Install your electric brake controller quickly and easily with this custom wiring adapter. Simply plug one end of the adapter into your brake controller and then plug the other end into the built-in harness beneath your vehicle's dash.
Features:
This adapter plugs into the 5-pin connector on your vehicle's built-in brake control wiring harness. The harness is located underneath the dash, to the left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal.
To install your electric brake controller you need to connect the wiring of the controller to your vehicle. Certain manufacturers offer pre-wired options, typically known as tow packages, wherein these wires are run for you from the dash to the trailer connector on the back of your vehicle. Often, a brake controller wiring harness is included with your tow package. This harness plugs into a port beneath your dash and connects to the four wires of the brake controller. If, however, you have a brake controller with a plug in place of the four loose wires, you can use the Tekonsha adapter.
This adapter requires no hardwiring. It is designed to plug directly into your electric brake controller for the simplest installation possible. Because there are no wires to connect, installation is not permanent. You can unplug and remove your brake controller at any time and securely stow it away.

Worked great
Avoid the etrailer made harness.it has been nothing but problems. The connector at the brake controller disconnects power if the cable is bumped. Pretty scary to loose trailer brakes when you are slowing in a hurry!
I tried several times to make the existing connector work and finally cut it off and wired the one that came with the tekenosha controller.
Save your money and just splice your own.
I had some confusion about how to set the trailer brake, so I called Tekonsha, and was told how to set it up. After that I have had no problems with the unit. as far as I can tel, it works very well.
I have never towed anything that had trailer brakes, so when I bought my Coachman, I ordered the unit from you knowing I was facing a learning curve, but it has worked out well.
I tow a 2018 Coachman Clipper, weighing close to 3700 pounds. Just the right size for my wife and I. I use it for hunting, fishing, and wild mushroom collecting.
The Tekonsha brake controller wiring adapter was a very easy install on my 2013 4-Runner Trail. It has performed perfectly.
It would be easy to have this part order and install on the Tundra. i went one step further and end up using the wiring in the box with P3 Trailer brake and had to splice the wiring to make longer extension in order to install the P3 in the empty slot between the lighter and 12v socket which make is more customized look and out of way. Would be cool if they offer longer version for someone who want to install it somewhere else behind the driver's spot zone.
Purchased brake controller for my 2014 Tuna. excellent order/shipping/receiving time.Received everything I needed with order in a very timely fashion. Website made it very easy to find and decide on exactly what I wanted. Etrailer will be my first choice for finding the accessories I need in the future. Purchased Tekonsha P3 brake controller and is the best thing to a factory installed controller I have encountered.
Pictures of the install. Approximately a 20 min job. First picture my finger is pointing to the factory plug with the etrailer supplied harness plugged in. Note the harness did not specify that the white common with the ring terminal should be connected to ground. But then again that SHOULD be obvious. I will be towing this weekend so I will rate the product then. One minor gripe is that there is always power to the unit which is a battery drain (as evidenced with the key out of the ignition and the unit stayed on) Not sure as to the impact but the controller can always be unplugged or removed.
Sorry for the dirty floor mats in the photos.
I appreciate how helpful the site was in identifying the right part for my vehicle. The site's videos showing installation were helpful for finding the connection to the vehicle wiring. Less so for the rest of the installation since I prefer a mount to the right of the steering column. I mounted mine in place of the in-dash but easily removable key/coin/wallet tray on my Tacoma using 3M dual lock fasteners (somewhat like velcro). When I'm not using the controller, I can easily remove it and its mount and put the in-dash tray back if/when I want to. The harness is just barely long enough to do this, so another two inches in length would be much appreciated. FWIW, I ran the wiring above the steering column. Not sure, but perhaps I'd get a little more slack if I'd gone below instead. Though it doesn't look like it in the photo, it is mounted parallel with the centerline of the vehicle.
We ordered a part for the 2008 Land Cruiser and was told that it's the same installation. IT IS NOT! The connection to the harness is not in the same location as Tacoma. After looking for more than an hour, I got smart and found some info on another website. Even the manufacture has the info wrong. So, if you have a 200 series Land Cruiser, your plug is located under the dash behind the switches for the mirror. You will need to take apart the lower dash panel and then push out the switch panel. There is no need to detach any switch, it all hangs out just fine. See photos for the location of the plug. Plug the adapter in from there you can follow the instructions.
Install is very easy once you locate the vehicle's brake controller plug. The plug in a Tacoma is extremely well hidden. It is high above the driver's side kick panel taped behind a plug wrapped in foam. I have attached a photo to help you locate it in a late model Tacoma. Once I found the plug, the install took less than 20 min. The controller works great.
Semi fast shipping. 2 days late but still arrived in time to install it. Product is as described online. Controller and wiring adapter looks good and easy to install. The hard part is where to install so it'll look nice and clean. Can't wait to go pickup travel trail. No photos yet.
Very helpful. Quick shipping and accurate part.
Fast shipping with good pricing. I have only had one issue And they Resolve the issue immediately
Excellent customer service ever time.
I buy all of my towing and trailer parts from etrailer.com
Thank you all
Installed P3 this weekend in 2013 Tundra Crewmax with towing package and pre-wire. Extremely easy, even with the center console installation. Will let the photos tell the story. Did have to combine the P3 included harness with the additional OEM harness to gain the length I needed. Plug and play with the pre-wire. Hooked up to trailer and set boost levels for varying loads. Works great! Vast improvement over older model Tekonsha controller in my Ram 2500 Diesel. Pull a Kiefer BP horse trailer: about 3600 lbs empty, 7500 with 3 quarter horses and gear. Usually pull 6-8 times per year, with only 1-2 horses. Short distance and flat terrain. It took about an hour to install. Dad is a retired USAF/FAA radar technician with every tool known to man. He QC'd the job. Will try to write better review later.
With this plug-in wiring adapter, it was very easy to install the brake controller on my 2005 Toyota Tundra. Thank you
Easy to install. Owners manual had location of factory plug and we installed the entire system in less than an hour. We used the removable bracket so the unit can be stored in the case that was included with the controller when not towing so it is completely out of the way of the drivers legs and knees. We are a collision repair shop and I would rate the ease of installation as relatively easy if you just use common sense and consider wiring location and controller location BEFORE drilling holes in the plastic lower dash cover. Also need to be mindful on the lower air bag that protects the drivers legs in a serious collision and the routing of the wires if you install it on the right side of the steering wheel. We used wire ties and a small plastic wire holder to place the wiring in a secure place that does not rub through the wire insulation or get snagged by the drivers feet. See the attached photos. All work was performed in slightly less than one hour.
I bought a new trailer and wanted to go camping. I did not have a brake controller. I called around and to get a Prodigy P2 installed it would be a 2 hour drive to the dealership plus about $200 bucks for parts and another $115 for an hour of labor.
I found this website, got the prodigy P3 plus 2 day shipping and installed it with their super simple video in 15 minutes all for less than $200. I was very pleased to say the least.
I highly recommend them. Service was outstanding! Video instructions spot on and simple.
Wire harness is professionally made, proper length and works perfectly. Hardest part of the install was getting the vehicle's connector out from behind its harness to plug this harness into.
I picked up the redarc brake controller and sumo bags. I installed both today. I have to say I'm excited to use both when I pick up my travel trailer. The Redarc is so clean! It might have taken me an hour to install but that was just bc I was deciding how I wanted to run it .
Sumo bags took an hour to out on! I cant tell you how great they work yet. But the install was a breeze.
No hassle hookup. etrailer was awesome, they shipped my P3 and this connector immediately and provided great tracking. They also followed up afterward. Excellent customer service!!! Real customer service is hard to find these days. Thanks etrailer!!!
I haven't towed my travel trailer yet but the controller is installed in my 2008 Tundra and looks great. Everything seems to be working as it should. I can't wait to try it out. Regards, Dale V.
The wiring harness could not have been easier to install, but it did take three service techs to locate the vehicle plug under the dash. etrailer is great. Package was shipped same day and arrived on the given date, although USPS delivered at 9:30 at night. Communication and follow-up from etrailer was a pleasant surprise. Will definitely shop here again.
Perfectly matched item for my truck/trailer connections. It was very easy to install and arrived in just a few days. I haven't had any problems with the wiring harness.
Easy plug and play! The factory harness plug is taped up pretty well behind a lot of wires- remove the tape carefully so you don’t cut into any of the hundreds of wires under the dash.
Harness length is plenty long enough to tuck the unit near my right knee in a 2003 Tundra.
Arrived sooner than I expected. Watched one helpful installation video (not exactly the same vehicle nor same brake controller but still useful). Took me about an hour and half (with heat breaks) to figure it all out and install. Works great. My only regret is that I waited so long to get to it. Saved over $250 compared to RV repair shop installation.
