Works great, I bought this thinking it would attach to the hitch I purchased but the hitch didn't have a spot to screw this into. I made it work by slipping straps through it and tightening around hitch. Worked perfectly

Comments
You can also use the mounting brackets that strap to the hitch along with this bracket. They are part # 18140
No-Drill Mount for Electrical Mounting Bracket - Short
$16.05
that is shorter and part # C57202
Curt No-Drill Bracket for 6-Way or 7-Way Round Trailer Connector Mounting Bracket - Long

which is longer.

The mounting bracket 4-pole flat gets the job done. It's a little smaller than what I had pictured in my mind, but that's probably a good thing. It can be a little tough getting the harness plug set into position, but once in place I think it will do a good job of keeping it there. It makes for a nice clean look for your wiring harness. Definitely worth the cost!

by:

Works perfect, no more wires hanging down and possibly getting damaged by the pavement. Easy install and tight fitting. Didn't require additional hardware of any kind.

by:

item was exactly as described. Will allow me to properly mount and protect my trailer light connection. Came with everything needed to mount to tow bar (many brackets do not, be careful ordering elsewhere)

Comments
After a year, the bracket is still keeping my connector firmly in place and my wires up and out of the way. Was easy to install and well worth the price.

by:

It works not isn’t great. The plug isn’t very secure when pushed into the opening and I had issues with the self taping screws breaking. Maybe rhat was my fault? Got it installed though and suits my purpose.

by:

Easy installation

by:

I purchased this product along with a trailer hitch receiver and wiring harness for my car everything came in one package before they were expected as usual with etrailer whom i have recommended to people I know, I had everything installed and I am very happy with everything, and will purchase from etrailer.com again and have referred them to my friends

by:

The bracket assembly was packaged inside a larger box containing the trailer hitch that I ordered. The hitch box was damaged and the bracket was missing on the original delivery. I called etrailer customer service and they sent replacements immediately. I would strongly suggest packing the smaller items in a separate box to eliminate this issue. The bracket met all expectations and was thicker then expected. Customer Service, Ordering, delivery, and communication were outstanding from etrailer.

by:

I installed this on my 2018 Wrangler and it was perfect. Very simple install. Videos were very helpful. Took about 3 hours by myself. It may have taken a little longer because I ran the battery wire inside the frame for protection. Seems to be very good quality and I would recommend this harness to anyone needing to add a trailer light plug to their vehicle. Thanks etrailer.

by:

I have used this mount bracket #18144 on three different vehicles.Wouldn’t do a plug in without it so many ways to mount It. Great product. 2016 Ford Explorer

by:

The install video said it would fit behind the cover of my 2021 Jeep GCL . But if you put the 4 point connector in the mount bracket. The hitch cover won’t close or fit properly. The option is to no put the 4 pin connector in the bracket. Then what’s the purpose?

Comments
This may stick out too far on the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee factory hitch to use the cover. Most customers just store the wiring in the cargo area, pull it out and close the hatch on it when in use. As long as your weather stripping is in good shape it wont damage the wiring.
-- Etrailer Expert Heather A - 02/24/2022

by:

This product fit the Draw-Tite hitch perfectly and holds the wiring harness tightly. Just right for the job. Thanks.

by:

Purchased with a Draw-Tite hitch that has the bracket welded to the cross member. No sweat to install onto hitch.

Remember to mount the bracket to the hitch before installing hitch. Also, the vertical tab with the slot must face the rear of the truck to accept the plug from the wiring harness.

Comments
Product has worked fine this this past year.

This will be a great harness mount bracket. My hitch is constructed of round tubing. I haven't mounted this bracket at this time.

by:

Super easy to install. Super easy. They have a insulation video on the webpage that shows step-by-step how to do it. I didn’t even need to lift my car off the ground to put it on. Just tested it out this weekend on a camp out where I attached a cargo carrier and bike rack in one. It put a lot of torque on the hitch especially when you hit dips on the freeway going 70. The hitch didn’t budge. Now I just need to get heavy duty shocks.

by:

All is good. I would like to buy an affordable electric bike bike rack.

Comments
Glad to hear this part is working well for you. As far as electric bike racks go, part # S64678
Swagman Current Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount
$475.00
may be a good place to start. It is rated to be used on the back of motor homes as well. It can hold two sixty pound e bikes with tires up to five inches wide. This rack works on one and one quarter inch to two inch hitches. At this time it is the most economical option, but sometimes prices can fluctuate so just be aware of that.

This is a great place to order from. You can actually talk to a person.
I ordered a hitch for my 2007 Ford escape. It fit perfectly took about an hour to install including wiring harness.
Thanks

by:

Attached to vehicle's trailer hitch assembly where previous bracket was located. Worked well and the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector fit securely. The Connector's attached cover even worked - it comes around the side and fits securely over the 4-pole flat connector terminal end.

In the year since I purchased and installed this item I have had absolutely no issues with it. It has continued to perform as designed and as expected.

It has been a year since I installed the receiver and wiring harness on my 2015 GMC Acadia. I am very pleased. They have gotten used a lot. I do lawn care and use it to pull my trailer. I drove my trailer with my Harley Davidson on it all the way to Tennessee. I would recommend the little wiring harness support bracket that I purchased on every order. It is great and makes the 4 flat plug look tidy bu not dangling down or being tied up. No issues at all. Thank you E-Trailer for inquiring about it after it has been installed for a year.

by:

I am very pleased with the customer service that I received from Montrell. He went over my order with me. We talked about what I was using the for. All supplies came to me in a timely manner. I watched the installation video. It made installation very easy. Thanks again for great service.

Adding a trailer hitch and wiring to 2015 Lexus. etrailer had everything I needed to get this done. I put on the hitch and the bracket for the four pole connector to the trailer. After looking at the the wiring instructions for the Lexus, I decided to hire that out. Prices were really good and the quality is rock solid.

by:

I don't know why hitch manufacturers don't all just get it and add this bracket, it would make life so much easier! Thanks to this little gem my wife's car doesn't have a dangling hitch connector.

by:

Order arrived timely and was packaged well. Price point was reasonable for the items. All parts and fasteners were included and of good quality. Instructions were included that made the installation simple. I also found a [online] video that showed the installation on my exact vehicle (Jeep Grand Cherokee) which made the installation a perfect match. Parts installed exactly as shown in the [online] video.

by:

It fits the tab that's welded on to the hitch I ordered so that is a good thing. It looks to be well made and comes with the attaching hardware.

  • How Does the 4-Way Mounting Bracket Keep the Connector from Falling Out
The 4-Way connector just press fits into the bracket and keeps the connector secure. There are small ribs on the connector that help hold it in the bracket. The cap also goes around the connector to help secure the 4-way just in case it gets knocked out of the bracket.

  • Mounting Location Recommendation for a Mounting Bracket # 18144 on a Honda Pilot
We do not recommend you drill into the hitch to install the Mounting Bracket 4-Pole Flat # 18144. Typically you will install this bracket onto the bumper or rear fascia. Like you said, drilling into the hitch could potentially affect the structural integrity of the hitch. If you wanted to drill a pilot hole to use a starter hole to install the # 18144 you certainly could.

If your wiring harness was manufactured by a different company, please send me an email with that information and I will be happy to see if we have a bracket that will work for you.

For the Mounting Bracket 4-Pole Flat # 18144 the silver self-tapping screws are 0.15 inches in diameter at the threads. Since they are self-tapping a hole is not required but if you wanted to first drill a pilot hole I would go with a 1/16 inch. The black screws are 3/16 and the nuts that go with them are the same. The holes in the bracket have a diameter of 0.2 inches. All measurements were taken using digital calipers.
