It is a perfect use for a mountain bikes dirt bikes on the back of travel trailers. Be advised that the hitch will sit lower than normal and may have some clearance issues over uneven terrain. It’s a 3 inch lift is used on the axle or an axle flip os performed, There should not be a problem. Also be aware that most travel trailers only have about a 3 inch width on the beam which will not allow the use of all four holes on the side plate mounting holes on the hitch. Using both the two lower side holes and the bottom two holes still should make the hitch plenty secure

We purchased this so we can tow a 16’ boat behind our fifth wheel. It has worked out beautifully. There was an old bumper we had to remove first but we were able to install the hitch ourselves in a single day.

Comments
Still works perfect! We love having the freedom to tow what we want or the added benefit of adding a basket to carry our generator. We haven’t had a single issue with the hitch.

I was very pleased with the ordering process, the very quick delivery date, and the installation process. Although I did have to relocate my stabilizer jacks about 4 inches, this was no real issue. The hitch fit like a glove and I was able to install it myself. It took me a little longer than most others because I'm 68 yrs old and also have Parkinson's Disease. So If I can install it, I figure most anyone can. I've included a picture.

Thanks etrailer for a great experience.

Comments
Its been a year since I installed this hitch. Ive pulled my boat several times with no issues. Great hitch and also - NO RUST.

the Curt 13703 is an excellent, very heavy duty hitch receiver. i installed on the back of my travel trailer to support a bike rack. due to the configuration of my bumper, i had to install the hitch support 16" behind my bumper(towards the front of camper), not an idea location. however with the strength of the Curt receiver i have no concerns it will easily support a bike rack and 2 bikes.

by:

THIS IS POSSIBLY THE ONLY WAY TO PUT A HITCH ON A FIFTH WHEEL. IT FIT LIKE IT WAS MADE FOR IT. I USE IT TO TRAILER MY HARLEY AND IT WORKS GREAT. I AM NOT AFRAID OF IT FALLING OFF DOWN THE ROAD. GREAT HITCH!!!

by:

I am unable to install hitch because mounting bracket is to large and holes do not align with my unit.(Jayco North Point) Will have to cut or drill new holes. Return postage to much to return.

Comments
This universal hitch works on box frames, C-channel frames, or I-beam frames. I am not sure if your RV has a custom frame, but most universal products need adjusting.

Delivery of this item was in 2 days! Outstanding… The Adjustable hitch is very robust and should allow me to carry on my travel trailer 2 heavy ebikes conveniently and most importantly safely…

by:

After figuring out how to mount this hitch on our camper it was evident that it would not bolt up to the existing brackets. We dropped the underbelly and ground off the brackets existing on the trailer and had a welder come in and weld the brackets that came with the hitch on the trailer! We are very pleased with the hitch. We are going to use it for our bike rack and maybe later something heavier!

by:

Awesome hitch for the back of trailer ane easy to install on my fifth wheel. hitch is very heavy so make sure you have room to spare on your gross weight, adds 100 lbs.

by:

Great quality! It wouldn’t have taken so long if we didn’t have to move the jack stabilizers first. I am very impressed with the look and feel of the motorcycle carrier as well as the adjustable hitch. Fit perfectly. Love it. My son is stoked.

by:

Installed on a 22 Voltage 4225. Our frame was slightly wider then what this is specked at, but it worked perfectly. The square tube did not go completely through the mounts due to our frame being wider, but when you’ve got a welder all is good. Used bolts and welded as a precautionary measure.

I paid someone 800 to fab this on previous trailer. This was much better.

by:

Install the hitch I purchased from you I had to raise the bumper inch and half to make it fit and works great thx for a great product no issues what so ever also the bolt fishing tool was awesome thx again.

Comments
Awesome I pull a trailer with a side by side and had no problems at all.

Great add on to my Alpine 5th wheel . Can now haul the bikes using a hitch bike rack instead of hanging them on the ladder. The hitch looks factory installed. Love it.

by:

This product is very sturdy and strong. Shipping had lost the mounting hardware but after calling support they promptly sent a hardware kit out to me. As some cutting my be required it may not be for a not experienced installer but if you have a hacksaw and patience you will be fine. We were fortunate and have a plasma cutter to it was a snap to install. But over all this is a quality product.

by:

Heavy duty, well made using it for bike rack on my Grand design travel trailer

by:

Box was broken open. all the big pieces ok. Nuts and bolts was loose it’s ok can be replaced if missing. Shipping was poor. The main pieces are heavy. Cardboard box to light. For the weight. I’m not upset. The sides and main bar looks great.

Install went smoothly, had to relocate the manual scissor jacks that are used to level the RV. Receiver hitch was heavy duty with quality bolting hardware included.

by:

This product is high quality and solid Well designed and fit frame like a glove. Easy for a do it yourselfer

Comments
It mounted up perfectly and have pulled with it about a dozen times. Works great and complete confidence in the equipment as it is made very heavy duty
Stan - 11/18/2020

by:

very heavy duty, fit great on Coachman Summit 174bh travel trailer. Installed for secure mount with bike rack. Installation required moving black tank drain ( not a big issue, just some standard 3” plumbing fittings) and also mounting on outside of frame versus inside.

by:

Excellent heavy duty hitch. I mounted it on a 2012 Flagstaff Classic 5th wheel and it works great.

by:

Arrived as ordered. Very easy to read instructions. The pieces fit together well. The quality is great. Looks great on my RV. Highly recommended. etrailer.com was an easy to use app and customer service is the best

Item allows me to pull trailer behind camper.i can make one trip to the campground.

Comments
Works great,no problems .we take golf cart camping, now we make only one trip.
Gary Q - 06/17/2020

by:

Overall I am satisfied with the receiver hitch. I faced a few challenges installing the hitch. Mostly to due with the location of the bolt holes and the width of the lock nuts. I had to trim the lock nuts to clear the available space. It was an exercise of trial and error. I use the hitch to tow my 2,300 lbs. 16' Deep-V fishing boat behind my 5th wheel. The receiver has performed perfectly.

by:

I have not received this part of my order, yet.

  • Will Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch 13703 Fit a 2013 Heartland 5th Wheel
Based on the measurements you provided the # 13703 Curt adjustable RV trailer hitch should fit your 2013 Heartland 5th wheel trailer. The section of the side brackets with the four horizontal mounting holes is only 4-7/8 inches tall, so you should not have an issue with clearance inside a 10 inch I-beam. The two vertical attachment holes on the side brackets are only used if there is enough clearance, so it would not be an issue if the lower lip is too shallow for these attachment points....
