My technical contact at Magnaflow confirmed that the grades of stainless steel used for all of their products are the same, including the types used for the Steel Cat-Back Exhaust System # MF15203 that you referenced.
The piping and body of their systems use a 400-grade stainless steel. The hardware and tips use a 304-grade stainless steel.

The muffler used with the MagnaFlow Exhaust Systems, part # MF15653 is labeled a straight-through muffler.
It has a stainless steel perforated core that runs straight through, end to end. It has a layer of stainless steel that absorbs noise inside the muffler and help prevent blowouts. As stated, this is a straight-through muffler so it has no bafflers or louvers that restrict airflow.
