The air portion of the Buyers Products 50 Ton 10-Hole Air Compensated Pintle Hook with Air Chamber and Plunger # 337PH55AC provides cushioning as well as holds the lunette ring into the pintle hook so it does work as a mechanism to hold the trailer in place. It does not hold the upper portion of the pintle down but the cushioned portion has a lip around the ring that holds it in place. view full answer...
From our experience the military trailer you have uses a standard lunette ring so a pintle hook like the Curt # C48005 would work fine. view full answer...

For the Curt Securelatch adjustable ball mounts like part # CU47FR we have replacement balls like the part # CU67FR for a 2 inch ball or the part # CU77FR for the other popular size of 2-5/16 inch. The included ball is a 2 inch ball.
The shank diameter is 1-1/4 inch but we recommend you only use one of the Curt balls for the Securelatch mentioned. view full answer...
The adjustable ball mount you need is the B&W Tow & Stow Pintle Hook # BWTS10055. Based on the pictures you sent in you need a drop right at 7-1/2 inches and this can do a max drop of 8 inches which will work great, and since it's not considerable more drop than you'd need you won't have ground clearance issues. view full answer...
The Buyers Products 3 Position Pintle Hook Mount # 337PM25812 has 9/16" mounting holes for attaching a pintle hook or hitch like the Buyers Products 10 Ton Combination Hitch # 33710057.
The horizontal mounting holes are spaced 3-3/8" on center and the vertical mounting holes are spaced 1-3/4" on center for 3 different mounting positions. I have attached an image as well to identify these measurements. view full answer...
The standard size for Lunette rings is 3 inch like what you have. While I am not totally certain what hook you have it's likely you did buy the correct size. Due to the looser connections of Pintle/Lunette setups some noise is to be expected. Especially if the hook is the style with a hitch ball too as the hook doesn't end up as smooth.
The quietest setups are ones like the part # 63016 which have a smoother hook. view full answer...
If used in the rise position, the # 63058 pintle hook mount would measure 11-1/2 inches from the bottom of the shank to the top of the plate. The tailgate clearance will depend on how far above the top of the plate the pintle would extend.
With the B and W model, part # BWPMHD14004, the distance from the bottom of the shank to the top of the plate would be right at 11-1/4 inches.
You can see these dimensions in the photos I have edited for you. view full answer...
The mounting holes on the Buyers Products 8 Ton Combination Hitch # 33710050 are separated by 1-3/4" vertically (center to center) and 3-3/8" horizontally (center to center). This is a pretty standard pattern for pintle hook mounting plates so it's going to be compatible with most hitch mounts, such as the Buyers Products # 337PM90.
I have attached a couple short video reviews on these products below, along with a link that will take you to our complete selection of pintle hook mounts... view full answer...
The shank portion of the B&W Tow & Stow Pintle Hook/Hitch Ball # BWTS10056 cannot be used as a component of a weight distribution system. B&W designed this adjustable pintle/ball combo hitch to offer the flexibility to tow as both a pintle hook/lunette ring and as a hitch ball, but not to serve as a basis for a weight distribution system. My contact at B&W confirmed.
We do offer a complete range of weight distribution/sway control hitch systems from Blue Ox and other manufacturers. The... view full answer...
Pintle hitches are made to fit certain sized Lunette rings. The rings that we carry are only available in 2-1/2" or 3" diameter sizes. For example, the Curt Pintle Hook for 2" Hitches # C48004 fits lunette ring couplers with a minimum inner diameter of 2-1/2". If you already have a lunette ring measure the inner diameter and make sure the Pintle hitch you choose will fit the ring. As long as it fits and is rated high enough for your trailer's weight it'll work for you.

According to the folks at Curt, when the # CU37FR and # C48007 pintle hooks are designed and cast, they are not designed to withstand the force they'd be subjected to if they were inverted and used as standard ball mount.
You'd be best served by measuring the receiver height and the height of the trailer coupler when it's jacked up so it's level, and finding the height difference. Then choose a ball mount that would provide you with the necessary weight rating, ball size and rise for... view full answer...
The correct hardware to use with the Buyers Products 3 Position Pintle Hook Mount part # 337PM25812 will largely depend on what accessory will be attached to it. I went out to our warehouse to measure the Curt Pintle Hook # C45908 to get the measurements you asked for.
I put it together and used digital calipers to ensure this measurement was as accurate as possible and found that it measured approximately 13.7" from the center of the furthest hitch pin hole to the middle of the ball and 12.7" from the center of the closest hitch pin hole to the center of the ball. view full answer...
I checked with Curt who confirmed you can replace the 2 5/16 inch ball with a 2 inch ball # C48820 as needed with the Curt Pintle Hook with 2-5/16" Ball - 2-1/2" Hitches - 20,000 lbs # C45908.
If you prefer the Convert-A-Ball option like you mentioned, the Pintle Hook Combo with 3 Stainless Steel Balls - Bolt On - 25,000 lbs Item # PH1 is my recommendation. The hitch comes with 3 ball sizes: 1-7/8", 2" and 2-5/16" and has a towing capacity for 2" and 2-5/16" hitch balls between 3,500-10,000... view full answer...
The Curt Pintle Hook with 2-5/16" Hitch Ball - Bolt On - 16,000 lbs # C48200 you were looking at has a ball hole that is 1-1/4" in diameter.
This combo includes a 2-5/16" hitch ball already, so for a 2" hitch ball I recommend the Replacement Hitch Ball for Curt Pintle Hook Combo - 2" Diameter - 10,000 lbs - Chrome # C48820 which was made for this hitch.
