This unique mount from Gen-Y Hitch includes a ball mount that can be easily positioned in one of the 4 stacked receivers that sits along the vertical shank of the unit. This dual-ball mount lets you tow a trailer with a 2" ball coupler or a 2-5/16" ball coupler.
Also included is a pintle lock, which can be inserted into the receiver directly above the ball mount to create a pintle hitch for hooking up a trailer with a lunette ring. Unlike other adjustable pintle hooks on the market, there are no nuts and bolts to remove and retorque when you change the positioning of this hitch. Just move the ball mount and pintle lock up or down to get the proper height and secure them in place with the included pins.

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Gen-Y adjustable two-ball mount with the pintle lock. Has a nine inch drop and rise, and it's for 2 1/2 inch hitch. Has a 32,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now, this is an adjustable ball mount.
This will let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. Basically, the shank right here is what'll slide into your 2 1/2 inch receiver that's on your vehicle. And then up front, you'll either have a 2 5/16 diameter ball or a two inch diameter ball, which will provide the connection points for your trailer coupler. Now, what's neat about this part number is they also include this pintle lock accessory right here. Now, when this part is paired with the larger 2 5/16 diameter ball, it provides a connection point for a lunette ring coupler.
Now, what's nice about that, the lunette ring couplers are the heavy-duty trailers that have just the large ring on them. I wanted to pop up an insert to show you. If you look at that picture, you can see it's a round ring that just drops over the ball. And then also, if you look at that picture, you can see this pintle lock accessory that slides over it to keep it connected to the ball. And the way you would install that, basically, what you would first do is just remove your clip and your pin, push that out of the way, and then drop your lunette ring right over that.
Once it gets completely over that, slide the lock accessory over the lunette ring, so you get it lined up with the hole. Push the pin through there and just clip it in place. And now, that's locked over that lunette ring to keep it from coming off. Now, if you end up using it without, if you're just hooking up to a regular trailer coupler that no lunette ring, you can't actually move this. It has a second hole.
You can move this back into the shank for storing it. Put the clip back in. It'll hold it into place. And then that's out of the way. You can use it for a regular coupler. Now, the capacity on this ball mount's gonna be determined by the ball size you use. If you use the larger 2 5/16 diameter ball, gross towing weight capacity is 32,000 pounds. Maximum tongue weight of 3,500 pounds. If you flip it over and use the smaller two inch diameter ball, gross towing weight capacity is 16,000 pounds. Tongue weight capacity of 1,500 pounds. If you notice, this does have the four stacked receivers. They're 2 1/2 inch size receivers. They'll accept the included ball mount, the pintle lock, as well as other hitch mounted accessories. And it does also include these two 3/4 inch diameter stainless steel pins and clips. Those are included to secure the ball mount to the shank and the pintle lock to the shank. What's really unique on this, I really like the clips they use. If you notice, they are a different design. They're a twist design. Basically, to remove it, most of the time, the clips just have two pins straight ahead and sometimes they're hard to push in or take off. These, you just twist it. They pop off real easy. Take your pin out, just like that. And then when you go to install it, just line it back up. The straight pin with the hole, push it and it'll twist into place. Very simple to remove or simple to install. Now again, this gives you an adjustable height, so it'll let you tow trailers of different heights with the same vehicle. Works well if you have a lifted truck. Basically, this ball mount can be lowered or raised to match your application. And if you put this ball mount in the lowest position right down here, it's gonna get you a maximum drop of nine inches. If you flip the shank over into the raised or the rise position, put this ball mount into the highest position, it'll get you a maximum rise of nine inches. And just to show you how you would do that, again, you just pull your clip and pin out. We're gonna switch it. Right now, it's a 2 5/16. We'll say we're now get your two inch, you just turn it upside down. Now, I'm gonna slide it back into the normal position. But again, you can put it in whatever height you need. Slide it in till you get the hole to match up to the pin. Slide the pin through, put the twist clip on. And right now, you locked in position for a two inch ball. Now, this is a heavy-duty steel construction. They use a zinc primer and a black powder coat on the two-ball mount and the pintle lock accessory. The shank is a primer with a durable silver vein epoxy coat to resist corrosion. Now, when you do install this into your hitch receiver, it will require a hitch pin and clip or a hitch lock for securing it. Now, that is not included. We do sell those separately on our website. They do have two hitch pin hole diameters. A smaller 5/8 inch diameter and a larger 3/4 inch diameter. This part is SAE J684 certified. It is made in the USA. Application, again, this fits a 2 1/2 inch by 2 1/2 inch trailer hitch receiver. And a note I do wanna mention is this ball mount has many different dimensions to it. So, I wanna recommend for you to go to our product page of this part to verify any dimension that might be needed for your application. We have a picture of this on the product page with all the dimensions put on it. Tongue weight is 3,500 lbs.This hitch is the last one I should ever have to buy. It is well worth the money and should last a long time. I pull 10,000lb trailers and it works out well. No rattling or clanking with this hitch.

Well, getting the hitch into the receiver was a major pain in the rear. So much powder coating made it very difficult to insert. I hade to use a 5000lbs tie down ratchet, and it took about 45 minutes to complete the task. Not happy with that portion at all.

I have both ball and pintle hitch Trailers. That is why I bought this hitch. The hitch it self is well built but the Paint job is not that great . I have had it a year and most of the paint on the Shank ( another reason I bought it for the 3" shank to fit my receiver on my ford Superduty) is pretty much gone. The hitch it self still clanks around in the receiver .I wish there was an adaptor to fit over the Larger ball so that my pintle eye would not move around so much.

We use these for almost every truck in our fleet. For us, it really is a 1 hitch solution. On some of ours that our several years old and stay in the receiver year-round, the finish is starting to come off because of the ridiculous amount of salt that they put on the roads in our region. But otherwise they still function 100%.

Great product. Always the best. This is the 3rd one we have purchased for our heavy trucks. My hitch came all scratched and banged up from poor shipping. Not a positive for a $xxx hitch. Will be looking for a different distributer than etrailer in the future for these products. Great product, 5/5, however etrailer did no favors on this product.

Great product. Very stout, but also very heavy. Only complaint is the weight, particularly because I am not a full time trailer “tower” so I install/remove frequently. Definitely peace of mind in terms of not having to worry about ball mount issues with 2500#+ tongue weight.
