Simple tab for adding sway control to a hitch. Keep in mind you need to beable to weld this type of steel or know a welder that can do it properly. etrailer made it simple and cost effective to order.

We ordered 3 Kenda S-Trail 145/12 tires for our pop-up, along with Reese friction sway control, sway control tab, and a Camco step cover. The order arrived quickly, was complete, and was packed well. We've dealt with etrailer before and this is their usual excellent service. Now to get the tires put on and we'll see how we like them!

  • Availability of Replacement Friction Pads for Sway Control Bars
We do offer replacement friction pads for the Reese SC Weight Distribution/Sway Control system. The pads alone are offered in a set of four and include the mounting screws. The pads measure 1-23/32-inches long x 7/16-inches thick. This is part # 58512.

  • Can Second Friction Sway Control Unit be Added to Trailer
Typically, to add a second sway-control bracket to their WD hitch, the Draw-Tite Sway Control Tab, part # 3442 is welded on to the head of the system, giving an additional mount for the sway control ball as you asked about. If you happen to be just using a standard ball mount on your trailer this tab would work for that as well. You can then add the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit, part # 83660 which has the ball included and can be used in the # 3442 tab. You'd just need to remove the...

  • Should 1 Sway Bar or 2 Sway Bars be Used for a 29 Toy Hauler
For any trailer that is over 26 feet long a second friction sway control bar is recommended. To add a second control bar you need to use the Sway Control Tab (Weld On) # 3442 as well as the Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660. The friction sway control units do help with trailer sway but are more of the economical option. I recommend using a weight distribution unit that has the anti-sway feature integrated so that you can back up your trailer without having to disconnect anything. If you...

  • Solution for Installing Sway Control on Trailer Where Theres Interference on Left Side
You can use the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660 on the right side of the trailer instead as it sounds like there isn't interference there like on the other side. You'd just need to pull out the insert piece and spin it 180 degrees and reinsert it so that it can be mounted and install on the opposide side of the trailer. If you need to put the ball mount tab on the opposite side of the ball mount you'd then want the weld on tab part # 3442.

You would then need the part # 3442 to weld onto the driver side of your ball mount.

  • How to Pick Out New Ball Mount for Higher Weight Trailer
We have the parts you will need but you will first need to determine which rise/drop ball mount you would need that would allow your trailer to be towed level. You will need to measure from the top of the hitch opening to the ground and then from the bottom of the trailer's coupler to the ground. The difference is the amount of drop you would need. I attached a help article that details this process as well. I also attached a link to a page that has all of the ball mounts we offer that...
