Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side interior trim panel in your rear cargo area.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plug on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Not sure yet, just had it all installed yesterday but it looks good on the Jeep

Great product that made adding a trailer connector very simple.
After popping a few panels to gain access to the onboard connector it's simply a matter of plugging the harness in. Be sure to close the lock once the connector is plugged in. I hung the module above the panel clip. Now route the cable to the spare tire well.
Only extending the connector when needed protects it from the elements and damage. I like this much better than one perm mounted to the outside.

Following your U-tube instructions, This product worked great and was VERY EASY to install ! Most places I checked with wanted to cut wires etc.. E-Trailer showed me where a plug was already installed on my vehicle and how to easily get to that plug. Not only that, But the price was HALF of what I would of paid if I didnt check online with e-trailer as my friends recommended.
This is my first time with E-Trailer and I say Thank You for saving me a bundle of money and time.
The picture might not mean much to you or your viewers but to me, being able to get my boat out and go fishing, means a lot. Thank You E-trailer staff, I HIGHLY recommend anyone looking to install towing equipment on your vehicle, to check with E-trailer first ! You will be glad you did.

Worked great , easy install..

Trailer harness came in 3 days of ordering. Plugged right in and everything worked as it should. Would definately recomend this website to others.

by:
2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I added a trailer hitch to a vehicle which did not come with one as I need to pull a boat and sometimes a wood splitter.

Simply remove the side panels, plug it into the harness, zip tie it in place and replace the panels. I hide the wire in the spare tire well when not in use. Keeping the plug inside the Jeep keeps it clean and prevents corrosion.

Great product. Easy to install and works great.

Completely new trailer wiring install.found the part that I needed with ease and part came in 3 days.it was the right part and I will be a returning customer

Product received wasn't exactly like the video on your website but worked as advertised. The power converter was different shape and had no wiring diagram printed on the side. I found your website to be one of the best I've ever seen to learn about the product and application. The price was surprisingly low given the quality of the harness assembly received and not ridiculously high like the stealership quoted me even though they discontinued the part.

thank you

My son came over and installed the trailer hitch for me. The fit was perfect, the parts kit was perfect, the quality was perfect. The rear bumper cover did not have to be trimmed. Just the perfect solution for my light trailering needs.

Great product. Installation took 10 minutes and it works like a champ. No issues. Very clean installation as it just plugs into the factory harness. No cutting, no taping. Definitely the only way to go.

I have used 2 of these modules on my vehicles that have different circuits for the brake and turn signal lights. The module made the connection to my trailer a snap. I thought the module that mates with the manufactured chassis wiring harness was the greatest thing ever. I did not need to splice into any wires, just follow the included instructions and plug it in. The second unit was a generic module that I installed on a 1987 Toyota and although I did need to splice into the original harness it was easy and just as the instructions explained.
For the cost these modules make a difficult task easy... Well worth it.

The converter/harness worked exactly like it was supposed to. Not surprised, I have never had a bad experience with etrailer. They even included instructions on my specific vehicle. Thank you!

The converterharness is still working great. I recommend etrailer to anyone I hear talking about hitches or trailer wiring. Great products at great prices.

Super simple, plugs right in to Jeep wiring harness. Works perfect. Would have given it 5 stars if the wires had been a foot longer. Had to get creative with the routing but that is to be expected in a DIY project. Hasn’t failed me yet. Absolutely positive ground through vehicle wiring harness. Trailer lights work despite trailer ground wire being disconnected.

Just plug an play. Very straightforward. Mine went on a 04 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. Being an older car be careful with the panel clips just in case there slightly brittle with age.

by:

I thought the product was great! It was a perfect fit for my 04 jeep grand cherokee WJ. I didn't think about loading photos. And the plug is buried behind a panel. I have tried so many applications that failed this one was perfect thank you!

2003 Jeep Cherokee

I was trying to find out which wiring harness to use on my 2003 Jeep Cherokee. Looked on many sites and even bought one at Pep Boys and they said they could install it. After an hour of moving my Cherokee to three different stalls , removing the left tail light assembly etc., they gave up and said they couldn't install it. They refunded my money for the harness and I kept looking. I came across your site, looked at the video of an installation on a Cherokee like mine and ordered the same part. Installation was a breeze and the price of the harness was about half of the one I almost bought at PeP Boys. Great price, great service...Thanks etrailer.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This item was a trailer harness for my neighbor's 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. He had tried to connect a harness himself by splicing into the taillight wiring on each side - to no avail. A brief research led to etrailer.com and the correct fix was soon located. The item arrived in the time frame indicated and the was installed the same day it was received. His harness was connected and working in a matter of minutes after he had spent weeks trying to make the connection himself.

The harness is great!
Just wish Jeep
didn't build the car where the plugin is in a place where you have to dismantle the rear side interior to plug the harness in!
Trailer processed and delivered really fast! Thank you!

The product, a diode based trailer wiring harness, is easy to install, and initially works as intended, however, I am on my third one, the first 2 failing after about 10 months use. In both cases, one of the brake/signal lights went live all the time the trailer was attached to the vehicle, even with the ignition off.

Etrailer has been prompt in providing replacements, but either I have had bad luck or there is a design defect.

by:
Jeep

I was thrilled to find the video at etrailers.com that showed not only that Jeep had a quick connect for the wiring harness, but also, where that quick connect was. I never would have known. And when I opened that panel, voila,,, there it was, just like the video said. This is easily a one person task, and ten minutes tops, so long as you are careful pulling the snaps for the panels.

Thanks etrailer... you saved me much money and grief!

by:
Jeep Grand Cherokee

After fiddling around with my Jeep trying to get the trailer wiring done the hard way, I ordered the pre-wired Jeep Grand Cherokee adapter. It was inexpensive, installed in few minutes and worked perfectly. The on-line videos of an installation were incredibly helpful. The staff at eTrailer followed up to get my opinion. The product shipped and was delivered promptly. All in all a good place to do business.

The top quality trailer wiring harness for my Jeep Grand Cherokee I ordered from etrailer arrived day before yesterday, on time. I can't wait to install it onto my Jeep, along with the Curt trailer hitch I also bought from etrailer that arrived day before yesterday as well! I already had a receiver and ball in my possession. I may be back again soon, because I've been thinking about getting a step to put in the hitch when I'm not towing a trailer. It'd make it easier to reach my roof rack with a step on the hitch when it's not in use with a trailer... Anyway, I'll be back! Thanks, Carol at etrailer!

  • Trailer Lights Not Functioning On a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee
It sounds to me as if you are trying to say that you have power at the trailer connector but not at the trailer lights. If this is the case you most likely have a ground issue. I would start by checking all of the ground connections on the trailer and making sure they have good solid clean connections. Check the wire at the trailer tongue and check the tail lights connection to ground. Usually the tail lights are connected through their mounting hardware so you will need to make sure that...
