Video Transcript for Spectro 1/4 Inch Wire Loom Review

Today on this old trailer we're going to review and install the Spectro 3/4" wire loom, part number 7509. The Spectro wire loom is a 3/4" inner diameter, which is just large enough for three 14 to 16-gauge wires. It will help protect your wiring as it's run through sharp edges, or if it's exposed to the outside elements. That will do it for our review and install of the Spectro 3/4" diameter wire loom, part number 7509, on this old trailer. .

Wire Loom 1/4" Diameter, 100' Long - 7509

I bought this loom to protect my wiring under the vehicle and behind the paneling on the back of a mini van. I used it for a tow package wiring harness and routed it underneath the van from the back to the front. It met my expectations and there was plenty left over. Wit seemed durable enough to have confidence that the wiring would be protected for many years.

This loom is awesome. Great quality. I still have plenty of loom left as I purchased way more than I needed. I think I probably only used about 20-25 feet for my 2014 Sienna. If youre doing the same install, I would recommend getting about that much instead of the 100. Im sure I can find other uses for it though so on the other hand, it might be nice to have if needed for future wiring projects.one thing I remember is that it was a bit stiff still very flexible and if there was a spreader tool to open the loom while laying the wire in, it probably would have gone faster.

Super good way of eliminating stray wires that are associated with each other. Really helps neaten up a desktop with multiple devices. 1/4" inch size is ideal for smaller wires like telephone. Used the loom to enclose the phone line with the power supply line for the phone.

  • Recommended Routing of Power Wire for Powered Taillight Converter Install on 2018 Toyota Camry
I don't have a specific routing to recommend, but I do have some helpful guidelines for you. You'll want to avoid anything hot or moving, like steering, exhaust or suspension components. Some folks like to use wire loom, like part # 7509-10 (sold in 10-foot lengths) to protect the wire. Usually, the best practice is to find an existing wiring harness and follow that. Be sure to use plenty of zip ties to secure the wire. I've linked to a help article on the subject, which provides other...

  • Tips for Routing Trailer Wiring Harness Power Wire to Battery on a 2011 Kia SOrento
Wire loom is not necessary but it can be used to protect the wire. You can get a 10 foot long section # 7509-10. You would likely need more than 10 feet though. Routing the wire on any vehicle is a matter of preference. There are basically 3 ways to do it: under the vehicle exposed, under the vehicle not exposed or partially exposed, and through the vehicle interior. I have included a link to the right to a help article I wrote with tips on routing the power wire.

  • Guidelines for Running Power Line to Front of Vehicle When Installing Powered Taillight Converter
There is no one 'accepted' method for running that power wire to the battery. Our installers will usually try to follow existing wiring harnesses, or will choose the route that keeps the wire well protected. I don't have any video footage to show you, but I can link you to an FAQ article we've produced that will give you some good guidelines to follow. If the wire will be exposed, using some wire loom like part # 7509-10 will provide some additional protection. You can use zip ties to secure...

  • How To Install Hopkins Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole 37185
I am happy to help you install the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole part # 37185 on the 2003 Subaru Baja. If your trailer does not have brakes and you are using the plug as an adapter to adapt your 4-Way to a 7-way then all you would need to do is mount the plug and ground it to a clean bare metal surface of the vehicle's frame. Then plug your existing 4-Way into the pigtail that comes off the plug and your set. if you are wiring in a brake controller you will need to extend the wires...

  • Jacketed 5 Pole Trailer Wiring
The best I can do for you is recommend getting the Hopkins Wiring Harness # HM37918 and some wire loom # 7509. The only jacketed wiring we have are 4 pole connectors. The wiring harness is plenty long so you can just cut off the excess. If you only need exactly 10ft you can get the 10ft roll of loom # 7509-10. One thing you could do is get this # DW04906-1 jacketed 6-wire which you can buy per foot. You won't use the 6th wire so just cap it off if need be.

  • Routing and Protecting Trailer Brake Magnet Wires when Adding Electric Brakes to a Trailer
There are many things to consider when adding electric drum brakes to a trailer. I have included a link to our FAQ article that covers everything you will need. As far as routing the wires, first, you can attach the ground wires for the magnets nearby to the frame leaving enough slack for the travel of the suspension. For the power wire you would come off the magnet and run the wire to the front of the trailer along the frame. You can use a combination of wire loom # 7509 and loom clamps,...

  • Are TorkLift GlowStep Scissor Step Locks Keyed The Same As Their Camper Tie-Down Pin Locks
The Pin Lock for TorkLift GlowStep Scissor Steps # TLA7509 is keyed differently than the Pin Locks for TorkLift FastGun and Derringer Turnbuckle Handles # TLS9500 that you referenced. They are the same type of key but are just not keyed alike unfortunately. TorkLift has 14 different key codes that they use so the likelihood of someone else having the same key is a lot smaller than that of compartment door handle keys.

  • Can Hopkins VueSmart Backup Camera # HM34FR be Used on Cargo Trailer with Ramp
The VueSMART RV and Trailer Backup Camera part # HM34FR does require the running light circuit for activation. So while I am not totally sure what your setup looks like you'd basically need to mount the camera where it will work the best and then run a wire from the running light circuit to it. If you were wanting to mount this on the back of a ramp I'd recommend putting it close to the middle of the ramp so that when it folds down it does not hit the ground. You might also want wire loom...

  • Installation of Curt C56079 Trailer Taillight Wiring Converter on 2010 Toyota Venza
Thank you very much! I'll pass that along to our video and install crew. The best way to make that wiring run from the rear of the vehicle up to the battery would be to locate and follow an existing wiring harness under the vehicle, and zip tie the taillight converter power wire to that every couple of feet. You'll want to be sure to avoid anything moving or hot like suspension or exhaust components. If you drive on gravel roads quite a bit, you might also consider a length of wire loom...

You'll have a couple lbs of packing materials so you will be adding around 32-33 lbs to your camper. For security, I recommend adding the Pin Lock for TorkLift GlowStep Scissor Steps # TLA7509. This is designed to give you the option to easily remove, but also deter theft when installed.

  • What is the Best Size Wire Loom for Bonded 4 Wire and One 12 Gauge Wire
I would go with a 3/8 inch diameter, like # 39035. That should provide enough space for the wires and still give good coverage. This loom comes in a 10 foot length. If you needed less of expect that you might have other wiring to run with the existing wires, you can go to a 1/2 inch loom, sold in 1 foot increments, # 459075-1.

  • Is a Trailer Wiring Converter Needed for a 2011 Jeep Liberty
Yes, a converter is needed for a 2011 Jeep Liberty because one the tail light circuits are on separate wires and they need to be combined for a trailer and two the factory tail light circuits are not sufficient to power the lights on a trailer as well as the lights on the vehicle.
