Video Transcript for Deka Jacketed 2 Wire, 10 Gauge, Brake Wire Feature Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Decca jacketed 2 wire 10 gauge brake wire and this is sold per foot. I have a sample here, this is just to show you that this combination of the 2 heavy duty 10 gauge wires. They're jacketed individually and then all together. It's perfect for when installing a trailer brake controller on your vehicle. The 10 gauge duplex brake wire made with the 2 plastic insulated primary wires are laid parallel and the wires are covered with this high quality plastic jacket that protects the insulated conductors. The conductors are color coded for easy identification.

You can see a white and a black. This does meet all the SAEJ1128 specifications up to 50 volts and the insulation is rated to 105 degrees Celsius. Basically what this is used for is one wire is connected to your brake controller which carries the power back from the trailer brakes while the other is connected directly to the vehicle battery for an auxiliary power supply pin in the trailer connector. What's nice is having both of these wires in the same jacket. It makes running them from the back to the front of the vehicle very quick and easy.

That should do it for the review of the Decca jacketed 2 wire 10 gauge brake wire and this is sold per foot.

First time user. I worked with Randall and let Me tell you he guided me and helped me thru my order. It was a total hitch reciever, all the wiring, 4 plug and 7. We oucked the vest electric break controller for the job. 2011 ford E350 van. He also guided me and we ordered a shower faucet for my camper. The shipping was incredible. Missouri to Alexandria Va in less than 58 hrs and the shipping g was free! 100% believer in this beautiful American company and in Randall too! I have his direct # if I need it. Thankyou Etrailer!!!!

10-gauge Jacketed wire is hard to find by the foot. Just what I needed.

by:

Exactly what I needed to fix the horse trailer after catching the brake wiring in some brush. Completely rewired the brakes and one year later ... Zero issues!

by:

Seems like a good product, but it's very expensive and it wasn't necessary for my installation. Seems like they don't really know what I need for my mass produced American truck.

by:

I was looking for two 10 gauge jacketed wires that could also be easily separated. Most of what I found were wires molded into the jacket which would make it very hard to strip and separate them where needed. etrailer is one of the very few places able to supply such wire.

by:

It’s just like the wiring in your house. Very thick and abrasion resistant insulation. Ran it from my 7 pole plug through the frame to the front of my truck behind the front drivers side wheel well.

by:

As with past orders on etrailer I received nothing but superb service, advice and recommendations for this project; replacement and upgrade to automatic self adjusting brakes on a two axle travel trailer. Parts were top of the line and installed flawlessly. Highly recommend etrailer once again.

by:

Just the length needed to get along length of my SUV and proper gauge

by:

Good product with awesome service!

by:

Services fantastic.

In the video it said get the 10' of this wire. My fault, I didn't notice when I bought it that it was by the foot. It shows a roll so I never put two and two together. So I received a 2'section which is completely worthless.

by:

I think E trailer is the only place to get this. Perfect for trailer wiring and brake controller feeds.

by:

Great for trickle charging my trailer winch battery

by:

I purchased this cabling to replace existing trailer brake wiring that had failed due to a short circuit. It is heavy duty by sill easy to work with. I would certainly order it again if I have a need. As always etrailer.com provides excellent products and customer service.

These things are major time-savers! Bolt the whole assembly on, wire it up, and go! Can't beat the price either - would cost quite a bit more buying the parts individually. Made a huge difference in stopping power on my 18' Dively car hauler, 9990 GVWR. The brakes were 6 years old at the time, and had tens of thousands of miles on them - abusive miles too, with shoes seizing and dragging, electrical failures causing some to work 3x as hard as others, stop and go MA traffic, etc.

While I was at it, I also grabbed 30' of Deka jacketed 2-wire 10 gauge brake wiring, and redid the whole system from the plug back. I also removed the drums, had them turned at a local garage, and installed brand new bearings, races, & seals. The improvement in stopping power was nothing short of amazing.

I went from having my Tekonsha P3 on boost level 3 at 11 volts +, trailer UNLOADED, to running boost level 1 at 6 volts with 4,000 lbs. on the 2k lb. trailer! BIG difference in stopping power!

Seems my brake backing plate installation review got posted under the Deka wire ... but anyway ... the wire is working great a year later. Gone roughly 2k miles with several hundred miles in corrosive road salt. I ran the wire through washers I welded to the inside of the frame. Holding up well with the constant abrasion on our endlessly potholed roads here in Massachusetts. Well worth the price - brakes have been working perfect ever since!

by:

Good quality wire, works well and easy to use.

Still working well, no issues, seems to be very high quality.

by:

My tow vehicle does not have factory connections for trailer wiring. Used this cable for trailer brakes and auxillary power. This cable is just what I needed to run from rear to front of my vehicle on the underside. The sheathing protects the wire from the elements. The shipping was quick.

After one year of use, no problems what so ever.

by:

Great product! I was able to complete my electric brake controller installation with ease!!! Great instructional video.

by:

Hello, this is my second order from the guys at etrailer.com, and let me tell you they ship SUPER FAST, and the constantly keep communicating about your order. These guys don't play around, hats off to y'all. This product worked out great, i did have to cut about 1/3 of the 10ga wire though to get it to fit in my Bargman 7-way. But at least i wont get a current drop though. Very nice insulation jacket too. (Not the hard plastic crap) thanks again guys for great customer service

Great product!

by:

Heavy duty wire that will last the truc k!!!

by:

This item was recommended to use with electric brakes. Made sense. When arrived, I found that the wire was to large to fit in the axle tubes and trailer conduit. Recommend that you check to make sure it fits before buying. The product is high quality, and would work great for the application if it fit.

Everything has worked flawless

by:

Products I received were fine. The shipping was very quick, and arrived quickly. Where etrailer really shined was in their contact help. My email was answered quickly, with alternate suggestions (which were both a closer match and cheaper alternative to my pick) and clearly explained by my online contact. They were a very big help.

I'm a repeat customer of etrailer, and never had an issue. Good people there, period.

by:

etrailer products and service are excellent! With their helpful videos and staff (plus a little help from Curt Manufacturing and our teardrop trailer manufacturer (CampInn)) I was able to install electric brakes on the trailer, and a controller in my vehicle by myself. I had never installed electric brakes before. Everything works perfectly!

by:

Amazing and professional service! I had to keep myself from completing the job too fast and rushing through steps. Attention to details is a must when working with electrical systems and with some patience I was happy to say I completed a successful job. I will be a repeat customer!

  • Parts Needed To Tow a Trailer With Electric Trailer Brakes Behind a 2015 Freightliner M2
You will need the Curt Class V Universal Weld-on Receiver Hitch # 15902 for your 2015 Freightliner M2. This will allow you to weld on a receiver with up to 10.865" of drop. For the trailer lighting you will need a combination of the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter # C59236 and the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 to get to a 7-way blade trailer connector. Do note the wiring to reach the battery is 25' long so if your chassis is longer you will need additional Wire # 10-2-1 to reach...

  • Parts Needed to Install a Brake Controller in a 2012 Nissan NV
I wish there was a plug and play harness that would allow you to install a Tekonsha brake controller but it looks like you are going to have to hardwire a brake controller to your 2012 Nissan NV. The first thing you will need is a 4-way if you do not have one already at the rear of your vehicle. For that I would recommend the Tow Ready Wiring Harness # 118553. I attached installation instructions for this product for you to check out also. Next, you will need to convert the 4-way to a...

The best way so hookup a P3 # 90195 to a Volvo semi is to wire the semi with its own separate 7 blade connector. For that you can use the Tekonsha # 119250KIT and the Universal Install Kit # ETBC7. This will include all of the components needed to wire the 7-way, including all of the necessary wires for the P3 brake controller. The # ETBC7 kit comes with 25' of wire, for a semi you may need additional wire, and for that we sell wire by the foot with part # 10-2-1. I have linked a few install...

Currently, there is no wiring harness made for the 2010 Nissan Xterra with a factory tow package. If it is anything like the 2010 Nissan Titan, there should be a factory harness located underneath and left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal. It is a 6-pin connector that mates with the # 3050-P brake control wiring adapter. I recommend checking ahead of time to see if the harness is there. But I have a similar solution that would be just as easy. Instead you'd want to run the double bonded wire part # 10-2-1 (sold by the foot) to the battery of the vehicle and then attach both leads to the battery post and you'll essentially have run "one" wire to power both the converter of the 4-way and the 12 volt...
