Video Transcript for All You Need to Know About the Quick Splices

Today we're going to take a look at the closed port KwikSplice self-stripping connector in red. It's for a quantity of one. Now this closed port KwikSplice self-stripping connector is designed to splice into an existing wiring without having to cut, crimp, or strip the wires. This is designed to fit the gauge size of 18 to 22 gauge wire size. Does provide an open channel in the front to attach to your existing wiring and a closed channel in the back for the tap-wire that's going to be tapped into that wire. If you notice, it has this metal blade which is attached to it and this is to pierce the wires in each of the channels of the connector to make your connection.

And there are pliers needed to squeeze down on that blade after the wires are placed in there. I am going to demonstrate at the end of this video how you will install the wires. This is for quantity of one connector. Maximum power rating is 600 volts. And now what we're going to do is I happen to pull two wires here. So if we use this one, let's say, as our existing wire, you can see how the open channel will allow you to clip right onto the existing wire just like that.

And then this wire, we want to attach to it. So what you want to do is this channel in the back is a closed port. You can put your tap wire in, push it and it won't go all the way through because it's closed at the end. So it allows you to push it all the way in to make a good connection. And then once you get them both in there, what you want to do is take your pliers, put it onto your connector there, push that connector all the way down, just like that.

And once you get it all the way flat, that makes your connections, it's tapping this wire into your existing wiring. And then for a nice seal, you just push this cover over it, clip it into place, locks it there, and now you're all ready to go, gives you a nice connection. But that should do it for the review on the closed port KwikSplice self-stripping connector in red for quantity of one.

Exactly what I needed to rewire a 20-year-old trailer that was starting to show it's age with inconsistent lighting performance and continuity issues. In addition to purchasing this lighting harness, I upgraded all my incandescent bulb side markers and taillights with LED units and complete rewired the trailer. etrailer had everything I needed in one place with excellent pricing and superb service. Everything is working great and I love the brightness and visibility of the LED lights.

  • Quick Splices for Curt Powered Tail Light Converter Wont Work on 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander
I do have an option for you but there is really no reason to use the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # C59236 on a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander as there is a custom kit available, the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # C43WR. The custom kit simply plugs in so there is no splice or warranty issues to worry about. That said, the connections that come with the universal harness can be sourced locally, you'd...

  • Installing Brake Controller on 2011 Jeep Liberty With Factory 7-Way Connector
Is the 7-way factory installed? If so, it'll say MOPAR on the spring loaded cover for the 7-way socket. If so, Jeep kind of prewired the vehicle by running the brake output circuit from the 7-way up to the passenger cab and terminating it under the dash, usually behind and above the e-brake pedal. You'll be looking for a coiled blue or light green wire that might have a tag affixed to it that reads 'trailer brake'. Sometimes the wire is located under the carpet in this area or behind the...
