Video Transcript for Rubber Hitch Cover Review

Speaker 1: Today you're going to be getting a look at the rubber hitch cover from It's available for two inch hitches, part number 22282. It's also available for inch and a quarter hitches, part number 22281.If you've got several hundred dollars invested in a trailer hitch, you may want to consider spending a few more dollars to protect it. An empty receiver tube could invite water, road grime, or other environmental hazards into the opening creating rust and corrosion. This can even spread to your bull mount. The hitch cover serves a dual purpose, preventing rust and corrosion while adding to the overall appearance of a hitch. The hitch cover is black in appearance so it's going to blend in with your hitch.

Compared to other hitch covers, it doesn't require a pin and clip. It simply just pressure fits in place. The wide rubber face is also going to protect the collar of your hitch. Because the whole thing is rubber, it's going to be more durable than plastic hitch covers. Now you've had a look at the rubber hitch cover from

Black rubber hitch cover protects your hitch receiver from dirt and debris when not in use. No pins or clips needed.

The quality of the trailer hitch is well constructed. Installed on a 2021 Toyota Hybrid Limited Highlander. Installation videos are great, didn’t take long to install. As other reviews have stated the lower panel requires very little modification to reinstall. Installation brochure shows to much plastic to cut, not necessary. The only disappointing/complaint I have is the foot sensor for the lift gate no longer functions, as I assume the hitch is blocking the sensor. Overall great product.

Perfect fit. This will keep the gunk and junk out of the receiver. This gives it a clean look.

I’ve had this product for a year and it’s done it’s job extremely well. It’s kept it’s shape and is not dry-rotting.

Everything worked as advertised on my 2014 CX-5. The installation video was key, very helpful!

Everything was great, the online instructional videos were easy to follow. This is not only a 5 star item, but a 5 star company as well. Shipping was fast only took about 4days to get here. I will only buy my parts from etrailer for now on.

Installation time was very reasonable, just a bit longer than an hour, with two people. It was a simple installation, and based on the recommendation of another reviewer, I used a little of the Loctite blue threadlocker. The vehicle's bumper mount studs do extend a wee bit past the nuts after tightening down, so that was good. I plan to use the tow receiver for a bike rack and my ham radio antenna mast mount. Glad the instructions included the torque specifications included, and an etrailer video on YouTube was also extremely helpful in getting all the required tools ready. I feel pretty good about this installation. We have a 2018 Bolt and needed to cut a "T" shaped cutout on the fascia, basically a 5"x3" wide, then 3" x 5" long. The cut was centered and fits nicely. We noticed on the first cut that was undersized that it prevented popping the fascia back into place nicely, so a careful accurate cut to fit is important.

Not difficult to install in driveway with ramps. Looks good on 22 Palisade.

One year later I'm extremely pleased with this purchase. I often chuckle when I see stock hitches and the whole thing is visible while mine is neatly tucked under with everything hidden except for the 2" receiver. 10/10 have recommended etrailer on many occasions to friends and family for their service and know-how. Since installing my hitch I towed a pop up camper 1500+kms and do frequent trips to the dump or my local dirt and gravel yard for supplies. Love it!

This is my second hitch purchase from e-Trailer. The hitch fits our 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid perfectly. I did the installation alone and had to use various means (blocks, tubs, straps) to hold it in place. Other folks recommended a second pair of hands. Probably a good suggestion. The hitch will allow us to add our bike rack and haul our bikes conveniently and safely.

I Would like to see the big hitch receiver boxes equipped with a secured "parts" box to contain smaller items like this one and the wiring harness. At the very least, I'd recommend taping this item, in its plastic bag, to the inside of the box, so it does not fall through the big gash(es) that appear in the hitch receiver box during shipping.

Trailer hitch arrived quickly. Fit is exact for an Audi Q5 Plug in hybrid. Did not have to trim fascia as suggested. Looks totally factory.
Im a handy home garage mechanic with lots of tools. The job is doable with care and patience. Need a deep 10 mm socket with a 1 inch extension to take out the nuts behind the battery. Read the other reviews go tips like using tape to secure the nuts to the socket etc.

Did not wire for a trailer as I’m using this for a bike rack.

The Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" fit and looks as expected. However, the shipping box and packing needs a huge improvement. Arrived with holes and scratches down to bare metal in more than 5 places.

Great heavy hitch that fits ever so neatly under the Kia Niro. The spot-on precision of the design and manufacture is great.

Thanks to the informative video, the hitch is relatively straightforward to install if you have a helper and move the Kia off the ground a few inches by means of car ramps. I've done it on two Niro's and it is well within the capabilities of a handy DIYer.

As to function - the hitch is built to last. It works perfectly well with my Allen bicycle rack (carries up to 4 bicycles) and with an inexpensive cargo platform I got from Harbor Freight. By carrying stuff behind the Niro, instead on on a roof rack or in a roof pouch, you maintain good aerodynamics on the Kia and thus avoid a big hit on fuel efficiency (nearly 8 mpg I figure) when traveling a distance at highway speed. So in a certain number of trip miles the hitch will have paid for itself.

My new hitch cover is heavy duty rubber that should stand up well to road salt and other abuse. The fit is excellent. It gives my hitch a finished look.

Other than my awkwardness trying to install the hitch by myself I was happy with the install. The holes lined up perfectly. The bolts were exactly right. Would have been a lot easier with a second set of hands. Next time w need a hitch will definitely order it from your company.

Good fit for my Draw-Tite 2" trailer hitch - clean look when not using my bike rack or towing. Happy with my purchase.

This is the second time I have ordered a hitch from e trailer and I have been very happy with my purchases. Their customer service is very helpful, there was an issue with my first purchase and it was taken care of right away. I would recommend e trailer to everyone!

Works great! The only thing better is the hitch I bought. Both products are doing great.

For 2 weeks it was great. Lost it.

Perfect fit for the 2022 Honda CRV. Installation was straight forward with the included instructions and watching the installation video also helped. Overall, it took about an hour and a half to install.

I have purchased several hitches from etrailer over the last 12 years. They always had exactly what I wanted at a great price. Delivery was always fast and if I had any questions, they responded quickly. They are an excellent company.

Can't really think of any reason not to give 5 stars. Their website is easy to work around to get to the correct hitch that's needed. The website has plenty of installation tips and videos to make installation really easy. It was supposed to be delivered on a Monday and it was delivered the Thursday before. Quick turn-a-round.

It took me about 45 minutes to install the hitch by myself. Using floor jack makes installation a breeze.

Well-designed product and great delivery service. Hitch and hitch cover came undamaged within timeframe promised. Watched the installation video in advance and everything went exactly as shown in the video. Couldn't be happier. Went so well that I hope to be ordering another hitch from you in the next few days.

It cost me $xx at the local garage to have them install it. Fantastic. Very easy!

High quality products with exceptional customer care. My hitch was delivered in a box that was wet and broken due to shipping problems. The hitch arrived fine but one part was missing (no doubt fell out of the broken box that was damaged). Customer care immediately re-shipped the missing part.
I am totally happy with the quality and customer service from

Just fine. It still looks good and works fine.
Carson - 03/15/2022

It's a rubber cover, that should just be included in the order with the hitch and have the price reflect this. Not a separate order and price.

Fits well and serves its purpose of protecting the receiver. Only wish it was generic instead of the advertising logo on the front.

  • Adding Hydraulic Drum Brakes to a Tandem Axle Boat Trailer with Brakes on Just 1 Axle
You won't necessarily have to replace the one axle. Check it to see if it has brake mounting flanges on it that the brake assemblies bolt to (use the other axle on your trailer as an example). If it does have brake mounting flanges then you can leave that axle in place. If it doesn't then you can have flanges welded on depending on the type and size axle it is. But welding on brake mounting flanges requires a special jig and someone with experience to install them correctly. So in that...

  • What Typically Causes Trailer Sway with Bumper Pull Trailer
The issue you are experiencing typically is due to not enough tongue weight. But if the numbers you listed are correct then you'd have the perfect amount to prevent sway. Have you checked out the trailer suspension? Other typical cause for persistent sway is worn out suspension that allows too much lateral movement. No sway control setup will stop persistent sway that starts at 55 mph. That's something not correct in the tow setup that needs to be addressed.
