Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com and today we're gonna take a look at this lock rack adjustable surf ski carrier. This adjustable water sport carrier is going to let you transport one surf ski on your roof rack without straps. Now this does feature expandable bases and arms that can be adjusted to fit various widths. So right here at our smallest configuration, let me go ahead and give you the overall width that we have that this is going to be set at at the smallest configuration. So as you can see, we are sitting pretty close to 18 and a half inches wide on the smallest configuration. And then on this one I have the bases fully expanded, and the arms fully extended.
And so looking at the overall width there, we're sitting right at about 33 inches wide. So you have a range from about 18 and a half inches all the way up to 33 inches of width. And the overall height from the base to the top of the ratcheting arms are sitting at about 13 and three quarter inches tall. Now these rubber coated ratcheting arms are going to hold your gear securely at four touch points. And so that's going to really eliminate the need for load straps while also protecting your gear from scuffs and scratches during transport.
This does feature an integrated locking system to secure your gear to the carrier. And as you can see here, it does include these four plastic keys that are going to fit into the locking mechanisms. And you're just gonna give that a simple twist like so. And then that's going to allow you to freely move the arm back and forth. So you can bring it out a little bit, and then you can take that key out and then push that in as you secure your gear to your rack until you get that really nice tight fit.
The arm can also be removed. So I'm gonna go ahead and re-insert my key, give it a twist. And as you can see, the arm can come completely out. That's going to allow you to easily load your surf ski onto the rack from the side of your vehicle. And then when you have that imposition, you can just slide this arm back into place, and you can hear again that ratcheting mechanism.
And I'm gonna push it all the way in, just like that. And then that's going to be nice and secure for you. So it's a pretty simple operation as you can see. Now these arms can also be set in a flat position and I just want to give you a brief demonstration of that. So on this end, the locking mechanism is on the rear side. So I just want to go ahead and remove this ratcheting arm. And I wanted to show you here, this hole. And what that hole is for is when you lay this flat and that hole will then engage with the locking mechanism here. So you won't have to worry about the arm sliding out when this is laid flat. So I'm just gonna put this in the flat position, slide this in, and now it is locked into that flat position. And just to give you a better idea of what this is going to look like, I have a picture on your screen showing you what this rack is going to look like when you have these arms in the flat position. Because of space limitations, I really can't demonstrate that for you on my table. So I hope that picture kind of gives you an idea of what this is going to look like flat on top of your vehicle. So let me go ahead and unlock this arm that's in the flat position. Pull that all the way out, remove our key, and I'll just slide this back in. And again, you hear that ratcheting mechanism, and then I'll just put it as we had it here at the most compressed if you will position. So these, if you also notice here, we've already talked about these rubberized arms. This also has a rubberized strip on top of these bases, and that's going to give you cushioning and slip resistance for as you're transporting your surf ski. And this features a lightweight aluminum construction, so it is corrosion resistant. And this weighs all together about 17 pounds. And the carrier itself has a weight capacity of 175 pounds. So you just wanna make sure that you do not exceed your vehicle's weight specifications or weight capacity for the roof. You wanna make sure you don't exceed your roof weight capacity. Now we do provide this carrier in two options, and what I have here will easily install into most crossbars with the top accessory channels. But we do also offer this with a universal crossbar adapter. And that adapter will let you mount this on round, square, arrow, elliptical, and most factory crossbars. So whichever version would work best for you, I have that item number on your screen. And so you can take the item number, either for the channel mount, if that's gonna work best for you, or for the universal crossbar adapter. Take that item number, put in the search field of our website and that will take you to the version of this carrier and you are looking for. Well, that's gonna conclude our brief look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

Great service
They. Care !
After 20,000mi of hauling and adventuring with this rack, I can confidently say it holds everything down well. The plastic locking mechanism and rubber grips work consistently in the hot desert and up in the cold mountains.
The only thing keeping me from giving a 5-star review is the whistling, which I solved by compressing a foam tile between the rack and bar (photo attached).
The LockRack was quick to install. I took my kayak out today- no straps to worry about or vibrating noise. Looks good and makes for an easy on and off.
Missing instructions, missing parts, instructions, and keys. Also received broken parts. All that I received is in this picture. I did get the bars that are not pictured
The keys are an issue (wish they were metal), but everything else is great! I go sunrise kayaking only and hate putting straps on with cold hands at 3:30 in the morning. I have a Nissan Pathfinder and was able to put this on with another set of Malone J-hooks so that I can have a second kayak when I go with someone. Once the fear subsides of it possibly falling off, you realize how quick and easy this thing is to use. It takes me 1 minute instead of 9-18 minutes to get my kayak up and secure. I have tested it at 75mph without any jiggling or issues. I sat on this in my shopping cart forever and finally pulled the trigger. If you kayak at least 10 times a year or are going at high speeds for extended periods of time in warm weather, totally worth it. If not, well, there are cheaper options out there.
Best rack for surfboard. Well made. Fastest, simplest way to load a board. So simple and fast and a degree of security. I have a different style rack that also locks but is just thin cables. I don’t worry leaving my board on here for a brief moment away. It would take more than wire cutters to break it.
I paddle board every day - I would not do it as much if it were not for the Lock Rack system! Stop wasting time with straps and get Lock Racks.
great rack, easy install if ur familiar with t slots. love that it locks into place easily. considering getting a second one.
I installed the racks on my vehicle and the Rubber for Lockrack 9-7/8" Base blew off of the racks before I ever got to put a board on them now they want $80 to replace all four of them… I just spent over $400 for the rack and I’ve already got about $80 worth of replacement parts. I guess I should’ve glued them on also it may say they lock but anybody else who buys one will have the same key plus the installation bolts are not tamper proof either.
Unfortunately the track in my roof rails has grommets sticking up to hold the mount to the vehicle that will not allow the t-bolts to slide in. I can appreciate the heavy duty t-bolt and it is not lock racks issue. But I should have just bought the adapter mounts from go and could have saved myself frustration and a few dollars. Make sure your rails are not obstructed before purchasing.
Easy installation. Secure. No straps required. Drove 8 hours up to 80 mph, didn’t move.
I've been using my lockRacks for the summer and have been very pleased with the ease of use. They were relatively easy to assemble and install on my vehicle. I've had two race boards (SUP) on top, and they were secure. When I travel states, I do use my Straps also for safety.
I'm very happy with this purchase, They installed very easily and the adjustments were easy to do and secured my kayak with ease.
They look great, it didn’t come with the connection to actually connect them to my roof rack.
You can't have anything else on your crossbars if you want to use this rack. The sercurimg bars do not swivel. Target they slide aaaallll the way out then you rotate and put them back in. Very low rent design for the price. Would not recommend.
Great company and customer service. The product was shipped quickly and arrived in a few days. The Lockrack is awesome. I use it for surfboards. It’s so easy to use. I have been using the product for several years and am very pleased with how simple and durable it is.
I mounted it on my Yakima racks. Very easy to do (directions could really be improved by having someone describe the steps more clearly). I have not used this. Could be a month or so. However, initially, it looks good. Too bad the angled arms that hold the kayak are not adjustable depending on the angle needed.
Rec'd earlier this week, so today i will install. The item was obviously a return. The logos are nearly scratched off in places, all the items were loosely thrown in the box, and the 10mm wrench and hex key were missing. i think everything else is there. The keys should be a bright color instead of black, some spray paint will fix that. Anyhoo, i am a little disappointed.
This is the best and quick way to transport your sup, surf ski, OC etc. load and lock in 10 second. Secured and effective set up. Couldn’t be happier with the purchase.
Wow I am loving my new set up Thank you Nicole and etrailer for all your help in getting the right look and fit
Extremely secure, safe and lockable rack that avoids the cinching and stress of traditional straps. Easy to install. Fantastic service and communication from etrailer. Highly recommended.
Unfortunately I did not have the best of luck with this product . I spoke with the company multiple times to ensure this would work with my rack. It did not. This system is made to work ONLY on a roof rack . I have a truck with a rack and a slot in the middle . We had to make different bolts and holders to install this. For using 2 Paddleboards we also had to modify the back of the racks holders to actually touch the boards to hold them in place . After the modifications and many many adjustments we have it working and it does hold great.
Great substitution for the original lock rack. The only major difference is the arms. They are straight, and not bent like the OG lock racks are. They work great! I ordered the adjustable base (21" minimum) to match the other rack. These are great!
