Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

There were a few hiccups during installation. We decided to keep the fascia, and therefore had to trim the edges of it, the instructions say to remove it, that was a personal decision to keep it. As described, the heat shield was required to be trimmed as well, and the hole to thread the initial screws on the sides were too small, requiring us to use a dremmel to widen the hole. After that, everything was straight forward and fairly easy. My main intention is to use this with a bike rack. It solved the problem of only having a rear tow hook. It helped to use bungee cords to hold up the mufflers so there wasn't as much stress on the front.

Comments
Its great. I love the fact that I can carry my bike without worrying about the trunk of my car being ruined from a tie on type rack. The hitch is also discreet, but sticks out enough to allow clearance without concern for anything smacking you car. Just remember to turn off back up sensors while you have anything attached!

This worked well for my 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid. I did have to make slight modifications to the underside of the car because the hybrid model has extra plastic panels under the trunk area for aerodynamics. The actual instal of this hitch receiver was straightforward and I expect it to be solid and hold the weight it is specified for.

Very sleek works perfectly! Simple to install as long as you follow the instructions. The only thing that could be changed is a better illustration on how to cut out the underbody cover.

Multiple times I had to retighten the main bolts and buy some loctite to stop them from loosening up. The U bolt that attaches to the tow hook broke 3 times with the small gauge u bolt provided and two from tractor supply. I finally found a larger gauge at tractor supply and used locknuts to keep it on. No problems since then! I used this trailer pulling landscaping equipment all spring, summer, and fall. Well over 30,000 miles and it only had those few issues. I highly recommend that the manufacture use locknuts and a higher gauge u bolt.

Hitch is working great! I use it mainly for bike rack, cargo tray, and other light-duty accessories. Installation was as expected with no issues. I'm giving the hitch 4 stars because it sticks out beyond the bumper a little more than I was hoping, but so far no shin whacks. etrailer.com gets 5 stars for service and delivery. Everything was great.

From purchase to delivery was headache free. When installing, I developed a slight headache because I am not mechanically inclined but everything, from start to finish, took me about three hours, that includes running the wiring harness for the trailer lights. I am happy with my purchase and since I did the installation myself, I am happy with it as well

Received product in 5 business days. I am located on the West Coast and paid extra for 3-5 day shipping. Had my father and son install on my 2016 Honda Accord Touring Sedan. Took them 2 1/2hrs. May be quicker for others since it was a learning experience for my son. Had to do small modification to the carriage bolt plates to allow them to fit through the hole in the frame. Small amount of grinding. I am using this with a Yakima bike rack. First trip did great. Very happy with the look on my vehicle, and my purchase. Highly recommend it.

Comments
The installation instructions the require the enlargement of the access hole using a wrench or a file. Their preference is to enlarge the access hole on the frame vs. grinding down the spacers.

Great product. It took me and my son 5 hours to install. Get a long ratchet to get the screws out of the plastic cover underneath. Heat shield is a bit if a pain but just keep trimming it till it fits. The video says to us a cargo stap to hold the muffler up. We used a car jack. Video said to leave the plastic cover off after installation. I figured the manufacturer put it there for a reason. I used tin snips to trim it up. Plastic pins can't be used again so we used cable ties. Everything fits perfectly.

Not too hard a job. Aside from having road grit fall in my eyes while on my back, the most difficult task was reattaching the rubber muffler mount. Great looking installation, and very fast service. I've used etrailer for 3 hitches and have always been happy with the products and service.

Just recently purchased a hitch for my 2013 honda accord cpe v6 and was very satisfied. Delivery was super fast. Product is top quality. Easy to install. Did it all by myself. Took about a good 1hour from start to finish. Video on the site was very helpful for installation. Will post pictures soon.

overall, I'm happy with the hitch delivery was excellent but after opening box and the wrap around the hitch found that the bag that contained the paper instructions and bolt accessories was very wet and the bolts, washer and pull wires where starting to rust. instructions are unreadable. I would recommend e trailer just no wet instructions.

2013 Honda Accord

I just installed this hitch on my 2013 Honda Accord. The kit from etrailer contained all of the needed parts. The hitch fits perfectly, is secure and looks great. Etrailer did a great job of processing my order and George followed up to make sure that I had everything I needed. I installed this hitch so that I could mount my bike rack on my car. The rack was quite tight when I inserted it into the receiver which should help to stabilize the installation but I had to lubricate the parts to install it. I was able to easily remove the rack. Also, the plate above the receiver and the loops below make for a very small area in which to insert a wrench to tighten the rack. I could not use the tool that came with the rack and had to use a deep socket instead. Not a big deal. All in all I am quite satisfied with the hitch and with etrailer.

I purchased the Thule Roadway 2 Bike Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting, Thule Bike Adapter Bar, trailer hitch receiver and Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device for my 2012 Acura TL to take my mountain bike and my son's bike camping over the summer. I was a little nervous using it for the first time, especially on a 3.5 hour drive every other summer, but the equipment functioned flawlessly! I even received a comment regarding how sturdy the equipment is and that it does not move a lot like other bike racks they have seen. I did have an issue with the stinger, but etrailer resolved my problem with absolutely no issue what-so-ever. I'm very happy with the products I purchased and even more happy with the purchase experience and interaction I had with etrailer and its staff.

1997 Honda Accord

For those that are installing on Honda Accord Hybrid 1997 this hitch works nicely; although I was able to cut fit and cram the cover back into place and doubt most would do it since it took me three hours do it. Also should note hole should be slightly enlarged on the frame mount. Don’t be fooled, the threaded feed wire on the bolt is enough of obstruction to stop the bolt from being able to be pulled into place thru the frame. Total time 5 hours hitch but three was getting cover fit back into place

Install was successful with video instruction on my 2013 Honda Accord. Difficulty from 1-10, about a 6. Well made product. Use it for our bikes to go anywhere with our Thule hitch rack. Risk mention: (For Honda or similar 4 door sedan) On steep driveways. Need to reverse slowly on an angle to avoid scrape from hitch. Other than than that minor adjustment, very happy with product.

Your website was first rate. After viewing the installation video one time. I installed the trailer hitch a week later when it arrived without reading the instructions. The video was exactly how the installation actually was (type car / equipment). The road test of actual type bicycle rack to hitch video gives a great insight to the expected movement during ruff / bumpy drives and it gave me added confidence that was buying capable equipment. Most of all when I called in my ordered your company rep (was that you?) referred me to the lower price hitch because I was transporting bicycles not towing a trailer as she discerned .....!saved me $[..]!....I like that. See my attached images.

Purchased for a 2014 Accord Sport. The powder coating flaked off in two places - very small areas. Had some rustolium black to re-paint areas but i'm not 100% sure I didn't damage while installing. Only had two issues that not covered in written instructions and video. I had to enlarge the hole in the frame rail at the attachment point - fortunately had a bit large enough and didn't have to run out to buy one. The 2nd issue was that there is an extra plastic body panel under my spare tire well that interfered with the horizontal bars of the hitch. Used an oscillating multi-tool to cut out areas for clearance (see photos). Not mentioned in the video - with dual exhaust I felt the mufflers were too heavy to let just hang - so i supported with a jack stand. The only problem with this was having to adjust the jack stand to work on either side of the car. Overall - fairly easy install - I did it all by myself on ramps - would have given 4-1/2 stars if option available. I was fortunate to have all the additional tools necessary to complete the install - would have been nice to know all that I would need ahead of time.

This drawtight hitch is a perfect fit for my Acura TSX.The installation took just about 1-2 hours with a help of a friend. The only thing that took awhile(about 30 mins) in this installation is the shaving and trimming the hole of the frame where the bolt and plate goes in. After That it was a breeze .what I like about this hitch is how hidden and discreet it looks. Some hitch I see on other cars looks very noticeable from a distance. This one was pretty hidden and it doesn’t look big on a car. The hitch receiver does stick out of the vehicle maybe an inch or inch 1/2 from the rear bumper. I also used a thread locker(blue) loctite from extra protection. Thanks etrailer for the fast shipping!

Good looking product (for something that goes under your car). Easy install. I had to make the holes just a bit wider on the car frame to fit the plates through the wholes. That took the longest time. Other than that, pretty easy install. Trust me! I have a hard time changing a light bulb and this was relatively pain free. I did it all alone! and it took me about 1 hour. I've been using it to carry my bike rack and so far so good. Have yet to tow anything with it. I will however be towing my motorcycle this weekend. We'll see how it handles then. You can barely see it on a Honda Accord 2009. The people at etrailer were very professional, fast delivery, and are very involve in customer satisfaction. I would definitely buy from them again

Great product, mostly easy for a DIY, weekend-warrior mechanic. The youtube video assistance was great from e-trailer. Be careful of the size of the unibody hole size, as this may not be large enough for the metal/rectangular bolt holder. Unless you find a very easy solution like drilling a larger hole from the trunk compartment, invest in the tool they highlight in the video to pull the bolt thru the 12+ inches of unibody to the mounting hole.

Just got the hitch and plug in light harness installed. Everything fit great. Really happy with the product. Only issue I had was one of the U bolts were the wrong size. I was given 3 bolts for the frame instead of 2 and 2. Luckily I had a bolt that fit sitting near by. But other than that I am extremely happy with the product. Perfect setup with my 5x8 trailer for hauling my four wheeler and motorcycle.

  • Recommended Hitch, Wiring Harness and Towing Accessories for 2009 Acura TL
In terms of appearance, install procedure and weight capacity, the Draw-Tite # 24899 and the Curt # C11496 are pretty close to identical. I'd recommend the Curt # C11496 because the hitch is manufactured in the USA, and Curt does a better job on their powder coat finish, in my opinion. As for the wiring harness, I'd recommend the Tekonsha # 118537 because of its higher quality and the fact that other than the fact that you'll need to run a power wire up the positive battery terminal,...

  • Is the Draw-Tite or Curt Better for a 2015 Honda Accord
The # 18050 strap was required by Curt on all their hitches when using a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier as it limits torque placed on the hitch receiver. However, this was changed a year or so ago and is no longer a requirement. With that being said, between the two I would go with the Curt # C11681. The Curt is also American made and is less exposed than the Draw-Tite as well. And again, you wont need the # 18050 strap.

I looked up the towing capacity for your 2016 Honda Accord coupe with a V6 and it has a 1,000 lb trailer weight capacity. As long as the trailer you plan to tow weighs less than that you'd be fine. For a hitch the Draw Tite part # 24899 is the way to go as it has more than enough capacity than you'd need and unlike the Curt for your vehicle does not require the use of a stabilizer strap when carrying a non-supported load like a bike rack. For trailer wiring the Tekonsha part # 118695...

  • Hitch Recommendation for a 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid for Bike Rack
For your 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid the Draw Tite hitch part # 24899 is a confirmed fit. For a bike rack you will be limited to 2 bikes maximum because the hitches for the vehicle are Class I hitches. I recommend going with a light weight bike rack to reduce the stress on the hitch and vehicle. The Kuat Beta, # B202-114, is a great option. It is Class I compatible, holds 2 bikes, and weighs just over 12 pounds. I have linked a video review of this bike rack for you. If you plan on...

  • Best Bike Carrier Type for High-End Carbon Fiber Road Bike Transported on 2016 Honda Accord
The best solution for you to carry your high-end carbon fiber road bike on your new 2016 Honda Accord is to install a light-duty Class I hitch such as # 24899 from Draw-Tite. This will completely avoid your valid concerns about wear on your new car's paint. This hitch will install without drilling using the included hardware. Some trimming of underbody panels will be required and you'll find it easier to get to the mounting points if you lower the exhaust. This is easy to do and the whole...

  • Installing Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24899 on 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid
The Draw-Tite Class I Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24899 referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid. The larger appearance panel that you mentioned on your model will indeed need to be removed to access the existing holes in the frame where the trailer hitch will attach. You can choose to re-install the panel after installing the hitch using the existing fasteners, but it will likely need to be trimmed to fit correctly. I have attached an installation...

  • Everything Needed to Tow With 2016 Honda Accord
I took a look at the owner's manual for a 2016 Honda Accord and though you will be able to tow a trailer, please keep in mind that the maximum your Accord can tow is 1,000 lbs. To do so you would need to start with a trailer hitch, and I recommend the Draw-Tite # 24899 which has a 1-1/4" receiver and is a bolt-on installation so there will be no drilling into your Accord's frame; I have linked a video showing an install of this hitch on a '16 Accord for you to take a look at. In...

  • Best Trailer Hitch for 2016 Honda Accord Sedan
For your 2016 Honda Accord Sedan Touring the Draw Tite hitch part # 24899 would be the best options. The Curt hitch part # C11681 requires the use of a stabilizer strap when carrying a non-supported load like a bike rack. I attached an install video for this hitch for you to check out as well. Your Kuat NV part # NV12G would work well with this hitch installed on your 2016 Honda Accord Sedan.

  • Is Trimming Required to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2013 Honda Accord Sedan
We do have several trailer hitches for the 2013 Honda Accord. I have provided a link to them for you. In the list that comes up you will see something called Installation Notes for each hitch. On all of the options we note that a heat shield must be modified or trimmed for hitch installation and that an underbody trim panel must be modified or trimmed if present. I have included a link to the instructions for Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24899. You can see where the trimming is needed and...

  • Difference Between Hidden Hitch # 60325 and Draw-Tite # 24899 for 2008 Honda Accord 4 Dr.
The Hidden Hitch # 60325 (no longer available) and Draw-Tite # 24899 are manufactured by the same parent company, Cequent Performance Products. Both hitches will appear identical, will share the same weight ratings, and will install in exactly the same manner. If you were using the hitch as the attachment point for a 2 bike rack or other hitch mounted accessory that is compatible with a Class I receiver, and are not planning on doing any light-duty towing, the Draw-Tite hitch would be...

  • Maximum Towing Capacity and Parts Needed to Tow a Waverunner with a 2017 Honda Accord
The maximum towing capacity of your 2017 Honda Accord is 1,000 lbs. The towing capacity of the hitch will not change the vehicle's towing capacity as the lower of the two ratings (vehicle/hitch) will always be the limiting factor. For your Accord, I recommend using the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 24899 which is a Class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver tube opening. The only real difference between the two hitches is that Curt part # C11681 will require the use of a...
