Video Transcript for Review of Spectro Wiring - SWC501915-1

Today we're going to take a look at the closed port quick splice self stripping connector in the yellow color. This is for a quantity of one. Now this closed port quick splice self stripping connector is designed to splice into an existing wire without having to cut, crimp, or strip. Provides an open channel on the front to attach to your existing wire and a closed channel in the back for the tap wire to go into. You can see it has this metal blade on it that's attached, to pierce the wires in each of the channels of the connector to make your connection. And their appliers needed to squeeze down on that blade after your wires are placed in there. I am going to demonstrate this, how it connects, at the end of this video.

This is for a quantity of one connector. The gauge wire this will fit is 10 to 12 gauge wire size. Maximum power rating, 600 volts. And again we're going to demonstrate, so I happen to have, let's say this is our existing wiring. So what you'll do is just push this into the front for the existing wiring, and then you want to tap this wire into that existing wiring. You'll just put that in the back one and it's a closed port, because if you noticed it won't let the wire go through in the back.

You just push it in all the way and it'll keep it right there. And then what you'll want to do once you have your two wires in there, just take your pliers, put it onto that blade, push that blade all the way down. There you go.And then once you pushed it all the way down, that'll connect your two wires. And then you'll have this cover portion that you just flip down and it snaps into place to cover it, protect it. And there you've tapped a wire into your existing wires.

Simple as that. But that should do it for the review on the closed port quick splice, self stripping connector in yellow for a quantity of one.

  • How to Tap Into 3rd Brake Light Wire on 2005 GMC Sierra
We do not have OEM type vehicle wiring connectors but you can make a spliced connection to your 2005 Sierra's 3rd brake light wire using a Quick-Splice connector such as # SWC501915-1. These allow you to tap into that vehicle wire's brake light switch signal which is sometimes required for hardwired brake controller installations.

  • Wiring Reverse Light Circuit to 7 Way Connector on 2016 GMC Terrain
The center pin of a 7-way is typically the reverse light circuit. You'd need to tap into the reverse light circuit of your 2016 GMC Terrain to activate it. For a quick splice for 14-18 gauge wire you'd want # SWC501746-1 or for 10-12 gauge wire # SWC501915-1. I'd recommend strongly that you run the 12 volt power wire back to the positive post of the battery and not to a 12 volt outlet to prevent shorting out that circuit.

  • Is Spectro as Good as 3M
While I can't address why we carry some products and not others what I can tell you is that the Spectro Quick Splice Wire Connector # SWC501915-1 you referenced is absolutely comparable in quality to the 3M we carry in the higher gauge. If you take a look at the reviews for part # SWC501915-1 you can see our customers who have used it have had no qualms with it.

  • Installing Trailer Brake Controller on 2012 Monaco Knight Motorhome
Based on my research, it looks like your 2012 Monaco Knight Motorhome is built on the custom-built Roadmaster Chassis. We do not currently have a plug-in wiring adapter available for your RV, however there should be a built-in harness next to the air brake pedal. You will just need to connect the wires from the brake controller pigtail to this harness. I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885. This is a great proportional controller that will activate...

  • How To Add In-Bed Gooseneck Wiring To a Chevrolet C/K Series
I have the perfect solution for you to add an in-bed gooseneck wiring harness to your 1994 Chevrolet C/K Series Pickup with the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole part # 37185. For this, you can use part # 20023. Basically, the above harness will just splice into the wires you have ran to the above 4 to 7-way adapter with connectors such as part # SWC501746-1 (4) and part # SWC501915-1 (2). This option will allow you to retain the use of both connection points.

  • Can Second Switch be Added to Lippert Slide Out on RV
Yes, if you wanted to add a second switch with the part # LC117460 to your slide out setup you can wire this switch to the same wiring as your current switch and it will function just like your current switch as it will complete the circuits in the same way. Since the wiring is 12 gauge you can use the 10-12 gauge quick splice part # SWC501915-1 to easily tap into the same circuits

  • Brake Controller and Wiring Recommendation for 2008 Monaco Knight Motor Home
Let's start with the brake controller. My personal recommendation is for the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, # 90195. This is a customer favorite because of how easy it is to setup and how well it works. Now for the wiring. Although your 2008 Monaco Knight motor home is pre-wired with a plug for a brake controller, I do not have a wiring harness with plug that has been confirmed to fit. In this case I recommend using Quick Splice Wire Connector, # SWC501915-1, to connect the wires from the controller's...

  • Finding 12v Constant Power Wire On A 2002 Chevrolet Silverado
The most common way to get power from the rear of your vehicle is to get it from the running lights. Go to your lights in the back and start your truck. Test to make sure you have the running light power wire and splice into it using this connector # SWC501915-1. That's perfect for your backup camera because you're not pulling power from the front of the vehicle and having to run all that wire back to the camera.

  • How To Install a Trailer Wiring Harness to a 2011 Toyota RAV4
You will not want to connect your trailer wiring directly to the wiring harness of your 2011 Toyota RAV4. You will need to isolate the trailer wiring from the vehicles sensitive circuitry, so it does not put a strain on the system and cause your vehicles wiring harness to be overloaded and fail. I would recommend to use the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, part # 118412. This wiring harness will plug into connectors located behind the vehicles tail lights and comes with a powered Modulite...

  • Determining Factory Wire Color Functions for Brake Controller Port on 2016 Ram 3500
The easiest way to install your Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 is to use the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3024-P. If you need to hardwire install the controller, I can help you determine which wire colors carry which functions on the vehicle side brake controller installation port in your 2016 Ram 3500. • No Power To Reverse Lights On Trailer
In this senario, I would run a wire from the center pin of the 7-way to the reverse light circuit on your truck. This will enable you to bypass the fuse. Because of this direct connection you should be able to back up without your trailer brakes engaging. It is best to use a quick splice like part # SWC501915-1 to tap into the circuit after probing the wiring for the reverse light with a tester like part # PTW2993. This bypasses your issue but doesn't actually fix the problem of not getting...

  • How Do I Wire My Trailer For Brakes That Already Has Brakes
What you will need to do is run a wire from the front of the trailer to each brake location. You will need 10 gauge blue primary wire, part # 10-1-1, which is sold by the foot. I would recommend measuring where you will be running the wire to order the correct amount, and it would be a good idea to order a couple extra feet so that you are not short of wiring. Start by leaving the wire loose at the front of the trailer and run to the farthest rear brake assembly on either side. Cut the...

  • Identifying Type of Brake Wire and Connectors Used on Trailer Brakes
The wire is likely just a version of automotive wire that is made more rigid so that it is easier to route it through tight spaces. Or it could be shielded wire or even cross-link wire. If you need some wire for electric brakes you can use # 10-1-1. The connector sounds like it might be a quick splice connector such as # SWC501915-1 also known as a Scotch Lock which is the 3M name brand.

There is no standard diagram for the 5-way round connector, item # PK11501. You will need to use a circuit tester, item # PTW2993, to test the wires and wire the vehicle and trailer to match. When wiring, your green wire will be right turn/brake, the yellow wire will be left turn/brake, the brown wire will be the taillights, and the white wire will be the ground.
