Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Power Module

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

I have bought trailer hitches from Etrailer several times over the past few years. I don't bother going anywhere else because you just can't beat their customer service, pricing and shipping

by:

Wiring harness and instructions were very easy to understand and install

by:

Shipment arrived promptly with all items. The instructions and videos provided made the install super easy. This is my second purchase using etrailer and their products and highly recommend them for all towing needs. Great quality and priced affordable.

by:
2015 Jeep Patriot

My order was received promptly and complete, as always from etrailer!

Your installation videos are always helpful and accurate.

The one suggestion I have concerning this product is that the battery lead coming out of controller should be longer. The controller is generally installed before the lead is crimped to the battery connection. Once the controller is installed, it is challenging to reach the lead to attach the battery power wire because of very limited working space. Just a thought.

Installed as instructed and tests as desired.

Comments
Installed easily, as outlined in your excellent video.

I have used etrailer numerous times and it is always a great experience. I am a cyclist, and so are several of my family members - and we go to etrailer every time we need to add a hitch to a car for the bike racks. They always have what I need at a great price and I never seem to have the "supply chain" issues that seem to pop up everywhere else. Always quick, always right, and always a great price. What more could you ask for??

by:

Called ETRAILER to order a very nice lady( CAMELLA L) answered, she was very efficient and friendly. The parts were to be delivered in 5 days arrived in 3 days. I watched a video on installation, the parts fit as advertised. THANK YOU CAMELLA for helping me.

by:

Easily installed. Actually my wife and her friend installed the hitch and wiring. I installed the adapter wiring and attached to the hitch. Seems like a great product.

Still working great and on its second winter of use.

by:

It is a good and complete kit.
I installed
it with everything included and did not need to go get additional wiring.
It functioned as expected!
So, thumbs up.

by:

Your YouTube video on the installation of the electrical lighting was right on track. Everything I needed to know and do and what tools I would need was spot on. The job went easier than I expected and the results were just as the video explained. Thanks for some really great materials and how to vids.

by:
2009 Dodge Grand Caravan

Great product at the right price, delivered quickly, and fit my vehicle perfectly.

by:
2009 Jeep Patriot

Great product, the connectors make it easy to set up your trailer lighting configuration. The video is helpful as well. I will say this, though - avoid the part about running the wire all the way to your battery if at all possible. This is totally unnecessary (and a lot more work) if you have a lead wire available inside the rear of your left taillight like I discovered through other sources of information in my install process. Just connected the black wire provided (without the extension cord) to this lead wire behind the taillight and I was good to go. Saved me a lot of hassle trying to string a wire throughout my entire vehicle and into the area under the hood.

by:

It was straight forward and easy to install. It took a total of about 15 or 20 minutes to install this wiring and it worked perfectly.

Comments
It still works just as it did when I installed it
David - 03/08/2022

by:

I remember what was involved in this job before these harnesses. This is a wonderful solution. Very easy to follow instructions make for an easy professional installation. A little patience when running the power wire goes a long way. The factory connections ensure reliable, maintenance free operation. I like the loop on the flat 4 connector that secures to the safety chain loop to secure the connector when not in/not in use. The only shortfall is that there aren't enough zip ties included to properly secure the power wire when routing it to the battery. I would recommend this product if you want a one-and-done trailer lighting solution.

Comments
After using these harnesses on two vehicles for over a year on one, and two years on the other, both in a northern climate Ive experienced no issues what-so-ever. Im very satisfied.

Wow, starting with my order on Tuesday I had excellent customer service, then a short 2 days (really?) later I recieved my Rola cargo carrier and light kit. Your videos make it easy to assemble and install. Prices are cheaper than anywhere on the net. Attached are some pics but it is snowing buckets in South Dakota right now, glad when we get to sunny Orlando, thanks etrailer!!!

2014 Jeep Patriot

Just finished the install of this unit on my 2014 patriot and it couldn’t have been easier. I’ve used other models in the past on another patriot that involved wire splices and poor instructions and installation took forever. Not the case this time. The installation video specific to my vehicle provided on etrailer’s website was dead on and incredibly helpful. Overall great experience both with the product and company.

Just got done installing my hitch and wiring very easy looks great I sent along a picture to show how nice it looks!
Thanks etrailer

This product is amazing! I have a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. Install was a breeze, and the installation videos are tremendously helpful. I’m looking forward to seeing what else I can get.

Everything was in the box.. Wired it up and the trailer lights worked! Recommend purchasing cable shield for battery wire to taillights..works Great!

by:

Easy instillation videos from etrailer were a great help I recommend etrailer for anything trailer related

by:

I have not had a chance to install the hitch yet, however when it arrived, both the box with the hitch and box with the wiring were torn wide open. hopefully nothing is missing.

  • Is The Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118552, Needed On a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan WithTow Package
If your 2010 Dodge Caravan already has a factory 4-Way trailer connector on the rear of your vehicle then the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118552, is not needed, unless you are having problems with the factory connector. If you do not have the factory 4-Way on your vehicle, then you would use the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118552. It will provide the 4-Pole trailer connector that your 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan would need. We have installed many of the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harnesses...

  • Troubleshooting T-1 Connector Part # 118552 on 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan
Having the signal bleed over from the drivers side to the circuit feeding the passenger side usually indicates a ground problem. Try running a jumper from the white ground wire coming off the converter to the negative battery terminal, and see if that solves your problem. If so, try using a different grounding point for the converter. If there is a factory installed grounding point nearby, that would be ideal. If no factory ground is available, try shooting the grounding screw into a pinch...

The Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, part # 118552, is the correct wiring harness for the 2011 Jeep Patriot 4x4. If the functions on the trailer connector of the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, part # 118552, tests good without the trailer hooked up then you will need to check the trailer for possible wiring problems. The most common situation is that there is a bad ground on the trailer. A bad ground on the trailer could cause the situation you are seeing. Check all of the ground connections...

  • How To Determine What Is Causing Wiring Harness Converter To Short Out on 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan
A light bulb going out on the trailer will not cause a converter box to short out, but it is indicating a short on the trailer that could be causing the converter box on your vehicle to short out. If all of the functions at the 4-Way connector on your 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan are working properly, we can turn our attention to the trailer. Start by checking all of the light bulbs on the trailer to be sure they are installed properly and in good working condition. Next, check the ground...

  • Why Does the T-1 Wiring Harness for 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan Have to Draw Power From the Battery
The actual voltage to power the trailer lighting is drawn from the fused 12-volt feed that is ran to the battery. The connections that attach inline behind the tail lights provide the signal that tells the trailer lights when to activate. This has the benefit of isolating the voltage that powers the trailer lights from the wiring system that powers the tail lights on your Grand Caravan. A short circuit on the trailer wiring can blow the fuse on the power circuit at the battery or possibly...

There is nothing special to consider when installing part # 118552. They are essentially the same vehicle with a different body. • Recommendedation for a Trailer WIring Harness for a 2009 Dodge Caravan
I do not have any specific wire color information on that particular vehicle. To locate which wire carries the signal for the tail/running lights, remove the taillight assembly as if you were replacing a burned out bulb. Have a helper turn on the headlights, then probe the wires running to the assembly with a circuit tester such as our part # 40376, until you find the wire that shows current. You have tested the converter on trailer wiring harness # 118552 correctly. Since there is the correct signal going into the converter but not coming out that indicates that the converter is bad and the harness will need to be replaced. • Right Side Trailer Lights Do Not Work After Installing Trailer Wiring Harness on 2009 Grand Caravan
To determine if the converter box is bad on your trailer wiring harness, I recommend testing the wires going into the converter box from the tail lights by probing them with a circuit tester. If you have power for the right turn signal and brake light going into the converter box but no power coming out of the converter box, then the converter box is probably bad and should be replaced. I also recommend inspecting the harness from the converter box to the 4-way trailer connector. Sometimes...

There are several reasons why we do not recommend using a 12V auxiliary power outlet to install a 4-pole wiring harness like # 118552. First, this will void the product's 1-year warranty. Second, and most important, this installation will not provide the same degree of protection for the vehicle's own internal wiring. • Does Power Wire of Trailer Wiring for 2015 Jeep Patriot Have to Run to Battery
Not all vehicles can handle the additional amperage draw of the trailer taillights on the vehicle taillight circuits. Those vehicles need setup that draws power from the battery. Some vehicles have higher rated circuits that can handle this, and others need to have the power drawn straight from the battery to protect the taillight circuits. If you were to run the power wire of the # 118552 to anything but the battery you would void the warranty of the kit and would no longer have the circuit...
