7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector, 6' Long - H20044

Average Customer Rating:  4.7 out of 5 stars   (238 Customer Reviews)

Immediately, I could tell the quality of this trailer wire connector is much better than the china connector that the factory installed on my trailer. I anticipate this will definitely resolve the connection issues that I have experienced from day one with my new trailer. Sometimes you just have to solve problems yourself. I recommend using products from etrailer!

The 7 way worked great and was a perfect match for my 2018 Ram 3500. I had to rewire substandard wiring and remove all the guillotine connectors on my 2017 GD Reflection 337RLS brake system. How they let this off the assembly line is beyond me. Intermittent truck alarms (check trailer) and brakes all the way from Mexico to WA...not fun. GD used 14 and 16 gauge wire with scotchlock connectors from the pin-box to the magnets...even had scotchlock splices inside the underbelly where you cant easily get too. Anyway I have 10 gauge marine tinned copper from the pin-box to the axles and circle connectors in waterproof boxes at the axles and legitimate crimped butt connectors with heat shrink (the good marine kind). I also bonded a 4awg ground to the frame at the pin-box and at the axles. What a disgrace that GD let this out of the factory. Anyway, Ive been very very happy with all the folks at etrailer...they care. See you on the road...Jim & Christine.

Good service. I had called and confirmed the details about the cord and plug. The salesperson was very helpful and gave me a good target date for delivery. Got it today as was promised. I’ve got it installed and it works well. It has a quality heavy duty cord that is molded into the plug. Time will tell if my hopes for longevity is achieved. Thanks and keep up the good service!!

Comments
Here in west Texas, it is dry and hot. The trailer sits outside and is in the elements. The cord and connector are holding up well. Works every time!! Thanks for providing a good product with service to match.

Excellent! Has made my trailer safe as this replaced the original trailer wire connectors. Thanks!

E-trailer did a great job of getting this product out to me.

Good solid connector at a great price. My hope is to introduce one less variable into the rewire of the utility trailer.

Well made plug. This is the second one I have ordered. Even though it is well made, it does not hold up to being dragged down the road for 10 miles. Highly recommended.

My drum brakes locked up on me because it is a boat trailer and gets submerged in water. I hate drum brakes, due how many part are inside and can rust up. I am the 3rd owner of my 1998 boat trailer and it was hard to figure out what I needed to fix it. I contacted etrailer and they were super helpful, super informative and super easy to work with. I told them what I had, and what I wanted to do., and they put a package together for me and that was them. Everything was super east to install because it is all bolt on. I did have to do some cutting and grinding on my old tongue because the master was welded on. That was the only difficult part. My new setup is amazing and the disk brakes and new master make it feel like my boat is not even there. All in all, I am 110% satisfied and will definitely be a returning customer for any trailer needs. Thank you etrailer for making everything super easy.

The color coding of the wiring in relation to their position was all incorrect to what is recognized as standard. Since the plug is molded there is no way to switch positions of the wires. I had to use a continuity tester to determine what was what. The trailer brake circuit was the only one that was correct

Comments
There is more than one accepted color coding for a 7-way trailer connector, which is why we list the color code on the product description that shows which function each wire color carries. Heres a link to our Trailer Wiring help article that you might find helpful.

Plug was not wired to standard. Wire colors did not match to the correct pins in the plug. Molded plug and wire quality is fine but lack of standard makes use unnecessarily complicated.

Comments
The turn signals and tail light functions of this molded plug are not the standard wiring colors. Please take a look at the chart on the product page to compare the wiring colors of the Hopkins to the standard wiring colors and their functionalities.

Used this product to extend the trailer's factory cable due to the new tow vehicle's receptacle was farther from the camper tongue. After one year, it is still working well. All wire colors were correct.

Still working well!

Solid quality.

The connector is a good piece, however the colors do not match up. Anyone familiar with trailer and truck wiring knows that the wires are all color coded for a reason. If your not going to make the colors match up then why utilize the same colors? I hard wired everything neatly and then found out brown doesn't go to brown, and so on.... Had to test every lead to get it all wired properly... extremely aggravating. My suggestion is that the wires be run properly so they can all match color wise... and if that's not possible, then send a wiring diagram along with the harness when it is shipped.

Was able to order compatible load bars for an older draw-tote hitch. Upon my fitst call to etrailer, they couldn't identify the part number I provided. I was given a phone number for Draw-Tite, who was sold to SCParts. They only provide parts to retailers, but they looked up the replacement part number, gave it to me, and said to call E-trailer with the partnumber, as they had found the item on E-trailers website, so after a runaround I was able to purchase my replacement load bars. Only comment I have would be to build a cross reference catalog for older weight distribution hitches

It was easy to find the right part I needed and it was delivered on time. Thank you!!

Initially this product seemed perfect. It is stout and seems to be able to hold up to the wear and tear of the road. It fits far better then the cheap connector I picked up at the convenient store. The length was more than adequate to replace my old connector. However, after installing it my lights went CRAZY!! My passenger side turn signal was constantly on. When I hit the driver side turn signal all the lights flashed. The brakes did turn anything on. So I completely disconnected it and got out my trusted multimeter. Turns out that the brown wire went to the green on the trailer, the yellow to the brown, the green to the red, ect. It was a mess. Within 10 minutes I had the wires feeding the correct lights. I'm not sure if it is because Chevrolet doesn't use the industry standard or if my connector was defective. Either way it's fixed now and works great!! Even with all of those problems I still give it 4 stars.

good product, as advertised

Plug seems ok, not really impressed with the flexibility though, in the sun it’s nice but around 50 degrees With no sun it got very stiff. I don’t see it working very well in cold temperatures. Next time I’ll have to look for a better option.

- H20044

The items that I orderd were received in a very timley manner. I had originally ordered a different trailer pig tail and etrailer contacted me and let me know that the items were back ordered from the supplier and made recomendations on what they had in stock. The staff at etailer are very proffesonal and I will diffenitly purchase from them in the future.

I have another option for you, but the only hub and drum assemblies available with the 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern are only rated for wheels up to 16-1/2" diameter and are not designed to work with 17" wheels. Starting with the axle for your M105 Military Trailer that you are doing an overland conversion on I recommend going with the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System - 2" Lift Spindle w/ Brake Flange - 5,200 lbs # TASR5200S05 or the 4" lift version # TASR5200S03. • Recommended Durable 7-way Trailer Connector Pigtail
Hopkins does a very good job of constructing their molded 7-way trailer connector pigtails for durability, I can highly recommend part # H20044, which is 6 feet long. The best way to connect this to existing wiring is to use a junction box like # 3375601101. A junction box allows you to tidy up the connections, protect them from the elements and provides an easy way to change out the pigtail in the future should it become damaged again. One of the best ways to preserve the long term functionality...

The wiring and connectors used on the 4-way harness are not designed to be used with the 20amps of power you will putting on the connector.
