Video Transcript for Ultimate Overview of the etrailer Trailer Wheel Lock

Protect your investment with the etrailer wheel locking device. Simply go up to your tire, take these two apart. We're gonna go to where it goes on to our rim right there. And then once we're done, we can take these keys and we just press in this little lock cylinder here and then use the little cap to protect that core from any type of water damage and your trailer is locked up. To take it off, we just take one of the two keys that's in our kit. The tumbler is gonna be pretty pick proof because of our circular key.

So that's gonna give you extra peace of mind that no one's gonna be able to pick it. Once that pops out, we can take it and then we can put it back like this for storage. You can store it with the trailer and the toolbox like we have here, fits in there pretty nicely. It's a pretty small toolbox but you can also keep it with the vehicle. If you have a truck, throw it in the toolbox or just throw it underneath your seat.

This is gonna work with your tires that are anywhere from six and three quarter inches wide in the smallest. And then it's gonna go all the way up to 10 and a half inches wide. So you just wanna measure your tires to make sure that'll work. And another thing to think about is the reach. So from the inside of the crossbar to the tip of the clamp, that's gonna be our reach.

And that is eight and 1/2 inches. The whole goal here is to just go over to our tire and just make sure it's just gonna go past where the tire and the wheel meet. That's gonna be our reach right here with our 205/75 R15 tire. It reaches perfectly. This isn't just for trailers.

If you have wheels on something, you can use it. Maybe a golf cart, a side by side full wheeler or a vehicle, but this just shows you that with the larger tires like we have here, it's not really gonna work. It's not really the width of the tire. It's more of the reach. So the reach, what you wanna do is just measure from where your rim starts to go in to the very outside. We just wanna make sure it falls within those bounds we talked about earlier to make sure it's gonna fit. This is a 265/75 R16 tire. If that helps. My tire on my vehicle barely didn't fit. It's about eight and three quarter inches from the inside out here. So you have to make sure you're under eight and 1/2. This is gonna be great for storage when you can't really keep an eye on your rig throughout the whole entire winter season. So this is going to be nice and bright. So whoever wants to steal your trailer is just gonna look at it and walk away. So this is gonna prevent anybody from hooking up and then rolling with it. Let's just say they could hook up to your trailer. It's gonna be very, very tough to not destroy the trailer by doing this, but this is not a chock, okay You need to use these with wheel chocks. This is just going to lock it into place. The steel construction makes it super, super strong. So it's gonna hold up even if someone tries to go and take your trailer. And we also dip the edges right here. So if you have pretty aluminum wheels like this it scratch a little easy. You don't have to worry about it scratching with our etrailer wheel lock. This may come in handy. The handle's gonna be eight and a quarter inches long. So if you do want to put it in between your tires for whatever reason on your dual axle trailer you might wanna just chock the outsides of these wheels. But if you like to chock on the inside of the wheels it's gonna be just as secure if you just take this and then go on the outside. I think it all just comes down to what you really want and what depth going on on your rig. 'Cause this is gonna be just as secure as doing it in between the two tires. One thing I suggest getting for your setup is a set of these. What is this Well, it's a lug nut lock. So it's gonna prevent your wheel from coming off. If someone really wanted to steal your trailer and they saw this on there, if they we're really smart they would look at your spare tire. Take that off, jack this thing up, take this whole tire off and put the spare on and then they could use your trailer just like normal. So I do recommend locking your wheels to your trailers just to prevent any kind of theft from happening. If you already have chocks for your trailer the etrailer wheel lock is gonna be very nice. But if you need both, Trimax does make one that doubles as a chock. If you wanted to go that route. So that's something maybe I would compare it to but at the same time, they're pretty much the same thing. This one's just gonna prevent it from rolling as well. So that's what we got on our website. I really hope this helps. And that's everything you need to know about the etrailer wheel locking device..

Recently I replaced all the wood on my utility trailer. Both the decking and I added 3 foot side rails to it. It looks brand new, but I did not have a way to lock it to. I thought about the trailer hitch lock, but would have to undo the hitch every time I had to lock it. I purchased the etrailer Trailer Wheel Lock. It is very easy to install and has a round key for added protection. Now I can lock my trailer without unhitching from my truck.

by:

After someone attempted to steal my business trailer but failed due to the hitch being locked, they attempted to roll it to the street but gave up as a neighbor spooked them. Found the etrailer wheel lock to be affordable, well designed, easy to operate, and effective. Also added a lug nut lock so the tire cannot be removed.
The website and service was good and the product was shipped within a few days.
I would recommend this product to anyone looking for an effective solution for those concerned about vehicle or trailer theft.

After using the Stallion Trailer Wheel Lock for over a year now, I am pleased to say it continues to work properly and is an effective solution to prevent trailer theft. A very economical and effective tool that I would recommend to anyone with a trailer exposed to the outside world.

They work great we use them on all of the trailers we keek at our warehouse.

I have ordered from etrailer several times. Their products and product videos are top notch. Delivery is quick, and packaging excellent. Great company to do business with.

by:

Have used this product with on issues. It's a great deterrent. The only issue I have is the plastic cap over the lock opening is too tight and hard to put on so just don't bother with it.

by:

Does it’s job great!

by:

This lock was made of lighter materials than I expected. I honestly don't think this is a security lock but more of a hey look. It has a lock. I am not to confident in its abilities.

by:

Very good product! Recommended by our insurance company to receive additional rate discounts. We primarily used a ball hitch lock plus a chain through a tie-down, but this acts as another excellent visual deterrent we won't drive off with! Fast delivery and free shipping, along with quality products keeps me coming back!!!

by:

The wheel lock is a good deterrent against theft or your trailer. The keyed lock is so much easier to work with, (the big selling point for me).

by:

The wheel lock was exactly as etrailer described and fit my travel trailer perfectly. Ordering was easy and delivery was quick.

Working great. Easy to operate, yellow maybe looks a tad garish but thats the point, right?

by:

This trailer lock is easy and simple to use. Quick to put on and quick to remove. My trailer hasn’t been stolen yet!

by:

Trailer Wheel Lock is very easy to use and has held up. through. the Winter months just fine

by:

Little disappointed that it will not fit the older drum brake systems with a backing plate. The baking plate interrupts the function of the claw so it will not insert.
Other then that seems like a good product.

by:

Lock was easy to use..took seconds to install on the trailer wheels. Tested and the wheels do not budge.. Highly recommended for personal and light commercial use.

by:

Needs a lug bolt cover to deny wheel re moval

by:

Works easily and securely.
Real piece
of mind when I have to leave the trailer in an unsecured spot.

by:

Satisfied with wheel lock. Feel much safer when my trailer is parked.

by:

Trailer Wheel Lock is Durable and Heavy. Excellent product

Product is still working great.

by:

I haven’t been using this device because it is difficult to create a snug fit and hard to lock and unlock. I purchased a good hitch lock that is much easier to use and secures our travel trailer. This device has several “notches” where it locks. If your tire is in between two of those positions, you are forced to loosen it to the next wider setting making it fit the tire and wheel loosely.

by:

Bought this to put on my boat trailer. Very well made and I think it's going to be a relief knowing it's secured.

Well made,excellent theft deterrent.
Also
used a few times on motorcycle
with peace of mind that it was secure!

by:

I Have NEVER Experienced Anything Negative with any of the Products I purchased from E-Trailer. You Recieve it on Time and It is As Advertised. Can't wait to Use This Priduct. Keep up The Good Work.

by:

The lock sticks frequently and the barrel key fell apart

by:

This is one heavy duty wheel clamp/boot lock. It appears to be well made of tempered steel and it is easy to install. I purchased this product for my Bass Boat Trailer. Even though I have one of the best Trailer Hitch Ball Locks, I now have a second method of securing my Bass Boat & Trailer while it sits in my driveway. Now, I will rest a little easier knowing that if some low life is contemplating on stealing my boat and trailer from my driveway, he/she is really going to have to really work at it. I'm thinking of getting another on of these wheel clamp/boot locks for the other wheel. I highly recommend this product if you need a wheel clamp/boot lock..it will give you some peace of mind.

  • What Wheel Lock Will Fit My UTV
The etrailer Trailer Wheel Lock, part # 288-02020, will fit your UTV provided its tires are between 6-3/4" -10-1/2" wide. Another option is the Trimax Trailer Wheel Chock and Lock - 12 - 16-1/2" Wide Tires, part # TMX62ZR, which can fit tires between 12" - 16-1/2" wide. I have included a product description link and a video review link below.

  • Recommended Keyed Alike Wheel Lock
I have a solution for you but the etrailer Wheel Lock item # 288-02020 is not able to be keyed alike. Instead you will want the Blaylock EZ Trailer Wheel Lock item # BLEZ-302. This wheel lock is made of aluminum and fits 15" to 20" wheels. This wheel lock is also made in America. You will want to select keyed alike in the drop down above the add to cart option. You will need to purchase all of the locks you want keyed alike at the same time.

  • Recommended Coupler Lock for Demco EZ-Latch Coupler
The best way to secure your trailer with the # DM89FR coupler is to use a locking pin such as # e98888 to deter the coupler from being tampered with. I would also recommend the etrailer Trailer Wheel Lock # 288-02020 for added security.

  • Anti-Theft Lock Recommendations for Yakima EasyRider Double Decker Trailer # Y08129
I can definitely help come up with a way to make the Yakima EasyRider Double Decker Trailer # Y08129 as theft resistant as possible but I can't safely recommend you replace the hardware that secures the coupler or hinge to the trailer tongue with hitch locks of any kind. You have to use the included hardware otherwise the warranty of the trailer would be voided and you'd be potentially unsafe to yourself and other motorists. So for the latch of the coupler you could use a trigger latch...

  • Could Bolt On Coupler # CTA-280 Be Unbolted and Stolen
There isn't a locking solution for the bolt on couplers like the Trailer Coupler # CTA-280 that you referenced but someone would have to have the needed tools and the correct coupler on hand to then reinstall on the trailer so that they could drive off with it. That's not a totally impossible scenario but pretty unlikely. You might be interested in a wheel lock like the # 288-02020 as well as this would lock the trailer regardless of the coupler style.

  • Are Gooseneck Trailer Couplers Swapped as a Way to Steal Trailer
Hey Susan, so we don't have any locks designed to lock a gooseneck coupler's inner tube to the outer tube that is welded to the trailer chassis so the best option we have would be a wheel lock like the part # 288-02020 which will prevent the wheels from rolling which would be just as effective as a theft deterrant. I wouldn't say that coupler swapping is a common theft tactic at all so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

The etrailer Trailer Wheel Lock part # 288-02020 will work on any wheel/tire with a width between 6-3/4" - 10-1/2". I don't have a list of every wheel/tire that the lock fits unfortunately but so long as yours is within this range you'll be good to go. Please note, it can be hard to accurately measure the width of a wheel using a tape measure so I recommend obtaining the tire size and using a calculator online to determine the exact size.
