Installation
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
Circuit-Protected Tail Light Converter
A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
This converter safeguards itself and your vehicle against possible electrical shorts and overloads with integrated short circuit protection. Just install the connector as indicated and rest assured that the wiring system of your vehicle will remain feedback-free.

Trying to get the passenger side to plug into the tail light harness was a bit of a challenge, until I removed the factory spacer inside the plug. All the lights work fine. I'll give another review after I install the hitch.

I’ve been an etrailer customer for 10 years because of their customer service & easy to use website. Every hitch, wiring harness or accessory I’ve installed on vehicles from 1998 to current has never been an issue. When my sons truck died before his hitch set up was installed their return policy was simple.
I was very happy with my purchase, customer service experience, and the ease of installing the hitch and wiring. The hitch was actually quite easy to install. I was able to install it my myself in about 20 minutes. One end didn’t align with the holes in my frame (could have been off on my truck), but a couple of whacks with a mallet and it lined up perfectly. The wiring took a lot longer than anticipated, but this is mostly due to me wanting everything routed in a way in which it was hidden. An easy afternoon of work to install everything.
Product as described. Four stars instead of five because the wiring harness wouldn’t fit as delivered. Three of the four plugs to the tail lights plugged right in no problems. The fourth wouldn’t fit. There were plastic prongs down in the plug that prevented the plug from seating. After examining it I found an extra plastic insert that was blocking the plug. It came right out with needle nose pliers and then everything worked. I’m guessing this is a quality control issue that etrailer cannot control.
Installed with ease and has worked everything we connect the trailer to it and head out camping. Guys were great to work with.
The product is perfect and amazingly easy to install. I’m not a mechanic by any means but I did this VERY easily. But as good as the product is, the instruction video is simple and easy to understand and that is what made the project perfect in my mind. I’d recommend this solution a million times over.
Had a problem installing but after speaking with customer service I learned it was a vehicle side issue. Etrailer was absolutely correct and their instructions enabled me to solve the problem in 60 seconds. I appreciate that. Otherwise this product was a snap to install and it is working nicely. Installed on a 2008 ridgeline needing a taillight converter between vehicle and 7 blade rv. The passenger side wouldn’t plug in. Turns out when I pulled the vehicle connectors apart a piece from the male side was stuck in the female side. Pulled that out and put it where it belonged and good to go. Who knows how long it might have taken me to figure that out on my own.
I buy Hopkins Plug-in wiring harness with 4-pole connectors. Good product, simple, great instructions. Use for one year, have no problems.
Vitaliy Z - 12/24/2020The tow wiring harness for my '06 Ridgeline arrived as promised. Instructions included in the package were so so, but there were YouTube videos that were perfect. Installation was difficult because I wanted the wires routed in protected locations. The right tail lamp wire almost didn't reach because I couldn't get the large connectors through the most efficient route/holes. It just did make it. I also needed more of the large black cable ties. Overall, I would give the product a B+ and the seller an A. No picture because its all buttoned up, so it looks stock.....

kevina - 07/05/2018I recently acquired an eTrailer Plug & Play Wiring Harness (#118400) to complete the 4-7 Electrical Connection for a Reese Trailer Hitch which had been previously installed on an ‘06 Honda Ridgeline Truck. The P&P Wiring Product was as advertised and the eTrailer Online WEB site greatly facilitated the acquisition process. The Iinstallation Instructions included in the product package were both concise and clear. Additionally, the Supplemental Online Videos further enhanced the visual concept of the proper installation procedure. Note: However, rather than using the extended “clamp-on” bracket to mount the 4-7 Electrical Connection Plug, I altered the standard 90-degree Mounting Bracket to a Closed Angle of 75-degrees which allows the back of the 4-7 Electrical Connection Plug to neatly fit between the round tubular Reese Trailer Hitch and the frame cross member whereby completing the installation without precariously extending the Mounting Bracket or exposing 4-7 Connector and the associated wiring as a low-clearance hazard. I highly recommend this well designed produce.
The wiring and connections were complete and solid, the length of the wiring was adequate, the zip ties for holding the wiring in place were only 6" and needed to be at least 11" for my Draw Tite trailer hitch installation. i had to buy a bag of black 11" zip ties to complete the job and make it look solid, a zip tie can always be cut off if its too long. The directions were clear and straightforward, it was a nice Tekonsha product, i have used a Tekonsha brake and trailer harness before and i am confident i will get many years of use from this installation.
Great product, easy install, was delivered fast! Just what I needed for our first camping trip with the Ridgeline.
This is a fairly well designed product but definitely needs some improvements. The wiring needs to have a protective sleeve/covering installed over it before installation or else the wires are totally exposed to chafing when routed along the body, frame and hitch. I bought protective sleeve material for less than $5 at Home Depot. The other needed improvement is something other than double sided tape to attach the control unit to a bare metal surface. I'm not at all confident the tape will last the life of the vehicle. I used multiple zip ties to ensure when and if the tape fails, the control unit will not be lost. I would recommend this product and the service at etrailer was excellent as usual.
Installed with a Hidden Hitch. The wiring harness took about 20 minutes, which included extra time routing the harness. The video was helpful in how the factory plugs disconnected from the body clips. Could have used a couple of longer zip ties for securing the harness to the hitch in more areas, if it did would be 5 stars.
The installation took me two hours to complete. The video and written instructions were helpful but neither addressed all the unforeseen problems encountered. First of all, the process for disconnecting the wiring plug from the clip on the truck body on the driver's side of the 2007 Honda Ridgeline is different than on the passenger side. On the driver's side of the Ridgeline you have to depress the locking device and pull up to disconnect the plug. On the passenger side you must depress and pull down. I also had difficulty attaching the T-Connector Black Box to truck body. The wiring for the Black Box is so short that I had to lay on the ground and extend my arm up a narrow cavity and attach it the box to the body by feel. I expect that the reviewer who indicated that they installed the wiring harness in 20 minutes had some prior experience installing this wiring harness. A person installing one for the first time will need more than their lunch break to complete the installation. That said, the new wiring harness works great and is a big improvement over the cut and splice routine. I would buy it again.

Spoke with sales rep and recommended this model harness over the other model that etrailer stocks due to its compatibility with LED lights (if needed). Installation instructions could have been a bit better by indicating that the large module should be mounted low on the frame to allow the passenger side wires to reach.
