Insert this heavy-duty mount into your 2-1/2" hitch to get 4 stacked 2-1/2" receivers for mounting the included 2" ball, 2-5/16" ball, pintle hook, or other hitch-mounted accessory.
Features:
Specs:
This unique mount from Gen-Y Hitch includes a ball mount that can be easily positioned in one of the 4 stacked receivers that sits along the vertical shank of the unit. This dual-ball mount lets you tow a trailer with a 2" ball coupler or a 2-5/16" ball coupler.
Also included is a pintle lock, which can be inserted into the receiver directly above the ball mount to create a pintle hitch for hooking up a trailer with a lunette ring. Unlike other adjustable pintle hooks on the market, there are no nuts and bolts to remove and retorque when you change the positioning of this hitch. Just move the ball mount and pintle lock up or down to get the proper height and secure them in place with the included pins.

Hi everyone. Aiden here with the trailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at some Gen-Y ball mounts for your two and a half inch hitches. Now this is going to come in a variety of different sizes. We've got a few of them here to choose from right now so we'll be showing you those and checking them out. The main difference between these is gonna be the variations in the drop height, but aside from that, they're gonna work with the same hitches and have the same weight capacities.
Let's check 'em out. So right away I do wanna point out the range of sizes we're working with. This is going to be the six inch drop variant we have in our hitch right now, and then over to the side is the 12 inch drop. These are the smallest and the biggest sizes in this hitch capacity. So if you need other sizes there, there's gonna be a few in between.
And there's also going to be this offset design which also features a six inch drop, but has one of these stacked receiver tubes up above where it attaches. So if you need a slight rise on occasion, this could be the way to go. That being said, these all have the capability to just completely remove from the hitch, flip upside down, and in the case of this 12 inch one, also give you up to a 12 inch rise. Now that's really gonna depend on your application, your truck and trailer combination what you're gonna need. But just know that if you need a little bit of both and you don't always want to be flipping it inside out from your hitch, then you can go with this option that can give you a little bit of that offset on either side.
Now that we've taken a look at some of the different sizing options, let's take a look at the things that are gonna be the same between all those options like the ball options you have here. There's the two and five sixteenth inch ball up top that can give you up to a 21,000 pound gross trailer weight rating with a 3,000 pound max tongue weight rating. Now if you need to, you can flip that around to a two inch ball that can give you a slightly lower weight capacity. That's gonna be 16,000 pounds of gross trailer weight rating with a max tongue weight of 1,500 pounds. Something else you get here is a pintle lock attachment.
So I've got it pinned in the storage position. I can unpin it after I drop my lunette ring trailer on top and then re-secure it just like we would with the ball below. What that lets us do is hook up to a lunette ring trailer. It's gonna afford the same weight capacities as the two and five sixteenth and the ball will allow, so that's good to know and it's really nice that right out of the box it's gonna work with a variety of different trailers. One thing I do wanna point out is that the ease of using the pins and clips even with large gloves on right now is actually really nice. Gen-Y does a good job at adding the small bend to their clips that actually makes it very easy to use and put on or take off. So that's just one of the nice touches that includes with this. Just something to note though is that it doesn't include a hitch pin, so you will need to pick up one from either etrailer or Gen-Y yourself. We've got all those options here on our site and I would definitely recommend a locking hitch pin for that. So I do wanna point out some measurements with these ball mounts. Again, they're gonna be pretty much the same for all of these different options. And one thing I'd wanna point out is on the shank of every ball mount, there's going to give you two hitch pin holes to choose from. Those are spaced an inch apart so if you need to get a little extra clearance from your vehicle and your trailer, you can put it on this outer one or slide it in a little bit more for this one. We're gonna be taking our measurements from the outer hole here, that gives us a little more clearance so just keep that in mind as we're measuring these. If you want to know the measurements from the other hole, just subtract an inch. Now from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball, that's going to be 13 and one quarter of an inch. That'll let us know how far our trailer is whenever we're hooking up to it. And then from that same point to the bare outside edge of the ball, that's gonna be 14 and a half inches. That lets us know how far this is sticking out from the vehicle when it's in our hitch. With the ball mount in the drop position though we can reduce some of that space it takes out and actually flip the ball around, having to put it sideways, re-pin it like that and then obviously the pintle hook attachment could flip around or just slide back into itself and take up a lot less room sticking out from your hitch. In this position, it only sticks out 10 and one quarter of an inch from the center of the hitch pin hole to the face of the ball mount right here, so it does take up a lot less room that way. The pintle lock and the ball are gonna have this matte black powder coat on top of it and then it's all going to be a steel construction. Now the ball mount itself with the stacked receivers, that's going to be a zinc primer base with this textured powder coat finish on top. That textured finish does give it a cool look but it's also going to be really resistant to rust and corrosion. Just feeling it and working with it it does feel a bit more durable in that standard powder coat so I do expect that it'll hold up pretty well to the elements over time. And hooking up with this ball mount is really much like any other. The height adjustment lets us get this matched up to our trailer so we can really match it to our truck and trailer combination and be hauling everything level. Even though we're not utilizing the pintle lock right now, it's stored down underneath, so it's locked away and ready to go for next time. If I needed to use that bottom slot, I just moved that pintle lock up to a different slot, and then all that you have to do is just hook up to your trailer. (metal clanging) And when it comes to adjustable ball mounts there's tons of options out there, ranging from the really entry level options all the way up to some very premium options. I think this one from Gen-Y lands itself in a really nice spot where you've got excellent construction and very good ease of use. I like the stacked receiver design because one, it makes adjustment very easy, but two, it's very modular in a sense. If for whatever reason the ball where our trailer's hooking up gets chewed up and starts to rust and corrode over time, then we can replace just that part. We can take it out, slide a new one right in and it's good to go very quickly. So things are replaceable, upgradeable and you can use it for a long time. Not to mention you've got a ton of different size options so you can get this fit to your truck and trailer combination pretty easily with all the different drop height variations. That'll do it for our look at this adjustable ball mounts for your two and a half inch hitches from Gen-Y. Thanks for watching.

Insert this heavy-duty mount into your 2-1/2" hitch to get 4 stacked 2-1/2" receivers for mounting the included 2" ball, 2-5/16" ball, pintle hook, or other hitch-mounted accessory.Overall the hitch is heavy duty and solid. I have ready some reviews about the Pintle option and have used mine for the first time towing an empty trailer. It is showing some wear behind the ball where the wedge is welded. I will try it with a load and see how it holds up.
i hate to give a negative review but for the money it should not have that excessive amount of wear with it’s first use.
I have a curt hitch with the Pintle and it has worked perfectly. I was looking for something that had a better curb appeal with the Gen Y.

I did send the pictures and question over the manufacturer. It looks like they would like to send out a replacement and have the one you have sent to them. They would like to inspect the one that you have. I will be in touch with the details on the return and shipping out a new one.
best hitch I've owned. I have no doubt it will pull any of our equipment with no problem. odelelia was a big help and so nice when I ordered it a year ago.
Great hitch, ball will loose the black paint. Need to apply lubricant before and after use for easy hitching.

Yes, lubrication is recommended in maintaining this ball mount. Here are some other rust preventing tips:

Love the functionality of this hitch. The way it’s set up in the adjustability is great. Also by far the strongest hitch I’ve seen on the market
The one downside I have is that after four trips towing the snowmobile trailer in the salt all the powder coating is flaking off and it is rusting very badly. I was hoping with a powder coated hitch that it would last more than a year before it would all start flaking off.
Over all I would buy again.
No complaints regarding etrailer experience
Fast shipping and excellent customer service
As far as gen y hitch looks extremely well built and will probably outlast truck trailer and me. Only complaint is my other hitches are adjustable in one inch increments which allows for perfectly level towing with any trailer with gen y the drops are in 3 inch increments which is fine for 2 of my trailers which have adjustable couplers but my enclosed trailer which I tow 5 days a week is a fixed coupler and I can only get close to level being said gen y sure beats the two weigh safe hitches I have wasted time and money on
awesome product we own about 5 of these hitch's.
Love it!! Does everything I need! Don't have to keep switching hitches!
Heavy Duty and works very well
Just received my new hitch and my first impressions is that this is a very stout hitch. The hitch is very heavy, so I won’t be taking it off and on much. I’ll leave the stacked receiver on the truck, I had a locking pin to secure it to the truck. I will store the 2-ball mount in the cab for now until I get some locking pins. Don’t want to become a victim of theft! When I obtain the locking pins, I will leave the balls attached. If you want a very stout adjustable hitch, I definitely recommend this Gen-Y hitch. Can’t wait to test it out on the road!
I wanted to be able to tow any trailer with a single hitch and that is why I purchased this model. Any size ball and pintle hitch all in one implement is great.... the drawback, this thing weights a lot. I don't like leaving the hitch on the truck if I'm not towing, but this thing is too heavy to move and I'm worried about this much weight bending the toolbox on the truck if I hit a bump.
For measurement purposes... This is a 2000 F-350 4x4 on stock 16" rims and tires and a CM flatbed. I got the 5" drop\rise model and it looks like it is going to be great. In case i need it, I added the 1 7/8" ball to the drawbar. When I can afford to get three matched key pins I will order them.
The Gen-Y hitch is a beast and should last forever. It weights approx 55 lbs. Haven’t had a chance to use it yet and I hope that it doesn’t rust like I have seen in some reviews on YouTube etc. My big disappointment is the fact that it does not take my 2 1/2” to 2” sleeve (the 2 ball mount is 2 1/2”) so I can use another hitch with it to move a small trailer that rides lower than this hitch goes. I even talked to someone at Gen-Y to verify that it would work. They said it would. IT DOES NOT. To much pain to send it back. I’m sure I would have to pay shipping.
It’s heavy duty. I think it weighs as much as my equalizer hitch. I just got a new truck so we’ll see on a hitch height but on my old truck I wish I’d gotten the hitch with one height up so I had more adjustment and so it’s off hitting the ground. Oh well I tried guessing. I should of listened to the spirit. But a great heavy duty hitch.
Love this hitch receiver, best quality. Super fast shipping
This thing is robust! It has handled everything I've hooked to.
The best hitch you can buy! I run these in my company trucks. Makes connecting to anything we have simple and easy. No searching for lost hitches or figuring out who is using what.

That kind of wear does sound strange, especially for this ball mount. Would you be able to send a picture of the wear you are seeing?
