2016 Saturn Relay

It just 16 gauge wire, but the video explaining the light relay installation indicated the perfect amount to complete the routing and installation.

Comments
The wiring is still in place with no signs of wear.

  • Troubleshooting Radiator Fan With 12V Battery Where Wires Get Very Hot
The wires may not be the correct gauge. They should not have been hot with 12V power. The motor may be drawing too much power as well. If the motor isn't overheating, than replacing the wires should solve the problem. You can use # 16-1-1 or # 12-1-1 depending on the amperage needs of your motor and the length of wire needed. Longer distances requires thicker gauge wire for proper amperage.

  • Troubleshooting Curt Custom Vehicle Wiring Harness Blowing Running Light Fuse
The reason the Curt Custom Vehicle Wiring Harness you purchased is blowing a running light fuse is there is a short somewhere on the running light circuit. I recommend thoroughly checking the brown wire on the connector back to the connectors on your 2006 Dodge Dakota looking for any spots where the wire is showing that could short, or for any other damaged sections of wire. Any damaged spots will need to be replaced by splicing in # 16-1-1. I included a link to a helpful article on...

  • Troubleshooting Power from Connector on Pickup but No Trailer Lights
If the connector on your pickup shows power for the lights when you test it then the issue should be on your trailer. You can verify this by connecting a different trailer to your pickup or by using a 12V battery to power the individual pins on your connector. Just ground the negative terminal and use a wire from the positive terminal to power the different pins. The most common issue with trailer lights that aren't working is a bad ground. Since none of your lights are working though...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Running Lights Not Working But Trailer Connector Has Power
Since you mentioned you are getting power to the brown running light circuit wire, but the running lights are not turning on there is few a possibilities. The most common issue is a ground is bad. I recommend checking that the running lights have a ground wire connected to clean corrosion free metal. If they ground through the studs make sure they are attached directly to metal. If the trailer has a tilt bed or is aluminum you may need to run a jumper wire from each lights ground to the...

The 60 inch blue wire of part # 20036 used to make the connection to the reverse light function is 16 gauge. Additional Primary Wiring can be purchased by the foot in 16-Gauge Black # 16-1-1 if needed. A video resource is included below should you want additional information.

  • 1995 Gooseneck Sundowner Rewiring Components
A junction box like the part # 277-000141 is the place to start when rewiring a trailer. Basically you'd need to mount it on the frame of the trailer in a location that allows the 7-way enough length to reach the front of the trailer. For wiring we have 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 which you'd run for the ground, the 12 volt accessory, and the brake output. To run the wires for the lighting functions you could use the part # 16-4B-1 which we also sell by the foot. This a jacketed set...

  • How to Create a Better Ground for a Clearance Light on a Trailer
Since you have already determined that it is a ground issue (which is almost always the problem) I would try sanding down the area you are installing the clearance light on. A good ground will have a solid connection to a clean, bare metal surface. If the screws are loose (as you found) or the metal has some paint or debris on it there could be some issues. If that doesn't work you can also try using a ring terminal like part # DW05737-1 and some 16 Gauge Wire # 16-1-1 to create a better...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Turn Signals that Both Flash when Either Turn Signal is Activated
I recommend we start by testing the 4-Pole connector on the # 118381 harness. You can use a circuit tester, like # 40376, to test the pins on the connector for each function. This is easiest if you can have a buddy sit in the vehicle and signal the lights while you test for the functions at the connector. I have attached a video showing how to test a 4-Pole connector for you. If the connector doesn't test for the proper stop, turn, and taillight functions, then you will want to check...

  • Recommended Wire and Connector for 5-Way Round Application
For a 5-way round trailer connector, I recommend the Pollak 5-Pole, Round Pin Trailer Wiring Connector - Chrome - Trailer End # PK11501. Most people will use the Bonded 4 Wire - per foot # 16-4B-1 to connect the signals and then run # 16-1-1 for the other function needed.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring When Running Lights Are Not Working
The running lights on a trailer are on a different wiring circuit than the brake/turn signals which on standard trailer wiring are combined functions and separated left side from right side. I've attached an article to assist. I recommend using a circuit tester like # 40376 to test the functions on your trailer connector. If the running light function works at the vehicle side trailer connection, then you will look to your trailer wiring. If it doesn't work on the vehicle side, you...

  • Recommended Gauge of Wiring for Trailer Lights
Trailer wiring generally uses 16 gauge wire, part # 16-1-1. However, with a long trailer like yours you may want to go with a larger like 14 gauge # DW07550-1 or even 12 gauge # 12-1-1. Each size is sold by the foot. You will need to have the lights at the rear of the trailer of brakes and turn signals. Also since the trailer will be 10 feet wide you need clearance lights on each side.

  • Wiring Diagram for Home Made Trailer
I've linked an article on trailer wiring that includes a diagram you might find helpful. One solution to help wire everything together is to use a junction box with your trailer's 7-way connector, like # 277-000141. This way you can run all of your trailer's wires to the box instead of to the back of the connector. To wire you brakes you'll want to use 10 gauge wiring # 10-1-1. For the lights you can use 16 gauge, # 16-1-1. Both are sold by the foot. When looking into the back of...

  • Will Edge Backup Camera Fit a 2006 Dodge Ram with Edge CTS Monitor
Since the Edge product you have is a CTS model then you can use the backup camera # EP98201 on your 2006 Dodge Ram diesel. The wiring should be long enough depending on how you route it from the monitor to the camera at the back. If it is not you would have to splice in the required length of wire. We have some 16 gauge wire, # 16-1-1, that is sold by the foot.

  • Wire Needed When Installing Derale Temperature Gauge Kit
The wire is not included with the Derale Temperature Gauge Kit, # D13009. Per the installation instructions you can use 18 gauge wire to reach from the gauge where it is mounted to a 12 volt switched ignition source, a suitable ground location, and to the transmission fluid line. We do not offer 18 gauge wire but you could use 16 gauge wire like part # 16-1-1 and not have any problem. This is ordered by the foot on our website.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Running Light Function When Bulb Has Been Tested
It sounds like you may have a bad running light wire or a bad ground. If you have adequate power when you check the power on that running light wire using a circuit tester like # PTW2993, then a ground wire is likely at fault. Even a ground that appears good and allows some light functions can be bad and miss one function. Running lights don't pull the same amount of power as a stop light and turn signal, so it is likely the ground is the issue. Make sure your connection is bare metal...

  • Connecting Truck Camper Third Brake Light On 2007 Nissan Frontier
To wire the brake light on your Leer topper you will need a dedicated brake light only circuit. The 4-way harness on your truck has multiple functions for the pins used for the brake lights. One pin will be for running lights, one for left turn/brake, one for right turn/brake, and the fourth is the ground. Since you have separate wiring on your Frontier, the easiest way to find the right wire is to pull the tail light and use a circuit tester like part # 3808 to find the wire behind the...

To wire a brake light only on a truck bed topper/camper shell you will need a dedicated brake light only circuit. • Troubleshooting the Left Turn Signal Not Working on Trailer
It sounds like you have checked just about everything there is to check. Since you said that you have checked all of the connections and tried a different trailer with your vehicle and it worked fine, the only other thing that I can think of is for you to check the wiring itself. Start on either of end the trailer and follow the wiring that goes to your left turn signal. Check for any corroded, exposed, bent, or damaged sections. Use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 and check for power on the 11 o'clock pin when your trailer is not connected. If it is not an issue there, you will need to trace that...

  • Troubleshooting Dim Function of Brake Light and Turn Signal on Travel Trailer
Since the brake light and turn signal are still functioning, just are dim, it does sound like a connection issue. I recommend checking the ground for corrosion or rust and just cleaning it up and if that doesn't solve your issue, then put a circuit tester like # PTW2993 on it. The incandescent bulb in the tester should show a difference, so if it does or doesn't you have isolated which wiring needs to be checked for a short and replaced. Normally light wiring is # 16-1-1 wire.
