An example of sag on a vehicle's rear axle under a heavy load

Whether you're hauling heavy loads in your bed or cargo area or you're towing a trailer, you will often see the rear of your vehicle sag while the front end rises. In these cases, the rear axle is handling not only the weight of the cargo, but also more of the vehicle's weight. Because less weight is on the front axle, the front tires are making less contact with the road. Overall handling - traction, steering, and braking - is negatively affected. But the resistance from Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System works with your factory suspension to keep your vehicle level and improve your driving experience.

Diagram of the Timbren spring installed

The Timbren system comes with custom-fit brackets that are bolted onto each frame rail above the rear axle. Hollow rubber springs are bolted to the bottom of the bracket and hang down to where the bottom of the spring sits, 1" above the axle. The inch of clearance allows the existing factory suspension to operate normally under light loads and standard terrain, ensuring the smooth, comfortable ride that you are used to.

Animation of a standard Timbren rubber spring

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems are designed to work progressively. When the hollow rubber springs are compressed, the convoluted design causes them to quickly collapse along the folds. Once the folds are compacted, the stacked barrel shape increases resistance, stiffening the suspension and keeping your vehicle level.

Timbren suspension system works to prevent body roll

Each hollow rubber spring works independently to support the driver's side or passenger's side of your vehicle. This is helpful when you swerve or make sharp turns. Each spring is activated when it is needed, so body roll is greatly reduced. The independent action also works well when you are hauling off-center loads.

An example of a trailers swaying

Because the vehicle handles better with the springs, less turbulence will be passed along to the trailer, and this helps to keep the trailer in line. Your driving comfort is further enhanced if the trailer does begin to sway (from a gust of wind or a passing semi), because the movement from the trailer is not transferred to your vehicle. This also works to make the sway subside more quickly.

An empty truck on a bumpy road without Timbren

Another great feature of the rubber construction is that the springs absorb most of the road shock, creating a smoother, more stable ride overall. Wear and tear on the factory suspension is also lessened because the rubber springs work to prevent bottoming out on rough roads.

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Compared to the Competition

Timbren's Suspension Enhancement Systems are much easier to install than air springs - there are no air hoses to run, no compressors or gauges to hook up, and no manual adjustments to make. The rubber construction makes Timbren's springs more elastic than similar products constructed of microcellular urethane. And more elasticity allows for a more comfortable ride because the rubber has more travel.

Stiffens up the ride of my truck when hauling heavy trailers

by:

Works well better ride with some weight in or on the back so the weight is on the blocks

by:

The product seems well built and installation was easy.
They did not line up centered over the axle even at the end of the adjustment slots. Not sure how that will effect performance when my Cruiser is loaded.

by:

Great product. Super easy install. I installed this and the sway bars the same day they arrived. I am very pleased with the results.

  • Recommended Airbag Kit for a 2015 Ford F-150
For a set of airbags that will work with your 2015 Ford F-150, I recommend taking a look at the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F2582. The Ride-Rite airbags will maximize safe load carry capacity, increase stability, and improve overall ride quality. The air pressure is adjustable for each airbag therefore you can adjust the pressure to suite your needs. In order to operate the airbags from inside the cab of your vehicle, I recommend the Firestone Air Command I part # F2158....

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement for 2020 Ford F-150 Crew Cab 4x4
The Timbren Suspension Enhancement System # TFRTT1504E is a confirmed fit for your truck. With a 1,100 lb tongue weight trailer, this system will help to keep the rear end from squatting and your headlights from being too high to see the road as intended. These will act as a shock absorber as well as helping to stabilize your truck when under load. These spring are made for severe service vehicles like tow trucks so I don't recommend then for your truck as they can actually cause your truck...

The main difference between the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System # TFRTT1504E and the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TFR1504E on your 2022 Ford F-150 is going to be the weight capacity and purpose the system is intended for. The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TFR1504E has a weight capacity of 6,000lbs. while the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System # TFRTT1504E has a weight capacity of 7,000lbs. • Difference Between Timbren Suspension Enhancement for 2023 Ford F-150
The # TFR1504E and # TFRTT1504E have different designs for different applications. More than likely you need the # TFR1504E for your 2023 Ford F-150. This kit will provide additional support and stability while towing and hauling. The # TFRTT1504E is a severe service kit designed to handle something like a slide-in camper or salt spreader that is always in your truck. This means it will be stiffer by comparison and result in a rough ride unless you have a heavy load in there at all times.

  • Suspension Enhancement Recommendation- 2020 Ford F150 Towing Small 5th Wheel
A jounce spring replacement like the Timbren # TFR1504E would be a great choice. The Timbren Aeon spring will not change the ride of your truck unless the rear suspension is compressed (like when a fifth wheel is hitched up). As more weight is added, the springs get progressively firmer. Because the springs replace the factory jounce bumpers, the Timbrens won't interfere with the bracketry for your firth wheel hitch. The springs will also make your truck feel more stable in turns and can...

  • Timbren Suspension Kit Recommendation for 2016 Ford F-150 4x4

You would want to go with the lower rated spring as it will be a smoother ride quality. The higher capacity will be harsher. I understand the temptation to want to go with the higher rated Timbren kit part # TFRTT1504E over the # TFR1504E for your 2018 Ford F-150 but in reality going with a higher weight rating will basically just make your ride quality much harsher whereas the lower rated kit will do a better job of balancing suspension support and ride quality.

Sumosprings are great for occasional towing and hauling as they don't decrease ride quality too much. That said, they really aren't ideal for constant loads like a truck bed camper as they don't engage right away and they are softer than other options so they don't provide as much support. The Timbren Suspension Enhancement System part # TFRTT1504E are actually designed for truck bed campers and will suite you much better. There are a few things you need to consider when switching from a 3/4 ton like your 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 to a 1/2 ton like a 2018 Ford F-150. For starters, the 3/4 ton is going to have a stiffer suspension than the 1/2 ton. This means that although the 3/4 ton did not squat while towing your trailer, that's not to say that the 1/2 won't even though it may still have a higher towing capacity. Also, the 3/4 ton will be more geared towards towing while means it likely has upgraded...
