Create a stable ride for your tow vehicle and trailer with a weight distribution hitch. Adding spring bars to your towing system applies leverage, which transfers the load that is pushing down on the rear of your vehicle to all the axles on both your tow vehicle and your trailer, resulting in an even distribution of weight throughout. The result is a smooth, level ride, as well as the ability to tow the maximum capacity of your hitch.
The tongue weight rating is the most important factor in determining which size weight distribution system you should use. If the bars of the system you choose are rated too high for your setup, they will create a rigid ride, which can result in a bouncing trailer. If, on the other hand, the bars are not rated high enough, the system will be unable to properly distribute the weight, rendering it virtually useless.
To determine the proper weight rating for a weight distribution system, you must first determine your trailer's tongue weight. Then add to that the weight of the cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. These two measurements make up the tongue weight rating for a weight distribution system.

Perfect for your short-tongue trailer, this heavy-duty weight-distribution system will help to evenly distribute the load over the axles of both your tow vehicle and trailer for a smooth, controlled ride. Shank included. Hitch ball sold separately. My first order wasn’t the right setup for what I needed, but I called Brent J at etrailer.com and he helped me get the first order returned. Then he took the time to get my order right (to research it) by looking at diagrams and pictures making sure it was what I needed and that I got everything I needed. He was so nice and very professional. The Curt Weight Distribution Hitch with Trunnion Bars (Part # C17333) was perfect for my setup. My truck pulls my trailer so smooth and I can tell a BIG difference now that I have the hitch how even and well-balanced it pulls. There’s no swaying either. So go to etrailer.com or talk to Brent J. They have all your towing needs and more, and at great prices too! Thank you so much!!
It's a nicely made unit. Very heavy duty. Easy instructions to follow.
This is a serious hitch if you are needing one that allows for up to1,500lb.tongue weight.
The build quality is very good and it fits our trailer which due to the V- Nose has limited space for the traditional longer trunnion spring arms.
We also like the spacers that are used to position the head for placement of the spring arms.
Unlike the head locks on most hitches, there is absolutely no way for this to slip or move after it is adjusted.
We have no doubts that we will get years of service from it.
Thank you etrailer.com!
We're a first time travel trailer owners. I purchased the CURT weight distribution hitch. It's heavy duty and easy to assemble. Then I purchased the Draw-tite electronic brake control with a Tekonsha wire harness for my truck. After watching you tube to see how to find the brake control cable on my truck and assemble the electronic brake control it all works perfectly.
Exactly what I needed for my new travel trailer. Needed a hitch to support almost 1400lbs tongue weight, this fit the bill. Package was a little damaged, but its hard to hurt a hitch, nothing was damaged. Curt install video is the first thing that comes up on youtube. Description says "short arm" model, but it looks pretty standard to me, about the same size as my old Reese hitch.
etrailer is amazing, shipping was free, and it arrived to me in 4 days!
Heavy duty kit. Worked well with addition to airbags on Durango to pull a 24' race trailer. Like the bars, much better than the round bars I had previously. Handles better also.
Helpful salesperson quick shipment excellent product and well packed 1st class service all the way
I was hesitant to order here instead of [online] Price was cheaper with etrailer and delivered on date promised. My o ly regret was not realizing my ball was a 1" shank vice the required 1 1/4" shank. Thank you
Great price, really good quality hitch. Seems like the best hitch for the money
Excellent hitch for towing large trailers, easy to set up.
Hitch was completely worn out after a few months of daily use.

You mentioned that it was completely worn out and I wanted to ask if you could explain in more detail? Would you be able to send a picture.

I do not have any pictures. I scraped it last fall. The pockets where the arms go in the hitch were completely worn out almost completely through.

When there is excessive wear in the trunnion socket in he head unit, it indicates that there may be an overload on the bars or that its needs more lubrication. You will want to make sure trailer and vehicle are as level as possible. If not level then you will want to re-measure and adjust until it is. The spring bars need to have a heavy, fibrous grease applied to the top section of each spring bar.
Product is exactly as described. Great customer service and extremely fast shipping.
Hitch has performed well, would purchase again.
Great Product, and Service.
well built easy to set up great price.
Thank you, everything was done quickly and efficiently.
Well, where do I start? First of all etrailer did not place the correct address on my shipment. They left out two very important lines. Secondly I had to call to get a copy of my invoice. They didn’t send it at the time of my order. Good thing I took a picture of the order number.
Next? Changing or adding to an address with UPS while the package is being shipped? Impossible! So I took the tracking number to the loading facility of my location 75 miles away and the super cool driver supervisor at UPS took my information and made sure I received my shipment.
Now… yes it arrived but like I’ve seen in many reviews the box was a mess! It has at least a roll or two of packing tape all over it to keep it together. I don’t know yet if I’m missing any parts. I won’t have time to look till next week. I can not imagine UPS would accept a box in this condition so I’m pretty certain the damage happened in transit. Bottom line IMHO Curt manufacturing needs to be held to account for this. If you’re boxing up something that weighs 120 pounds make sure your packaging is up to the task.
Would I order from etrailer again? That remains to be seen. Am I happy with my purchase? Don’t know yet, I need to install it. In this case I’m broke down in the middle of nowhere with a broken hitch that was supplied with my trailer that is very possibly too light for the trailer.
The saga continues! If all goes well with the install and the operation of the hitch then I’ll be happy. Just a BTW… I’ve seen reports that this hitch works fine till it breaks. Finding a bumper pull hitch for a 15,000 pound trailer is not as easy as one might think.
I had an L shaped weight distribution hitch before I bought this Curt model from E trailer. If you the coop ape the two the older one wS easier to operate. The Pins that lock the chain brackets in please are difficult to remove and adding wd40 does not help also this new one seems to be lower to the ground,, making me bend over and sometimes or even get to my knees to hook it up .My wife used to be able to help me with the older one the new one she is not able so I do both sides myself . Also the part that connects to the truck you need to hold it sideways then flip the the release up and maneuver it he top 2 tabs into place , lot more work than the L shaped one I had. It’s ok otherwise.
I use this to pull a camper and it works great. etrailer has been great to order from and they have very good products. I have ordered several items since i ordered this hitch from them. Give them a chance, they will do you right.
This how the box showed up with just a couple of pieces left in it. Then they act like they are doing you a favor to replace it. Package it right before you ship it.
The delivery was bad.
I’m using this hitch on a two axle 20 ft car hauler that has a bit too much tongue weight when carrying a full size pickup. It works perfectly for this & is quick & east to remove & install.

That hitch has been great! Our approximate 7,000lb., 27 ft. enclosed race car hauling trailer, is now very stable. With the bars and hitch we were using, which were much to small, it was a real handful, now you hardly know it is back there!Great piece of equipment!
