Today we're going to be taking a look at part number 19261. This is the Tow Ready Hitch Ball with a 1-7/8" ball diameter. It's going to have a long shank. The gross towing weight on this ball is going to be 2,000 pounds. Again, the ball diameter is 1-7/8". The shank diameter, which is this portion here, is going to measure 1". That measurement is important to keep in mind when choosing a ball mount.
You want to make sure that the ball hole diameter on the mount matches the shank diameter of the hitch ball. If we take a measurement of the shank link, measuring from the bottom of the ball platform to the end of the threaded portion, that's going to give us a measurement of 3-3/16". Again, this is going to offer a capacity of 2,000 pounds. It's designed to fit draw bar thicknesses from 1" to 2" thick. It's going to feature the wrench flats here on the side. That's going to help you easily get everything tightened and torqued to specifications listed by the manufacturer.
When you get this hitch ball, you're going to get a nice instructional tag that's installed on the shank. You want to be sure to remove that. That's going to have instructions on it. It's also going to have the proper torque rating that you'll need. The hitch ball itself is made from a steel construction. It's going to feature a nice chrome plating, so it's designed to resist rust and corrosion.
You're also going to get the lock, washer, and the nut. Once you have this installed on your ball mount, you place the shank through the ball hole. Then under the platform of the ball mount is going to go the lock washer, followed by the nut. You can go and get everything hand tight. Then you'll need to get it torqued to specifications.
Again, that's going to be listed on that instructional tag that comes with the hitch ball. That's going to do it for our review of part number 19261. This is the Tow Ready Hitch Ball with a 1-7/8" ball diameter. .

Lock washer and nut included.Just what I needed. For some reason The '98 Rams have an extra thick tow deck on the bumper. I have a tow package under the bumper but it is too low for the watercraft trailer I want to pull. I searched everywhere and found etrailer and Amazon had a listing for an 1-7/8 ball with a one inch shank at three inches long. Thanks to DrawTite. Any way Amazon cost almost twice as much "bottom line total" as etrailer. Can't beat that. Of course what can you say about ball hitches...its new and shiney! It works!

I recently purchased a 2015 F150 with a factory bumper. It had never had a ball installed on it and I went and bought one locally. To my surprise, the shank on the ball was way too short to fit the bumper. It was only 2-1/8" long which just barely came to the bottom of the bumper. I checked and in my small town, there were no long shank hitch balls to be had. I went online and located etrailer.com and found what I needed. A chrome ball with a long shank. This ball has a long shank for some bumper mounting points. It is threaded far enough to work on a standard ball mount.
