Is this right For you? Product Expert Lindsey S says:
Yes, if you:
Compatible with dual cams if you decide you need high-performance sway control down the road
Spring bars are durable and well made, and flexible for a smooth ride
Easy-to-adjust head makes setup simple
No, if you:
Chains don't provide much tension or stability, so this won't do anything to keep your trailer in line
Round bars don't provide as much ground clearance as trunnion, so you won't want this if you tow with a van or low-riding car
Low tongue weight compared to other 10K setups, so you're more limited on the size of your trailer
The Reese Pro Round Bar weight distribution system is designed to evenly distribute weight and reduce trailer sway for a smooth and comfortable ride. Create a stable ride for your tow vehicle and trailer with a weight-distribution hitch. Adding spring bars to your towing system applies leverage, which transfers the load that is pushing down on the rear of your vehicle to all the axles on both your tow vehicle and your trailer, resulting in an even distribution of weight throughout. The result is a smooth, level ride, as well as the ability to tow the maximum capacity of your hitch.
Selecting a Weight-Distribution System
The tongue weight rating is the most important factor in determining which size weight-distribution system you should use. If the bars of the system you choose are rated too high for your setup, they will create a rigid ride, which can result in a bouncing trailer. If, on the other hand, the bars are not rated high enough, the system will be unable to properly distribute the weight, rendering it virtually useless.
To determine the proper weight rating for a weight-distribution system, you must first determine your trailer's tongue weight. Then add to that the weight of the cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. These two measurements make up the tongue weight rating for a weight-distribution system.
Unique Features of Reese Round-Bar Weight Distribution
The easy-to-use, block-style washer on the Reese system makes adjusting the tilt of the weight-distribution head a snap. This uniquely shaped washer can be rotated and positioned between blocks on the weight-distribution head for simple, secure positioning. And the numbered sides provide reference points should you need to adjust your system between different tow vehicles. This is a huge improvement over the standard pin-and-washer method, which involves piling washers - one on top of another - onto a difficult-to-access pin to obtain the desired tilt.
The round spring bars of this system slide up into the weight-distribution head and secure with pins for quick, easy installation. With a tapered design and hot rolled steel construction, these bars offer superior flex, ensuring a smooth, controlled ride for both your tow vehicle and your trailer. In addition, these specially designed bars have rounded, hooked ends, making them the only kind of spring bars that can function with Reese's active-style, dual-cam sway control (sold separately).

Review from a similar Round Reese WD in Weight Distribution Hitch
We had great customer service. We went on our first trip pulling our camper and somehow a pin fell out and we lost a sway bar . Not sure if I am explaining the parts exactly what they are but I called in and spoke to Amy which went above her duties with nothing but pour niceness to help us . She was able to sent us another one with it having a time warranty and with one day shipping. After it was delivered to the campground she even sent a email letting me know it was delivered. She was very professional and followed through on everything she told me .1320813

Review from a similar Round Reese WD in Weight Distribution Hitch
Just bought a new travel trailer and the dealer hooked this up to my truck/trailer. 60 mile ride home and it went very smooth. I haven't taken the truck/trailer off road yet but when I do I'll have extra peace of mind know the trailer weight is properly distributed and I have the anti-sway control. The dealer wanted to sell me one of their units that was exactly the same design but over twice as much money. Reese makes good quality towing products and I'm sure I'll be happy with this equipment.1334059

Review from a similar Round Reese WD in Weight Distribution Hitch
Horrible. My first order was lost and anew order was placed. When the new order came it had no instructions with it so I have no idea if I received all the parts to even assemble it properly. I also received a part that is not even used for a sway bar. And instructions for an unrelated part installation.1320617

Review from a similar Round Reese WD in Weight Distribution Hitch
The packaging was awful. I had to go to my local UPS depot to pick it up, because they would not deliver it. The box was mangled and covered in packing tape. It was nowhere near sturdy enough to be shipping such a weighted material. All the pieces were loose and rolling around. I searched through as best I could to make sure that all the pieces were there. Hopefully when I go to put this together in the next day or so all the pieces are there.1313008

Review from a similar Round Reese WD in Weight Distribution Hitch
I would have given a 5 but box was torn to shreds when delivered, don’t even know how delivery guy was able to get it to our porch. We had to lay out all the piece and make sure they where all there. We immediately installed the next day and are very happy with how well it has tightened up the sway in the trailer with passing vehicles and how quickly it stops bouncing after hitting bumps in the road. Installation was very easy.1349352

The product is great. The shipping was absolute dog .. they threw heavy metal bars inside an empty card board box that was beat to hell and had holes in it. Luckily everything stayed inside, unluckily it was scratched and dented. If I wanted something that looked used I would have bought used1295424

You may need to adjust the ball angle on the weight distribution system to level the spring bars with the trailer frame when the unit is hooked up. I have included a link to the instructions for the Reese Heavy Duty Round Bar Weight Distribution System, # RP65509. The instructions you need start on the top of page 2.
If the trailer still is not level after making the above adjustments, you may need to lower the ball mount for a level ride, especially since you stated that your tow vehicle... view full answer...
If you choose a 2013 Ford Escape that has the factory tow package and has a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds then it can handle the light tent trailer without issue. What you will want to look at is the gross combined weight rating. This rating is the most the vehicle and trailer can be including passengers, fuel, and luggage.
Ford did not put this specific information in the owners manual that I found online, only how to find it on the vehicle. If you look in the drivers side door jamb... view full answer...
You have a pretty standard A-frame trailer frame that would work well with weight distribution hangers and brackets. You may have to temporarily remove the battery box to install the frame hangers.
The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. A weight distribution system with a tongue weight range of 800-1,200 lbs (I am assuming that's what you meant) is going to be very harsh on a trailer that only has 300 lbs of tongue weight. You will need a much lighter rated system. Ideally you get a system where your tongue weight falls right into the middle of the systems tongue weight range and you'll get the best overall towing experience. The Reese weight distribution system part # RP65509 would be a great option as it has a tongue... view full answer...
The Reese Weight Distribution System w Shank - Round Bar - 10,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW item # RP65509 works by applying leverage to either side of your setup. This transfers the load at the rear of the vehicle to all axles on your tow vehicle and trailer. This is done by creating tensions in the bars attached to your trailer frame. In order for the system to work properly there has to be tension on the bars and the chains as tight as possible. The metal on metal set up of a weight distribution... view full answer...

It is possible to use weight distribution on a boat trailer. You will need to add a pole tongue adapter like Reese Pole-Tongue Adapter for Weight Distribution Systems, # RP58393. This adapter will fit tongue widths from 1-5/8 inches to 5 inches and tongue heights from 3 inches to 6 inches.
With the pole tongue adapter installed, you can add a weight distribution system like Reese SC Weight Distribution w Sway Control, # RP66155. I have included a link to the installation instructions for... view full answer...
Hello Bill, the Reese Weight Distribution System w Shank - Round Bar part # RP65509 does come with a shank with a maximum drop of 1-1/4" from top of hitch receiver opening. It sounds like you need a shank with more drop to accommodate for the height difference when towing with the Ford Ranger. I recommend to use the Reese Weight Distribution System part # RP65509 and switch out the shank with Reese Weight Dist Shank part # RP3344 which provides a maximum drop of 8-5/8" from top of hitch... view full answer...
Normally for trailer frames like yours where there is interference above the frame you have to use a set of bolt on weight distribution frame brackets like the # RP58305. Normally this doesn't void the warranty of a trailer. Then you could use a weight distribution system like the part # RP65509 which would work great with your tongue weight range.
A WD system is preferred over suspension enhancement as it reduces suspension sag as well as improves handling and braking so it's the way... view full answer...
I looked up pictures of your 2012 KZ Sportsmern Classic 19bh and I can't see any reason a weight distribution system couldn't be used as it appears to have a very standard A-frame. What I would recommend is the Reese Kit part # RP65509 as it has has a tongue weight range of 200 to 600 lbs and then the bolt on brackets part # RP58305 since you have the wider 3 inch frame. view full answer...
The replacement spring bars for the Reese # RP65509 are no longer available from the manufacturer, unfortunately. That being said, if one of the original bars broke, you may need one that has a little more capacity, which we do carry.
The Reese Replacement Round Bar # RP58114 is rated from 400 pounds at the minimum up to 800 pounds at the maximum. The bars for your # RP65509 are rated from 200 pounds to 600 pounds. So it isn't too much higher. However, you should double check your loaded... view full answer...
I would be happy to help you. The lift brackets for the Reese Weight Distribution System item # RP65509 mount around 30" from the hitch ball.
If you don't have room for the snap-up brackets you can still use a weight distribution system. You would need to use the Chain Hangers for Reese Weight Distribution Systems item # RP58305. These bolt-on chain hangers provide an attachment point for your weight-distribution spring bars without interfering with trailer-frame-mounted items. view full answer...
It is always better to go with a larger system rather than one that is not rated high enough. A system that is rated too low will not be effective because the tongue weight will exceed the ability of the spring bars. On the other side, a system rated much higher than the actual tongue weight will provide a stiffer ride. So it is always better to go to a higher rated system than a smaller one.
For you I think a system rated for 800 to 1,500 pounds would be more ideal because that will cover... view full answer...
The recommended tongue weight range for Reese Heavy Duty Round Bar Weight Distribution system, part # 49570, is 600-1,200 pounds. Unless you get the camper up to a 600 pound plus tongue weight after loading, this system would be overkill. It probably would not damage anything, but the ride would be very rough.
We have smaller systems that would probably suit your needs better and not create a rough ride. Reese part # RP65509 has a tongue weight range of 200-600 pounds. You trailer is already... view full answer...
The Curt TruTrack part # C17500 is going to be way overrated for your 2014 Sportsmen Classic 19 based on the weights you mentioned so I would not recommend using it. If you do use it the ride quality will be really harsh so it would be better to go with a lower rated system like the Reese round bar system part # RP65509 that you also referenced as it has a tongue weight range of 200-600 lbs and would not be harsh at all. view full answer...
If the rear end of your vehicle sags significantly when the trailer is hooked up then you could have an unsafe condition and your front end and tires will not wear properly. The weight is taken off of the front wheels of the vehicle and can cause loss of control, especially when towing in adverse conditions such as rain, snow, high winds or if a sudden maneuver has to be made.
A weight distribution system will level out the vehicle and distribute the tongue weight between the vehicles... view full answer...
If you load that pop-up to the max, you could possibly be at almost 4000 lbs.
We'll typically recommend weight distribution when the weight of the trailer being pulled exceeds half the weight of the tow vehicle, which it will in your case.
What I'd do if I were in your position is hitch the camper up to the truck and see if the rear suspension sags. If so, I'd recommend using a basic weight distribution kit. When the rear suspension sags not only will it make your headlights aim higher... view full answer...
When choosing a weight distribution system you will want one that has a tongue weight capacity range that encompasses the trailer tongue weight when loaded and ready to tow and that also includes the weight of any gear loaded behind the rear axle of the vehicle.

The Reese # RP65509 will allow you to back the trailer without disconnecting the spring bars, but if you're in a situation where it's possible that the trailer could jackknife, it's strongly recommedned to remove the bars.
This system is desgined for trailer with a loaded and ready to tow tongue weight between 200-600 lbs. This figure also would include any cargo in the rear of the tow vehicle that's stowed behind the rear axle.

I looked up your 2013 KZ RV Spree escape E18 and it most likely is going to have a tongue weight around 400 lbs when full loaded which the Reese Weight Distribution System # RP65509 would be perfect for. It's going to take and distribute some of the trailer's tongue weight up to the front axle of your Dodge Ram which is going to improve handling, braking and reduce suspension sag. It also would help prevent sway from higher winds or passing semis so it's a really great choice.

We have a great similar system that would work well for you but the part # RE44FR is rated too high for a 4,000 lb trailer. You'd have a very harsh ride quality with this due to the spring bars being rated for a much heavier trailer.
Instead you'd want the part # RP65509 which has a tongue weight range of 200 to 600 lbs. view full answer...
