Video Transcript for Deka Wiring 16-3B-1 Review

Today we're going to review part number 16-3B-1. This is Deka Bonded 3 Wire sold per foot. This is a parallel primary wire that has the 3 parallel conductors. They're all bonded together using this thermoplastic insulation. Each conductor is independently color coded for easy identification. This is designed for use with 50 volts or less.

Each wire is a 16-gauge size. Again, the price on this part number is per foot of wire. You can order as many feet as you'd like. Basically, you can see it's a near-normal wire color. This is the green which is normally used for your right turn and brake signal; your yellow which is used for your left turn and brake signal; and, your brown which is used for your tail lights. This normally used when you have a separate ground wire run separately. That should do it for the review on part number 16-3B-1.

This is the Deka Bonded 3 Wire sold per foot. .

Replaced the wiring harness, all lights and even added an interior lamp. I found everything I needed in one place. Thanks!
(that's a 1958 Parkhurst trailer)

Great service and assistance from e-trailer. Products arrived when expected. Just what I needed to make my 18-foot utility trailer legal again with working stop, tail and turn signal lights.

This is the only place I could find bulk wire to rewire the lights on my 25ft gooseneck flatbed trailer. It worked great!

It's been a long while since I've ordered anything from etrailer, but, as usual, you folks came through in flying colors. The package was boxed well, shipped on time and the correct products, that's a real plus in today's internet shopping zone.

Color code matched it easy

I bought this wire to run backup lights to the rear of my 42' 5th wheel. Easy to work with and very reasonable priced.

Good grade of wire just like you would get if you bought a wiring plug kit.

  • Do I Need To Ground the Trailer Junction Box If Running a Ground Wire For Each Light To This
If you will be running a ground jumper wire for each light on the trailer up to the junction box then you would need to also ground this bundle of wires from the junction box to the main trailer ground which is usually on or near the coupler. The ground for the tow vehicle's trailer connector would not support all of the trailer lights and trailer side connector. I don't have any diagrams of this setup unfortunately. In order to redo your wring I recommend using the Trailer Wiring 7-Way...

  • Adding a Deka Jacketed 7-Wire to a Trailer
The jacket on Deka Wire - Jacketed 7-Wire # DW04914-1 is going to provide an extra layer of protection for the trailer wiring. You might consider moving the junction box as far back on the trailer as possible. This way the bulk of your wiring will be jacketed and protected. Personally, I'd install the junction box toward the front of the trailer, running the Hopkins molded trailer connector right into it. From the junction box, run the 3-wire bonded wire # 16-3B-1 for the lighting circuits...

  • Options for 16 Gauge Wire to Power a 12 Volt Spot Sprayer in Bed of 2012 Ford F-150
We carry different types of 16 gauge wire. We have bonded 4-Wire, # 16-4B-1, jacketed 4 wire, # DW03240-1, bonded 3-Wire, # 16-3B-1, and single wire # 16-1-1. Each of these are available in increments of 1 foot. So if you needed 8 feet you would enter 8 in the quantity box for an 8 foot length of wire. I would over estimate it because it is better to have too much wire than not enough. You also might be interested in some heat shrink tubing # DW05744-10 to keep the splices water tight.

  • Amperage Draw of Optronics Sealed Mini LED Side Marker Lamp # MCL13A2B
The Optronics # MCL13A2B Sealed Mini LED Side Marker lamp draws 0.046 amps at 12.8 volts. I'd recommend using 16-18 gauge wire for your trailer lighting circuits. If you're rewiring your trailer, we carry a bonded 3-wire, part # 16-3B-1 which is sold by the foot. I'll link you to our help article about trailer wiring, which I hope you'll find helpful.

  • Installing Trailer Connector and Junction Box on 20ft Gooseneck Trailer
If you click on the link I've provided, you can see our Trailer Wiring FAQ article, which will show you exactly how the connector on your gooseneck trailer should be wired. I took the liberty of looking in on your order, and saw that you're using a # HM20048 wiring connector and a junction box, which is exactly what I'd recommend. I've provided a wire color code chart for the # HM20048 connector. I've also linked you to an install video for the junction box, which will show you exactly...

  • Wire a Trailer for Electric Drum Brakes
The normal color wire for electric trailer brakes is blue. It sounds like you are using regular tail light wiring, which would not be sufficient size for trailer brakes. Yellow/brown and green/brown to me sounds like parts of a wishbone harness. A wishbone harness has 2 running light wires instead of one so you don't have to run a jumper wire from one side of the trailer to the other. An example of this type of harness is # A35W42B. The yellow wire would be for left turn signal/brake...

  • Recommendation For Brake Controller on 1968 Chevrolet C50 Truck
Our best selling brake controller will be the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part # 90885. It is a proportional brake controller which means that the brakes are applied to the trailer at the same time and same strength as the brakes on your vehicle. I am including links to the installation instructions on the Prodigy P2 brake controller. You will need to hard-wire a 7-Way connector on your 1968 Chevrolet C50 truck to install the Prodigy brake controller. If you have a 4-Way connector...

  • Parts Needed to Rewire Vintage Trailer
The most effective way to wire your trailer would be to use a 7-way pigtail running into a junction box. For the pigtail, I'd recommend the etrailer # e99011. Keep in mind, there's a couple of accepted wire color coding conventions, and the color coding on this pigtail might not match what's existing, so be sure to look at the product description video I've linked for the color codes. The box includes the ring terminals, but not the mounting hardware. This provides a tidy way to make all...

  • Replacing Lights and Trailer Connector on Boat Trailer Over 80 Inches Wide
Although there isn't a specific kit available that addresses all your needs, you can use a light kit designed for an over 80 inch trailer like # TLL36RK and modify it so it will work. You'd need some extra wire, # 16-3B-1, an ID light bar for the middle of the rear beam that would tie into the running light circuit, part # MCL70RB, a molded trailer connector, part # H20046 and a junction box, part # 38656. The install would be pretty straightforward. The molded connector would run to the...

  • Availability of Replacement Trailer Wiring for Car Hauler
We don't offer a once piece harness, but I can recommend what you'd need to wire your trailer. I'd recommend using a 7-way connector, like # H20046. Keep in mind that the connector uses a different wire color code than usual. You'll find the color code on the product page I've linked for you. I'd then recommend you terminate the wiring from the connector in a junction box like part # 38656. Using a junction box makes for a neat and weatherproof installation. For your 2002 WW 3 horse trailer, I recommend the etrailer 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box # e99011 along with ring terminals like # 44-5310A for easy connection. For your light wiring, I recommend using the 16-Gauge Bonded 3 Wire - per foot # 16-3B-1 on each side for your ground, running light, and turn/stop functions. For your trailer brakes I recommend the # 10-2-1. You will want butt connectors like # 05731-5 and # 05732-2. For your breakaway system, I recommend the...

Led light # BUL72CB is not certified as use as a backup light. For an LED light that is designed for use as a backup use # BUL10CB. You will also need grommet # a70gb and wiring pigtail # A49PB. For wire you can use # 16-3B-1 sold in 1 foot increments. You will need to wire in the power wire to the reverse light circuit on the 7-Way. For the lights to work you have to have a functioning reverse light circuit on the vehicle side 7-Way.

  • Changing Idler Hubs on Small 5x8 Trailer to Electric Brakes
With a smaller trailer like you describe, electric brakes would be my recommendation both from a cost standpoint as well as the ease of installation. For the trailer, you would need two hub/drum assemblies and two brake assemblies. To determine if the hub/drum assemblies we offer are compatible with your trailer spindles, you will need to pull one of your idler hubs off, and look at the inner and outer bearing numbers. The hubs we offer, part # AKHD-545-35-K use # L68149 inner bearings...
