Installing and removing the Swagman Around-the-Spare-Tire Deluxe Rack, part # S80501 is a breeze. The bike rack is designed so that a spare tire can remain bolted to your rear bumper while bolting this bike rack around it.
The bike rack is attached to your bumper by U bolts. Once the bike rack is on, the spare tire sits between the two uprights. To remove the spare tire, once the bike rack is bolted to the bumper, you'll remove the locking pins located on the lower section of the uprights.... view full answer...
The Surco Spare Tire 3-Bike Carrier # BT300, and all of the other spare tire racks for that matter, actually use the spare tire to help stabilize the bike rack so you will need your spare tire installed to utilize any of these bike racks. It would be best to have the spare tire for your 2013 Jeep Wrangler anyways in case you ever do have a flat.
We do have other bike rack options that mount on the roof (via a roof rack) or in a trailer hitch. If you'd rather go one of these routes instead... view full answer...
The Roadmaster Spare Tire Carrier # RM-195125 only has about 8 inches from the hitch pin hole to the back of the carrier and my understanding of Fiamma racks for motorhomes are that they are designed to sit pretty low when mounted on rails of motorhomes.
What you can do is use this spare tire carrier as a receiver for a bike rack, but you would need one that is rated for use on the back of a motorhome such as the Swagman Titan 2-Bike Rack # S63400. The Roadmaster Spare Tire Carrier will... view full answer...
The Thule Tram Ski and Snowboard Carrier Adapter for Hitch Bike Racks - 6 Pairs of Skis or 4 Boards, part # TH9033, needs a bike rack to be installed on your 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited in order to work. You can carry it on a hitch bike rack or a spare tire bike rack. If you want to carry it on a hitch bike rack, the first thing you will need is a hitch receiver. If you already have a hitch receiver you can skip ahead to the hitch bike rack.
My hitch receiver recommendation is the etrailer... view full answer...
The Thule Spare Me 2 Bike Rack # TH963PRO comes with two mounting brackets and two stand-off extensions and for your 235mm width spare tire you will use the Long Mounting Bracket and Short Standoff. view full answer...
In Yakima's installation instructions for the SpareRide, they state that opening the tailgate of the vehicle while the bikes are installed on the rack could result in damage to the vehicle. I'd recommend removing the bikes before opening the tailgate. The hinges of the tailgate are typically only rated for the weight of the door and spare tire itself with enough wiggle room to accommodate the approximate 25 lb weight of the bike rack.
The portion of the SpareRide rack that the bikes attach... view full answer...
Yes, the Thule Spare Me # TH963PRO can easily be removed when not in use. All you would have to do is unlock the knob if it is locked and loosen it until you can pull the bike rack off of the spare tire on your 2005 Jeep Wrangler. view full answer...
Yes, you can attach your spare tire cover without having to remove the spare tire and mounting plate each time you remove the Thule Spare Me 2 Bike Rack, # TH963PRO, from the back of your 2009 Toyota RAV4.
According to my contact at Thule, the shaft from the mounting plate that mounts behind the spare does not protrude past the outer edge of the tire so it will not interfere with your spare tire cover when you do not want the bike rack mounted on your vehicle. view full answer...
Yes, the Thule Tram Ski and Snowboard Carrier Adapter part # TH9033 will work with the Thule Apex 4 Bike Rack part # TH9025XT. However, the issue you are going to run into when using the Bike Rack on your 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler Unlimited is the rear spare tire.
In order to be sure the bike rack will clear the rear spare tire you will need to measure from the outside of the bumper beam to the outer edge of the spare tire on your Jeep (see photo). You will then need to subtract the length... view full answer...
The Swagman Around the Spare Mighty Rack, # S80501, is designed to fit around a spare tire that is already mounted to the back of an RV or trailer and is not designed to hold the tire. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view.
This rack is designed to fit on a continuous welded steel bumper that is 4 inches to 4-1/2 inches square. Make sure to check the owners manual to be sure the bumper can be used for this application. We do have several other bike racks... view full answer...
I've linked an article to help you determine the bolt pattern of your spare tire.
However, the Surco Bike Carrier # BT300 is not designed to be used on the back of a trailer or motorhome. There is a lot more movement back there then there is on a vehicle so the bike rack suffers a lot more stress. Unfortunately, none of our spare tire racks can be used on the back of an RV or trailer. I've attached a link to all of the racks we carry that can. view full answer...
I have a great solution for you. Even though the independently-adjusting cradles on the Yakima OnRamp # Y36FR eliminate the need of a bike frame adapter bar, the OnRamp is not safe to use on the back of a flat-towed vehicle. I I confirmed with the engineers at Yakima that the OnRamp cannot withstand the extra torque/forces exerted on the rack during transport on your 2019 Jeep Wrangler. Even if the OnRamp was approved, the 5-inch distance between the center of the pinhole and the closest... view full answer...
I would be happy to help clarify the confusion and set your 2022 Toyota Highlander XSE up with a hitch for your bike rack. The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver item # e75ZR does fit your Highlander XSE. This hitch is custom fit and bolts directly to your Highlander's frame with included hardware. The spare tire size does not have to do with the hitch fitting your vehicle. The issue with the spare tire on your Highlander is there is no room once the hitch is installed for the larger 20" spare... view full answer...
I do have another option for you but the Surco spare tire bike rack, part # BT300, does not fit oversized tires. Take a look at the Hollywood Racks SR2, part # HRSR2, instead. It'll fit up to 12-1/2 wide tires so it's pretty likely to fit your Jeep tires. The catch is it's only a 2-bike carrier. We don't have any 3-bike carriers that fit oversized tires.
I've posted a video of the SR2 on a 2016 Wrangler so you can see how it looks. view full answer...
Spare tire bike racks like the Hollywood Racks SR1 2-Bike Carrier - Spare Tire Mount # HRSR1 that you mentioned, will require you to have to remove your backup camera for installation.
The only way around this is to use a hitch mounted bike rack like the:
-Kuat Beta Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Trailer Hitches # B202-2.
If you don't have a hitch already, you can use the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98856.
The Kuat Beta bike rack has a maximum carrying capacity of 40-lbs per bike,... view full answer...
When you install the Thule Spare Me 2 # TH963PRO on the spare tire of your 2003 Honda CR-V you will need to adjust the mounting plate as far to the left (drivers side) as possible. When you load your bikes, you will want to load them in the center of your vehicle rather than in the center of the rack. By using both of these methods, you be as center as possible. I have attached a short installation video on a SUV that has the spare tire more on the right (passengers) side of the vehicle.

Yes, you will be able to open the back glass, swings up, and then the tailgate, swings to the side, with the SpareRide 2 Bike Rack, item # Y02599, installed on the back of your 2005 Jeep Liberty.
Opening the rear gate is not recommend with bikes installed on the rack, see instructions link. Opening the door with the weight of the bikes hanging on the rack would eventually damage the hinges on the gate causing it to sag and not close properly. You should also be aware that the bike rack... view full answer...
I think the confusion is that bike rack # HRSR1 is called the SR1 and if you just glance at the title, Hollywood Racks SR1 2-Bike Carrier - Spare Tire Mount, it can be easy to miss the "2" indicating 2 bikes. It is most definitely a 2-bike rack.
If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide... view full answer...
The anti-sway cradles on the Thule Spare Me bike rack, # TH963PRO, do need to be positioned a certain way, but there is not a left or right. I have made short video that shows how to remove and reinstall the anti-sway cradles on the rack for you. view full answer...
To use a bike rack on your towable camper, you'll need to install a frame mounted trailer hitch receiver instead, like the Curt adjustable RV and camper hitch receiver # 13703, which fits trailers with frames between 22 and 72 inches.
For a three bike rack, I recommend the Swagman Original # S64152-2 or for a 4 bike rack, I recommend the Yakima LongHaul # Y02476, both of which are approved to be used behind an RV or camper, like yours. view full answer...
