Rob: Hey everybody. Rob here at etrailer.com, and today we're going to be taking a look at the TowSmart quick links. Now there's about a million different uses for these quick links here. They come in really handy. I like to have an extra couple set of these on hand, because just like in this situation we actually had the hook on our safety chain rust out and I really didn't feel safe putting it on my truck when I'm towing my trailer here. We're actually going to be replacing that hook, we already took it off, and it's actually super easy to use these quick links.

We'll just unthread it, open it up, we can slide it around our chain, and then it's just super easy to hook up right directly to your safety chain loop. We can thread it back closed, and now we have a really secure connection and we don't even have to have any tools for it. Let me just tighten everything up and we know our chain is being nice and connected to our truck and the trailer itself.The other thing I like, compared to the traditional S style hooks, we don't have to worry about them hopping out of the safety chain loop because they're going to be fully closed, rather than these hooks that have an opening on them.Another great use for these links, is if you have a broken chain that you want to mend back together, we can actually use the link to connect the two pieces back together, or if you have two separate chains you want to make extremely long, we can use this to connect those as well.Another great use is to extend out your safety chain, so you can put a hook in place. Our chains we're just a little bit too short to reach our truck, but now with the quick link in place, we have plenty of slack to reach them, and not have to worry about pulling those chains too tight.Now whenever you are towing, it is important to check all the components you're using and make sure you use the lowest weight rating out of all of the components you have. Our quick links are going to be rated at 5000 pounds, which is more than enough for the trailer we're using it with, because our trailer is actually only made to support 3500 pounds.

Again you just want to check the application you're going to be using it with, because our quick links are going to have a rating of 5000 pounds of brake strength.A few measurement that's going to come in handy when you're looking for a link, is going to be the diameter of the link itself. And that's going to be a five sixteenths of an inch. Now the opening here to slide your chain, or whatever kind of connection point you're putting in, that's going to be a half inch wide. You want to make sure that whatever you're going to be putting it on can fit through there. The really nice thing about these links is they have a zinc coating on there, so they're going to be rust resistant and last an extremely long time.Now that we have our trailer fully hooked up, we're ready to hit the road.
