ABSGMFCC Timbren Active Off-Road Bump Stops - Front Suspension - 1,000 lbs

Timbren's Active Off-Road Bumpstops provide off-road enthusiasts with greater control over their vehicle's suspension travel. Using progressive-rate springs means that instead of a hard stop at the end of axle travel, the axle energy will be absorbed when bottoming out, producing smooth, predictable, and quiet axle engagement and disengagement. The progressive rubber springs absorb the harsh jolt at the end of axle travel, giving you a gentle ride the whole time.

Unlike your factory bumpstops, Timbren's bumpstops are constructed of a superior natural rubber compound, ensuring the bumpstops will continue to operate even after a lifetime of off-road abuse. And the steel brackets and disks are lazer cut before they are painted with a durable, long-lasting powder coat finish to ensure protection and long life.

Video Transcript for Timbren Vehicle Suspension - Front Axle Suspension Enhancement - TABSGMFCC Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're taking a look at the Timbren Active Off-Road Front Bump Stops. Now, these are designed to enhance the front suspension performance of your Canyon or Colorado while we're on and off the road. They're constructed of an Aeon natural rubber, that's going to make these bump stops much more soft and supple than what we get from the factory that offers smoother engagement of the bump stop to the control arm, making for a more comfortable ride on the road. Then when we get off the road, the progressive rate spring is going to be stronger and more sturdy than what we get from the factory. So, we get the best side of both worlds on that. When compressed, this is going to absorb all of the energy.

Meaning, we're going to have smooth and predictable and quiet engagement when these are compressed. Now, they're designed to fit the 2015 or newer Chevy Colorado and the GMC Canyon, but with any vehicle specific type product, we do recommend checking our fit guide just to ensure these are going to be an exact match for you. They offer really easy installation. You're just going to pop out your existing bump stop. You're going to add these in with the appropriate amount of spacers above it. Then you're going to tighten it done with an 11/16 inch socket or wrench.

Now, all the hardware is going to be included. That's something that can be done in the driveway really quite quickly. I'll open this up just a little bit here so you can see the spacers we're talking about. So, we've got one and two here. So, as you pull, your inaudible 00:01:30 going to come out of a cup that looks kind of like this.

You're going to pop that out, and we're going to put this in place of it.Now, these spacers are going to allow us to move this up and down slightly for the different variations of the Canyon and Colorado. You just want to ensure that when you have it installed, that this is just barely making contact with that control arm. That will have you in the appropriate spot. Then, again, just tighten it down. Now, these have 1,000 pound capacity, but I want you to keep something in mind.

That's not adding that kind of capacity to your truck. This is simply what these are rated for. You want to follow your manufacturer's weight limits when it comes to what you can carry. Now, these are resistant to UV rays, gas, oil, and other hazards we're going to find on the road, and they do back them up with a lifetime warranty. So, you know they're going to last forever. All in all, this is going to be a quick and easy upgrade. It will add a lot of performance to the front and suspension of your Canyon or Colorado. That's going to complete our look at the Timbren Active Off Road Front Bump Stops.

Review from a similar Active Off-Road Bumpstops in Vehicle Suspension

While towing my boat (2021 Tracker Pro Guide V-175/Mercury 115 ProXS, ~3,200lbs) in my 2021 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Premium, I noticed a significant rear squat. Additionally, fellow motorists would flag me for “high beaming” when I was not. This squatting in the rear raised the front end and subsequent headlight alignment. After much research and review, I purchased the Timbren SES and installed it. With the vehicle hitch unloaded, the SES rides approximately 1.250” above the rear axel. With the boat loaded onto the hitch, the Timbren SES contacts the axel and holds the load firmly, maintaining a level vehicle. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the ride was not greatly effected. Matter of fact, the vehicle rides much better while towing than before installing the SES. With the 3rd row seating in use, and the vehicle full of passengers, the rear passengers complained of a very bumpy ride and I noticed a very rough feel with hard bumps from the rear. After installing the Timbren SES, even with the boat on the hitch and the vehicle fully loaded, my 4Runner remains level and the ride is substantially improved. If you have 3rd row seating and/or plan on towing ANYTHING with your 4Runner, you absolutely need the Timbren SES. Installation is a breeze. Easiest accessory you’ll ever upgrade.

These do what they're built to do. I overland a lot so when the truck gets weighed down with gear she tends to squat a little and when I go through bumpy areas the factory stops would slam the frame. No any more with these Active Bump Stops. A much smoother ride and less body roll when cornering.

Easy Install, about an hour each side.
Changes
nothing to standard suspension until there is a load on them. When loaded you don’t have the banging with regular stops and steering and cornering are the same as unloaded. The biggest load I’ve carried is 3,400 lbs.
Make sure you check load rating on your tires before you add that much weight.

Review from a similar Active Off-Road Bumpstops in Vehicle Suspension

My 2013 4runner was squatting in the rear when I coupled my 6X12 motorcycle trailer. I was very happy to have found the Timbren bump stop to simply bolt on and fix the problem. However.....during the installation I noticed I had to use ALL of the adjustment slot on the unit to TRY to center on the rear axle. I oriented the units as far towards the rear as the adjustment would allow.
When I coupled my trailer to the 4runner it correctly forced the Timbren bump stop to contact the axle and this is where the problem is.
The Timbren bump stop CAN NOT be adjusted far enough towards the rear to accomplish a centering on the axle. There is a 25% overhang of the bump stop on the axle front. When I communicated with Timbren about this they said" it's a good installation and it's ok". It is not ok.
Imagine that all of the force of a fully loaded truck will be negotiating curves, potholes, swoops and other hazards of the road at highway speeds. All of this stress is distributed on 75% of the product. It can't work as well as if it was 100% distribution. I felt the product was overpriced to begin with. After paying a premium price I expected a custom proper fit.
I can't recommend this product for Toyota 4runner owners.

Review from a similar Active Off-Road Bumpstops in Vehicle Suspension

I had these on my Tacoma and liked the way they worked so much that I got a set for my new to me Tundra. You don't notice anything until you put a load on the truck. Then you feel more stable under load and don't have to worry as much about the leaf springs. The install was done in 15 minutes

Comments
I pull a 20 ft car hauler with the Tundra and recently hauled a car to Arizona then hauled another back. The frame just touches the top of the Timbren when loaded. After 3,000 miles of driving I am even more convinced that this is a great product. The truck never squats from trailer load and the Timbren also keeps the ride smooth straight and steady when pulling a load. When unloaded there is about a one inch gap between the frame and the Timbren so it drives like stock when lightly loaded or unloaded.

Review from a similar Active Off-Road Bumpstops in Vehicle Suspension

Installation was a breeze! Followed the instructions and lifted the truck up using a jack under my hitch, loosened the u-bolts, removed the factory bump stops and installed the timbrens! Took 5 minutes for each side, and 5 minutes to setup and take down setup. 15 minutes max. Very easy to do. I believe I am going to need a 1” spacer as I have 1.5” Icon add-a-leaf packs in order to get them to engage while towing.

Review from a similar Active Off-Road Bumpstops in Vehicle Suspension

My 100 series 2001 Toyota Land cruiser uses four of these bump stops though the build quality of this product is excellent I am only giving it an average rating because 2 of the metal housing that the rubber sits in widens up at the bottom edge. I had to cut that edge back so that they would not scrape one on each side.

Easy install, Nissan Xterra. Love that it came with all the hardware because I had to knock all existing hardware out with a hammer and chisel. I used four additional washers I had so I could put one inside the frame and one on the bumpstop mount. Etrailer shipped fast and free, bumpstops arrived ahead of schedule. Highly recommend these mounts, night and day difference.

Works great and is much cheaper and easier to install than air bags or a weight distribution hitch. Highly recommend.

Yes I like them except the U- bolts that came with were to short. I bought longer ones and all good now. I've jumped the truck a couple small jumps also offroad a bit and they seem to work well.

Review from a similar Active Off-Road Bumpstops in Vehicle Suspension

The Timbren bumpstops improved not only the loaded ride of the frontier, they also, imho, helped with the unloaded ride. This was on a 2018 frontier, the factory leaf spring pack is not made for hauling much, or a trailer with any tongue weight over 200#'s.
I had an issue with missing\wrong parts, I called e-trailer, they where wonderful to work with on fixing this issue.

Review from a similar Active Off-Road Bumpstops in Vehicle Suspension

I have a medium-duty truck and recently purchased a camp trailer. Well, when I pulled the trailer home for the first time the back of the truck was weighed down. I installed the new Timbren Active Off-Road Bumpstops and they improved the load capacity immensely. When I get the cash saved up I plan on purchasing the Timbren Active Off-Road Bumpstops for the front. Worth every penny.

Good investment, put 1,600 lbs. of gravel in my half ton tundra, no worries about breaking a spring.

Review from a similar Active Off-Road Bumpstops in Vehicle Suspension

I had no problems with the installation. It only took about 15 minutes to put these on! There is adjustment space on the brackets to let u be able to center product over rear axles. The pictures below show the product installed while my 4 runner is both raised up for installation and after lowering it down. When lowered down and jack removed I have about an inch clearance.

Great product. They offer progressive dampening and eliminate any harsh bottom outs. They pair very well with extended travel rear shocks. T4R SR5 4x4 with icon 3” overland rear springs and Fox 2.5” DSC shocks.

These bumpstops are excellent! they look better in person than they do in the picture. Because I have a 2" spacer lift on my Frontier Pro4X, I needed to Timbren 1/2" spacers & longer 2" bolts. I tested these under full flex and they work perfectly.

Comments
The front bumpstops required a 12 spacer to compensate for the 2 lift on my truck. These have been working great! Much improved ride quality when suspension bottoms out.

These were a breeze to install with rear of my Frontier Pro4X on ramps. they fit perfectly, and are a drastic improvement over the rock hard rubber factory bump stops.

Comments
The Timbren OffRoad bumpstops have been working great, ride quality is much improved when suspension bottoms out and these are great bumpstops. Intstallation was a breeze.

  • Front Helper Springs for a 2016 GMC Canyon with a Snow Plow
I think you will find that with a plow on the front of your 2016 GMC Canyon adding helper springs in the front will be a great, if not necessary, addition to your set up. Considering the weight of the plow will be out in front of the vehicle where it can apply more leverage to the suspension adding helper springs will prevent bottoming out and help keep the front suspension from wearing out prematurely. So with front mount receiver # 65071 or # C31074 installed and a plow attached we can...

  • Replacement Bump Stops for a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado LT with Rough Country 6 Inch Lift Kit
For starters, if you are going to be using your 2016 Chevrolet Colorado LT for towing then the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System would be correct but if you going to be using your 2016 Chevrolet Colorado LT for off roading then I recommend using the Timbren Active Off-Road Bumpstops. The Off-Road system has a softer spring which you will want for hard impacts whereas the SES system has a harder spring that will be better for constant loads. • Recommended Bump Stop Suspension Enhancement for a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado
Really the only difference between the Timbren part # TABSGMFCC and part # TABSOSR for your 2017 Chevrolet Colorado is that the former is rated for up to 1,000 lbs while the latter is rated for up to 3,600 lbs. Out of these options I would go with the set that has a higher rating. Since you do off-road driving you will want to use the off-road bumpstops referenced above. If you are looking for ride comfort though I recommend going with the SuperSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-212-40....
