Video Transcript for Tow Ready Wiring - Wiring Adapters - 30104 Review

Today we're going to take a look at the Tow Ready 4 way flat to 6 way square Wiring Adapter for Jayco trailers. Now, this Wiring Adapter will allow you to plug in the square 6 way right here onto your trailer and connect it to the 4 way flat that's on your tow vehicle. The adapter is wired to transfer the tow vehicle lighting signals to the appropriate pins on your 6 way square connector to operate your Jayco camper lights. Total length on this adapter is 31 inches, uses 18 gauge wires, and has a maximum of 7.5 amps per circuit. That should do it for the review on the Tow Ready 4 way flat to 6 way square Wiring Adapter for Jayco trailers.

4-Way Flat to 6-Pole Square RV Adapter for Jayco RV Only

This item match my existing trucks trailer light wiring harness and connected to my Jayco popup camper with no problem. Worked great!

This little bugger is the Bomb! Leave it up to jayco to make a proprietary wire harness for pop up. But the little connector 4 - special6 works great! Customer service is outstanding with etrailer! Will definitely use again for trailer needs. Thank you!

I tried it initially and it did not work but will keep trying. Like the length of it. Perfect length.

First I have to ask are you using it for a Jayco trailer? Also it is meant to go vehicle end4way to trailer end6way.

Only place I found this adapter/connector. Nearest Jayco dealer is nowhere "near".
Good price.
Fast delivery.
Well packaged.
Customer service easy to get to and resolved my order issue(I had put my email address in incorrectly.).
Opened box, pulled out cable, plugged into camper and van. Lights were "flickery". Removed rear lense's, cleaned same, tightened ground screws - all lights perfect!

When I need anything else I'll be back!
Ted, Lititz, pa.

Working fine, though not as often as I wish it did. I dont get to go camping as much as of lime to. Again, nice pics of great, good price.

This product works great. The lights didn't work on the pop up camper we bought. One of the previous owners must have cobbled together their own adapter cable to convert from 6 pins to 4, the wire colors didn't even match up. Rather than try to figure that mess out, I bought this cable. The camper lights worked immediately after using this cable. It's well constructed and should see us through many camping seasons.

After a year this cable is still working great, we havent had any troubles with it.
Zack - 07/29/2019

Works like a charm and no there’s no need for adapters!

When I was doing research, I kept coming back to etrailer. Best reviews and best price. Ordering was quick and easy and had my order before expected. Thanks etrailer

Been installed for a year and have not experienced one iota of difficulty. Just be=need to find more stuff to need so I can order more from etrailer!!!

I just got the product and it installs very easily with a minimum of disruption to the existing vehicle wiring. Delivery was a little faster than projected, but I probably should have gone with a level of postage that would offer a speedier delivery. The wiring harness went in fairly easily. The Jayco adapter works fine. I don't know how it would have worked for a more complex connection than a tent trailer, but for my purposes it seems to be fine. The lady that I placed the order with seemed to be knowlegable and even talked me into getting a lower priced product that was reported to be just as good as an existing offering.

We recently purchased our first PUP trailer (a 1997 Jayco) and I realized immediately that I had a problem: the trailer came with a 7-pin connector and our Nissan Pathfinder had a 4-pin connector. I stopped at an auto parts store on the way home hoping to find an adapter, but no dice. I pulled it home that night with no lights and checked the next day, and found they had exactly what I was looking for. It was a simple purchase, a great price, and I was surprised to find that even with the least expensive shipping option they still provided me with shipping updates and package tracking. It came quickly via UPS, was the ideal length, and worked perfectly. Probably my favorite thing about buying from e-trailer was that they actually took the time to explain ALL the shipping information, including who they use, which most online retailers do not. It makes a difference when you live in a rural area with no local mail delivery, and USPS delivers to your P.O. Box while other shipping providers will bring it to your door. Thanks for keeping it simple and delivering a perfect product at a great price.

I purchasd this to use on a Jayco Jay series PUP camper for a trip from Tennessee to Florida. It worked exactly as advertised. My wife and I were very nervous about it and checked the lights every time we stopped. Each time we checked, all lights were working on the camper

Just like other people in this review section, I purchased a 4-way flat to 6-way square adapter from another vendor (Walmart, in this case), and nothing worked properly. Then, I researched this product, purchased it, it arrived in record time, and every light worked flawlessly! Outstanding.

This is the exact product I was looking for to match up with my 4-flat outlet on my vehicle to make the lights on Jayco camper work without using an adapter. Very reasonably priced and paid a little extra for 2-day shipping. This wiring harness and the tow hitch I ordered at the same time were delivered to my doorstep the very next day, ahead of the 2-day schedule! Both work perfectly! I will be back again on future orders!

It's works great does everything I need it to do. I used it on a 1999 jayco eagle pop up camper. It plugged right into the camper and all of the lights worked like a charm. The website is very easy to navigate and order from and fast shipping. This is not the first thing I have bought from here and have been very happy with everything I have gotten. Thanks

The wiring harness works great. The one piece design eliminated the splices I had been using. Wish I would have had this all along. Looks a lot better also. Thank you.

When I called on receiver & hitch..wiring harness, Mr. Adam E, was on the line. He was WONDERFUL..I had lots of questions and he took the time to answer everyone of them. I will tell everyone about everyone about etrailer. I am VERY VERY Satisfied.

I had bought an older camper and needed to replace the harness. ETRAILER was fast and had a product that work well. I was impressed with the quality of the product at such a reasonable price.

Just bought the popup. This wiring harness was exactly what I needed, eliminating the need for me to "rig" something up. Great website and prices. This will be the first place I go when I need something.

Order process fast, shipping fast, product is good quality as described. Unfortunately the wiring on my trailer was wired wrong so I had to rewire the trailer for the product to work properly. As I stated. Good quality product.

Thank you

As described. The staff here is awesome and went out of their way to help me with my questions and followed up on my order, even though it was small.

Great place.

Product is still working fine and I have bought from here multiple times now, still great service!
Tom - 12/06/2016

Just plugged it in and all the trailer lights worked! Could use a dust cover. Installed on a 94 Jayco Popup. Can hardly wait to go camping!

It does the job!

still pleased with this still works
Brent S - 10/01/2021

Again etrailer has come thru with flying colors. I tried several options with no success. Etrailer had just what I needed and it worked perfectly, YAhoo. In the future, I wont waste my time looking anywhere else. Thanks to the crew at etrailer.
Very satisfied customer.

this harness works perfectly. It is long enough so that you don't have to worry about putting any strain on it taking sharp turns.

I am very pleased with my 4 to 6 wiring adapter I had went to several auto stores trying to find one. It was shipped right away and guess what work the first time thanks guys

Exactly what I needed. It was easy to find, order and was received in a timely manner. The whole process could not have been more simple while at the same time exceeding my expectations.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Lights that All Come On With Blinker Activation
The problem is in the wiring of the trailer. It sounds like the circuits are shorting out to each other before they reach the taillight assemblies and that's why when certain circuits are activated all lights come one and when a turn signal is activated all of the lights blink. You will want to inspect the wiring from the connector all the way back to the light assemblies looking for any cut or exposed wire that could be causing the short and fix as necessary. As long as you have a Jayco trailer, the Adapter 4 Way Flat to 6 Way Square for Jayco, item # 30104, is the only part that you will need to power the brake lights, turn signals and running lights on your trailer. You will not have trailer brake or 12 volt accessory power with this adapter.

If you only need the lighting circuits to function on your Dutchman pop-up camper, you can remove the existing 6-Way square connector and install the Draw-Tite 4-Way Trailer End Connector, part # 18004. This will plug into the 4-Way on your 1997 Chevrolet C/K truck and give you running light, brake lights, and turn signals. You would wire the 4-Way connector to the wires from the 6-Way, color to color. The white wire on the 4-Way would be grounded to the trailer frame. The brown wire...

  • Tail Lights Go Dim with Headlights On
Generally speaking, when a trailer is plugged in and the lights go dim this points to signs of a bad ground. I would first start off by making sure you have the correct trailer connector adapter which should be the Adapter 4 Way Flat to 6 Way Square part # 30104. Once this is checked you then need to move onto the grounds. There can be a ground for each trailer connector and each tail light. I recommend removing each of these, sanding down the surface, and then using new mounting hardware. Please...

  • What are the Blue and Yellow Wire Functions on a 1976 Travelmate Camper
The most likely function of the blue wire is output to electric brakes (on a trailer) or possibly a third brake light (on an in-bed camper) and for yellow it is likely 12 volt power. What you can do is use a separate battery and touch each wire to the positive terminal and see what turns on. Then you can label the wires accordingly. The other option is to trace each wire to see where they go.

  • Trailer Lights Not Working When the Headlights are Turned On 1990 Coleman Pop-Up
It sounds like your trailer taillights are working until you turn on your head lights. This means you have a ground issue. When the headlights are on the highest amperage draw is placed on the wiring system and, a faulty ground will show at this time. Make sure you have good metal to metal contact. Paint and corrosion can act as insulators, so make sure the grounds are touching clean metal. I would check all of the ground connections on the trailer. First, check the ground at the trailer...

  • Why Would Trailer Turn Signals Stop Working When Headlights are On
Try improving the connection of the main ground wire of the trailer wiring harness. Make sure it is attached to a clean metal surface. Or you can run all of the trailer wires back to the main ground. This is actually the ideal solution. But you can also check the current grounds for the lights to make sure they are making a solid connection to a clean metal surface. What you described is the classic insufficient ground scenario so finding a way to improve the grounds will fix the problem.

Sometimes a fuse may appear to be in good condition, but really needs replacing. To rule that out, take a new fuse that has the same rating and insert it into the proper location. • Does the Adapter 4 Way to 6 Way # 30104 Interfere with Surge Brakes
Surge brakes operate completely independently from trailer wiring so if you were to use a Adapter 4 Way Flat to 6 Way Square # 30104 you would not have any interference with your surge brake performance. Unless you have a reverse lockout solenoid on your surge actuator. If that is the case you will need a wire that runs from the reverse light circuit to the solenoid so that you can reverse your trailer without the actuator activating the brakes of the trailer.

  • Adapter for 6-Pin Square Harness on 1981 Shasta Pop-Up Camper
For a trailer of that age, it's difficult to say what connector would've been used, as many of the camper manufacturers used proprietary connectors like what the Jayco # 30104 adapter is compatible with.
