I use use a Curt Hitch "Flat Carrier" https://www.etrailer.com/Hitch-Cargo-Carrier/Curt/C18110.html for loads on my 2005 Prius. Bought the recommended support strap and liked the way it took the up-down bounce stress off the hitch, but the carrier still wobbled left to right, rotating slightly within the hitch receiver. Bought a second strap and the two stabilized the load very nicely. I needed a light cord between the two straps at the top of the hatch door to encourage them not to slide off the corners of the door.

Comments
I am quite pleased with our flat carrier. We keep the loads low enough & centered enough to not block the brake lights and the license plate. Weve used it to carry bikes as well.

Well, my bike kept slipping out of the strap and almost fell off the rack! So much so I no longer use the rack. I now have a different kind of rack that the bike wheels sit on racks. It is made by KUAT. Thank you for this follow up.

I'm giving this a 5 star review primarily because of how awesome etrailer is! The strap is a great addition to the hitch rack I bought from etrailer a couple of months ago. It's that added reassurance that my bike rack isn't going to bounce my bikes off. The 2 transactions I've had with etrailer (the rack and this strap) were nothing less than perfect. They have what they say they have, they ship it quickly and solidly packaged and they always follow up. The website is informative. Kudos to them!

To think that for years I put up with my trailer hitch mounted bike rack noisily bouncing around behind my car. This one little strap (actually two, but they snap together) solved that problem in minutes, and gave me a lot more peace of mind when I have three bikes mounted. Nice little design.

I went to etrailer on the manufacturer's recommendation. The purchase was simple and delivery was prompt. Cool.

This is the best product I never knew I needed. When traveling in my car with bikes on the hitch rack, I used to worry that something would come undone or that the rack would break every time I went over a pothole or otherwise unsmooth patch of road that bounced the bikes on the rack up and down. AT THE VERY LEAST, using this device instills a confidence in me that just wasn’t there before. It obviously adds stability that was not there before and is easy to use. Now I drive with bikes and no worries.

Does the job well of supporting the heavy bike rack by anchoring to the trunk. The teeth don't slip but I do with there was permanent padding under the metal hook to prevent damage to the metal and paint. A rubber strip that comes with it can get easily lost but does the trick.

by:

When I got home from work the box was on my porch.. I know I bought parts and not the box, but the box did not fair the trip well. It was busted open on both ends. I was really worried all the smaller parts I bought had fallen out. However they were all there. I would suggest using a thicker wall box to ship the hitch or at least send smaller parts in a separate box to ensure they do get lost

I have had all of the items for a few months now. This was my first purchase from etrailer, but not my last for certain. The bike rack is the best! Pricey, but well worth it. The only rack I found that fits both 2" and 1.25" receivers. The site recommended the stabilizer strap. Great suggestion! [online store] offered similar products, but after researching they were not the same quality. I'm a fan of etrailer.

We were very impressed with the quality of the Curt Trailer hitch we purchased, its price and how quickly it arrived. We had the hitch installed by a very good local mechanic for a fraction of the cost quoted by our Honda dealer. The hitch support strap that was recommended works perfectly with this hitch. We highly recommend this hitch to anyone.

etrailer sure has made a fan out of me! The customer service has been fantastic - very friendly and helpful. The Curt receiver hitch I've installed on my Honda Fit is clearly top-notch hardware, and the instructional video made installation a snap. Many thanks!

I really like the stabilizing strap. The less the rack moves the better and this makes a difference. It did not damage the vehicle where it attached to the top of the hatch. Great product

This strap does exactly what the ad states! At first I thought it would be just another add on part, but the first time I used it, it proved it’s worth. The bike rack I had mounted to the back of the car did not sway back and fourth as it had before using this strap. In fact the bikes moved very little. This strap is very easy to install and does not get in the way of any of the accessories!

Comments
Taken numerous long trips and this strap still exceeds my expectations! The bikes and the bike rack move very little and only takes a few seconds to install.

Box to hitch 1 minute. 2 ebikes and ready to roll 10 minutes. A whole new world has opened up. This is absolutely the easiest, most versatile rack ever. At 65, my days of putting a light bike on a roof rack are over. This will handle almost anything. The service and attention to detail was amazing. The eTrailer team seems like friends at the local bike shop. BUY IT HERE! Gotta go, mountains to ride.

Install was very easy, instructions were clear. Be sure to use WD-40 to loosen up the muffler attachments. That one step alone made this job easier than I expected. This hitch is used to attach a goal post, so I can carry my kayaks on top. Great customer service, the best.

My rating is for etrailer. I so like this product which is being used for my bike rack. I was disappointed that the lock broke when I dropped it after one use. HOWEVER, I am Very Impressed with the way etrailer responded to my dilemma and replaced it as soon as processing was accomplished. The kind interaction on the phone and emails with Amy was a pleasant surprise in these difficult times. She took the time and patience to listen to me and then follow through with her promise to help.

  • Difference Between Curt & Draw-Tite Trailer Hitches For 2020 Kia Soul For Bike Rack
There are a couple of differences between the Curt and Draw-Tite Sportframe trailer hitches that fit your 2020 Kia Soul. The biggest differences are that the Draw-Tite # 24985 requires minor fascia trimming while the Curt # C67FR does not, and that the Draw-Tite Sport does NOT require stabilizing straps with the use of a bike rack, while the Curt does require you to use the Curt Cam Buckle Stabilizing Strap for Hitch-Mounted Accessories # 18050. What that said, because the fascia trimming...

  • Is Stabilizing Strap Needed For Curt Hitch C13206 or Will Clamp be Okay
Thanks so much for your purchase, and I can tell you that the Curt Cam Buckle Stabilizing Strap # 18050 is not a requirement for use with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13206. While Curt does recommend the use of the strap, it is not needed in order to maintain the warranty. A clamp is an excellent idea for stability, so definitely continue to use a clamp like the etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Stabilizer # e99007 or Curt Anti-Rattle Hitch Clamp # C27UR.

  • How Does Tongue Weight Work With 4 Bikes on a Class III Hitch?
It sounds like you have a total load of 325 lbs which is within the hitch capacity of a hitch like # e98855 on your 2020 Honda Odyssey. Tongue weight is the relevant capacity when it comes to bike racks because they put a vertical load on the hitch. When you add things further and further away from your hitch, then leverage becomes a factor. In your case, with a class 3 hitch like # e98855 and a bike rack like # HR1400Z, you're fine. A good bike rack is designed to not just support...

To use the Curt Trailer Hitch Support Strap # 18050 on your Toyota Prius that has a rear spoiler, I recommend simply running the strap to the lower edge of the hatch door. As you referenced in your question, this will still provide the required support for your bike rack and trailer hitch. You will then just lower the attachment point of the strap on the bike rack to the upright mast. I have also attached a video demonstration of this strap for you to check out.
