Expert Answers about Exhaust Tips

  • Exhaust Tip to Deepen Exhaust Note on 2014 Dodge Charger RT
  • An exhaust tip will make mostly a cosmetic change to a vehicle. Tips will not change the nature of a car's exhaust note nearly as much as installation of a cold air intake and a cat-back exhaust. Those components literally change the nature of the car's respiration system. If you don't mind what is perhaps a weird analogy to help explain this, if the CAI and exhaust are the "lungs" of the vehicle, then the exhaust tip is the "nostril". Its more visible but has less effect on performance. That...

  • What is the Difference Between a Resonator Exhaust Tip and a Regular Exhaust Tip
  • A resonator exhaust tip can be considered as a cavity resonator in which the design causes the air to vibrate a certain way in a hollow cavity which produces a certain sound. They can be used in some systems to work with the muffler to reduce noise. But at the tip, a resonator exhaust tip will produce more noise versus a regular exhaust tip. That loud, high frequency, reverberation sound you hear on import tuner cars is resonator exhaust. If that is the sound you are looking for, then...

  • Using Exhaust Tips to Redirect Exhaust Away From Cargo Carrier
  • An exhaust tip that re-directs the exhaust gasses downward can indeed help protect items carried on a cargo carrier from excess heat. Using a carrier like # 63153 that has an angled shank to raise the carrier further away from the exhaust pipes also helps. If you click the provided link, you can see the various tips we have available. To choose the correct tip, you'll need to measure the outside diameter of your exhaust pipe. Most of the tips are weld-on applications, so you'd need to...

  • Which Magnaflow Exhaust Tip Will Fit 2.1 Inch Exhaust On 1968 Ford F-100 Truck
  • I spoke with our representative at Magnaflow and he informed me that the closest tip that is available to fit 2.1 inch exhaust is 2-1/4 inches. He informed me that you would need to have the tips installed at an exhaust shop, as they would need to either use a sleeve for the tip to fit tightly or flex the exhaust pipe out to 2-1/4 inches for the tip to fit correctly. The item you selected, MagnaFlow 3 Inch Exhaust Tip - Stainless, Clamp-On for 2-1/4 - 2-1/2 Inch Tailpipe, part # MF35208,...

  • Should I Keep My Normal Exhaust Tips Or Use A Resonated Tip
  • A resonated tip like part # PM-5104 is basically a hollow tube that allows air to vibrate inside of it and makes your exhaust louder. It could cause your current exhaust set up to sound slightly louder but you probably won't notice much of a difference. If you like the way your exhaust system sounds now, I recommend to use a normal tip.

  • Should I Replace Resonated Exhaust Tips With Non-Resonated Exhaust Tips On a 2017 Dodge Charger
  • I don't really have a bunch of technical data to back this up but I am also very familiar with the exhaust system on your 2017 Dodge Charger. That said, the resonated vs non-resonated exhaust tips won't really matter much if at all. If you like the looks of them then I would say just keep them but if not you can add a set of aftermarkets while you are changing out the mufflers and resonators to install bullet mufflers or otherwise known as glass-packs. I will say, the route you are taking...

  • Clamp-On Exhaust Tips For 2016 Dodge Charger RT
  • If you're not wanting to weld the tip on, I recommend getting a clamp on like the MagnaFlow 3" Exhaust Tip # MF35208. It's made of stainless steel, and will clamp onto pipes ranging from 2-1/4 to 2-1/2 inches in diameter. The MagnaFlow you're asking about # MF35212 won't fit because the band clamp will not connect the 2-1/4 inch diameter of your exhaust onto the end of the tip properly. If you're not against welding on a tip then get the MagnaFlow 4" Exhaust Tip # MF35126. It's the same...

  • Will a Resonated Exhaust Tip Make Exhaust Sound Louder on a Truck
  • Using a resonated exhaust tip such as # PM-5104 would make the exhaust sound more crackly, for lack of a better term, than the stock exhaust and it might be a little louder. If you want to keep the exhaust note the same then a tip like # MF35212 would be a better way to go. It fits a 2-3/4 to 3 inch diameter exhaust pipe. If you want a deep and louder sound then you would want a cat-back exhaust system. For that I would need to know the year, make, and model truck you have, bed length,...

  • How To Increase Exhaust Sound on 2014 Mazda 3
  • The size of the exhaust tip has very little if at all to do with sound so the exhaust tips you just purchased are more or less for show. However, if you were to use a resonated exhaust tip such as the Bully Round Resonated Bolt-on Exhaust Tip part # PM-5104 then this would produce a slightly more crackly sound. With that being said, the best way to really change the sound of your exhaust for the better is with a cat-back system, the MagnaFlow Cat-Back Exhaust System part # MF15297 for hatchback...

  • Will a Resonator Exhaust Tip Make My Car Sound Louder
  • Using a resonated exhaust tip such as part # PM-5104 would make the exhaust sound more crackly, for lack of a better term, than the stock exhaust and it might be slightly louder. A resonator exhaust tip causes the air to vibrate a certain way in a hollow cavity which produces a certain sound. If you want to keep the exhaust pitch the same then a tail pipe like part # MF35212 would be a better way to go. The width of the tailpipe will not noticeably change the sound of the exhaust system.

  • How to Resonated Exhaust Tips Affect Sound of Exhaust
  • Resonator exhaust tips will slightly mellow the tone of the exhaust but you'd most likely not notice much of a difference. Since the resonators are straight through they can't really quiet anything down.
