Video Transcript for All About the Quick Splices

Today we're going to take a look at the closed port quick splice self stripping connector in the yellow color. This is for a quantity of one. Now this closed port quick splice self stripping connector is designed to splice into an existing wire without having to cut, crimp, or strip. Provides an open channel on the front to attach to your existing wire and a closed channel in the back for the tap wire to go into. You can see it has this metal blade on it that's attached, to pierce the wires in each of the channels of the connector to make your connection. And their appliers needed to squeeze down on that blade after your wires are placed in there. I am going to demonstrate this, how it connects, at the end of this video.

This is for a quantity of one connector. The gauge wire this will fit is 10 to 12 gauge wire size. Maximum power rating, 600 volts. And again we're going to demonstrate, so I happen to have, let's say this is our existing wiring. So what you'll do is just push this into the front for the existing wiring, and then you want to tap this wire into that existing wiring. You'll just put that in the back one and it's a closed port, because if you noticed it won't let the wire go through in the back.

You just push it in all the way and it'll keep it right there. And then what you'll want to do once you have your two wires in there, just take your pliers, put it onto that blade, push that blade all the way down. There you go.And then once you pushed it all the way down, that'll connect your two wires. And then you'll have this cover portion that you just flip down and it snaps into place to cover it, protect it. And there you've tapped a wire into your existing wires.

Simple as that. But that should do it for the review on the closed port quick splice, self stripping connector in yellow for a quantity of one.

  • How To Install Redarc Tow-Pro Elite RED44FR In 2021 Hyundai Palisade
I would be happy to help! While you are correct that your 2021 Hyundai Palisade comes prewired for a 7-way connector, there is not a trailer brake controller harness compatible with the trailer brake controller port underneath the dash of your vehicle. What I recommend is getting the 7-way connector from your local Hyundai Dealer as they are currently the only people that have one available that will plug into your vehicle without splicing or running wires. Then to install the Redarc...

  • Is Spectro as Good as 3M
While I can't address why we carry some products and not others what I can tell you is that the Spectro Quick Splice Wire Connector # SWC501915-1 you referenced is absolutely comparable in quality to the 3M we carry in the higher gauge. If you take a look at the reviews for part # SWC501915-1 you can see our customers who have used it have had no qualms with it.

  • Best Wiring Options for Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer
You have a few options when it comes to 5th wheel wiring for your truck. Most trucks come with factory 7-way trailer connectors at the bumper. If your truck has a factory 7-way, then I recommend installing a 5th wheel wiring harness like the Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel Harness, # 41157. In-bed harnesses provide a quick and easy connection point in the bed, so you don't have to modify the existing trailer harness to make it longer or use an extension. This harness has a 90-degree plug,...

  • Parts Needed to Add Electric Brakes to a Trailer
Sounds like you are looking for everything needed to install electric trailer brakes on a trailer that did not originally come with electric brakes. I attached a link to an FAQ to the right that will walk you through the entire process. As far as wiring, what you will need to do is run a wire from the front of the trailer to each brake location. You will need 10 gauge blue primary wire, part # 10-1-1, which is sold by the foot. I would recommend measuring where you will be running the...

  • Wiring Reverse Light Circuit to 7 Way Connector on 2016 GMC Terrain
The center pin of a 7-way is typically the reverse light circuit. You'd need to tap into the reverse light circuit of your 2016 GMC Terrain to activate it. For a quick splice for 14-18 gauge wire you'd want # SWC501746-1 or for 10-12 gauge wire # SWC501915-1. I'd recommend strongly that you run the 12 volt power wire back to the positive post of the battery and not to a 12 volt outlet to prevent shorting out that circuit.

Your 2014 Jeep Wrangler JK does not have a plug-in brake controller port under the dash so wiring in a controller like the Prodigy P3 # 90195 will require hardwiring. We offer a complete installation kit # ETBC7 that includes all the parts needed, including a 7-way. Although you have a 7-way socket now, its not a bad idea to have a spare on hand. • No Power To Reverse Lights On Trailer
In this senario, I would run a wire from the center pin of the 7-way to the reverse light circuit on your truck. This will enable you to bypass the fuse. Because of this direct connection you should be able to back up without your trailer brakes engaging. It is best to use a quick splice like part # SWC501915-1 to tap into the circuit after probing the wiring for the reverse light with a tester like part # PTW2993. This bypasses your issue but doesn't actually fix the problem of not getting...

The connector sounds like it might be a quick splice connector such as # SWC501915-1 also known as a Scotch Lock which is the 3M name brand.
