in your rear coil springs. The cushioning absorbs shock, but also works progressively to better support weight, keeping your truck level.
Unlike air springs that fit inside your coil springs, these polyurethane springs require no air pressure monitoring, and they are easier to install. Say goodbye to air lines, valves and air tanks and hello to maintenance-free suspension support. Unbumpify your ride with Coil SumoSprings for coil suspensions.

Get the cushioning power of SumoSprings for your coil springs and keep your ride comfortable. The wedge-shaped springs fit between the individual coils of your existing springs and help support heavy loads on your rear suspension.I installed the Sumo Springs in my 2016 Toyota Highlanderthey fit well. Total install took approximately 10 minutes.
I was very pleased with the Sumo Springs for my 2015 Toyota Highlander Limited rear springs. Was a little worried if they would fit and if I could install them myself. Turned out to be fairly easy after watching a few YouTube videos. It's important to get the springs fully released by getting the tires off the ground an inch or so. Be sure to use safety jacks so you don't lose a hand or fingers. I had to jack up each side separately. Follow the directions by cleaning and spraying the car springs and spray Sumo springs too with soapy water. Was a little tough getting them started, but once in place would spin easily to get into position between the 2nd and 3rd spring and also to rotate to install all the zip ties. I loaded my hitch with 300# on a cargo carrier. Without the sumo springs dropped 1 1/2". With Sumo springs only 1/2". The 300# simulated the tongue weight of a camping trailer I am renting next week. 1" difference may not seem like a lot, but I was pretty pleased that such a easy, low cost fix that will allow me to tow up to the 5000# capacity rating of my SUV. I didn't notice any difference in handling when driving without any weight. My cargo carrier also has a 500# capacity so I'm good for traveling towing a camper or with my cargo carrier. As always, eTrailer was great about fast shipping. Ordered on Tuesday and arrived on Wednesday. eTrailer is my go to place for anything auto related.
It helped a little. Easy to install, didn’t even have to take the wheels off. Really no other option for a Highlander that I know of to add capacity to basically a car rear suspension.
Everything works great! I love products.
Here's a shot of the Sumo Springs installed on my 2005 Prius:
Installation went smoothly once I unhooked the shock absorber and allowed the spring to decompress. It looks like it lifted the back end about an inch with a couple hundred pounds of stuff in the trunk.
Worked as advertised but were a little hard to install on my 2004 Honda Odyssey rear springs about 2hour start to finish
The Sumo coil springs helpers did help with the rear spring sag and subsequent unweighting of the front end when my 2015 Toyota Highlander is hooked to our 20 ft 3,000 lb Winnebago Micro Minnie trailer. The steering felt better after installing the Sumos, but I had hoped for a bit more support from them, however the situation is definitely better with them than without them.
Works great for what I needed. I had issues with the rear of the 2016 Highlander bottoming out when loaded (5 people, luggage and a hitch bike rack). After installing this, the ride has improved. I had 5 people, full interior cargo area, 21 cubic foot cargo box on top and a hitch cargo carrier. While I did get some sag in the rear, I did not have the harsh bottom outs that I was getting with a much less loaded vehicle before.
2015 Highlander XLE AWD. It works for what I intended. The hitch raised 1 1/2" under load. The load was around 1000lbs in the vehicle and a 250lb cargo basket on the hitch. If you count the hitch and misc items in the vehicle, the load would was 1350lbs out of the 1445lb payload. Without the sumosprings, it easily bottomed out. It does not level like an air bag system, however it improves the ride dramatically under load and does not bottom out. Most of the negative reviews I read were people expecting their highlander to tow a travel trailer. Not a vehicle I would choose for the job. Even light travel trailers have high tongue weights. Add people, a weight distributing hitch, equiptment and your payload is gone. The ride does not change unloaded. Until a better product is available, I'll be sticking with this one. Installation was very simple.
Excellent product for what I needed. This was installed on a 2011 VW Golf TDI. I had installed air bags on the car 2 years ago and was not pleased with the ride and maintenance (air adjustments) needed to keep the system up. I was tired of dragging the trailer hitch and mud flaps even with the air bags. The golf rear springs are to soft and allow the rear of the car to sit to low even unloaded. I removed the air bags and easily installed the sumo helper springs CSS-1145R. I installed one side at a time, so I needed to disconnect the sway bar and shock to allow the rear wheel to drop enough to install the product easily. The result is approximately 1 inch increase in rear ride height and a slightly stiffer ride.
They did not fit my 2007 Honda Element. I ended up having custom rear springs made.
Installed these on a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox that I use to haul fishing boat. This car seems to haul the boat OK before I purchased these. The reason I purchased them was I'm close to the weight limit on the hitch and hope they help with any sway etc. Installation went well, I did use quite a bit of hand soap to get them in.
Purchased product for a 2016 Toyota Highlander that sags when pulling a trailer. Toyota doesn't have a solution for this. The Sumo springs did help the sag but made the ride less smooth. I'm still happy with them.
Did increase the ride height to an acceptable level
Even with a few hundred pounds of tools in the rear just what I wanted to achieve!
I installed these on a 2014 equinox with a 4-banger. Took me 10 min to install, suv didnt sag as much when my small boat was attached. Ride quality was same as before. I sold the car awhile back and the springs went with. I would recommend to a friend though. My boat weighed 1000lbs total including trailer, dont think your going to be able to pull much more then that.
This product was shipped fast and arrived in a timely manner. The part I ordered was CSS-1145R, which I was under the impression that this was for the rear suspension. When I took the box out of the package, the front of the box says it was for the front suspension of a truck, and the part number on the box was CSS-1145. So I call etrailer and told them this and the girl on the phone stated that CSS-1145 was for the front or the rear suspension. Not sure why they would have two different part numbers if the part fits the front or the rear, it's kind of misleading and confusing.
Easy to install, it only took about 20min to them onto the rear springs of my 2015 Toyota Highlander. They helped level the vehicle somewhat and improved the stability when towing my popup tent trailer.
Fast installation, use rubber lube, slips right in. Combining spring helpers and weight dist. hitch, makes nice ride and handling.
Shipped and arrived quickly. I tied the installation in today with my normal tire rotation. The kit installed easily and about ten minutes per side. I used a scotch brite pad to clean my coil springs first to take off the rough accumulation of dirt and grit from190,000 plus miles. Then wiped down and left wet for the installation of the spacers. Once installed, I backed the spacers down to facilitate the installation of zip ties, the farthest one up first and then rotated the spacer up and did the next tie until they were all installed and trimmed.
Definitely changed the ride height. The ride is nice and firm and handling doesn't seem any different. The test will be when I next attach my utility trailer with a load. So far, so good.
This was amazingly easy to install. It took longer to jack up the car and remove the wheels than to install the helper spring.
Although the site says this product only fits to 2015 Highlander it installed perfectly on a 2017 Highlander. I checked and the replacement coil spring is the exact same up through 2019 so figured it would fit and it did.
These were extremely easy to install. No cutting, no mess. I did NOT have to remove my rear tires on my 2013 Highlander so that made it even easier. I will be pulling my trailer this weekend. The SUMO SPRINGS gave me an extra 2-inches of lift with hitch unloaded.
E-Trailer as always shipped with in a couple of hours of receiving the order,Great job Guys. these were installed on a 2006 Honda Odyssey. We towed our Aliner folding camper 1100 miles after installing these. hitch weight is 230 to 240# they seem to take alot of the bounce out of the tow vehicle.Very easy to install. If you have a need to carry heavy loads I would go with Air Bags.
One of the two SumoSprings did not have the holes for the zip ties drilled in it. I had to drill them myself! The only thing that they needed to do after these came out of the mold was drill them and they could"t even get that right, makes me wonder how they will last over time.
We overloaded our 2009 Jetta TDI on our trip to FL. Ordered these spacers delivered to us and easily installed in the parking lot while we were there. The drive home was much smoother and the rear end rode about an inch higher.
I needed to increase my spring tension so that I could tow a small trailer. Since there are no "heavy duty" type shocks for a Honda Element, I went with these inserts. They slipped right in and were easily secured... more importantly, they worked! If you are pressed for time, or cash, I highly recommend these for spring boasting....
