Wow, I have never had a simpler installation! The quality is great, and in just plugs straight in. Finished the job with the Hopkins Fold Over Mount. Super happy with the final install.

1998 Jeep Wrangler

‘98 Jeep Wrangler, absolutely plug and play, very simple installation. Pull down the cover behind the rear passenger tire, reach up inside the body to find the factory harness, unplug the connector and plug the new harness into it. Put the cover back over the opening. Did need a drill to run in the new grounding wire but they even supplied the self tapping screw for that. Great product!

1998 Jeep Wrangler

Thanks for the wiring harness, it was an easy install, plug and route the wiring to the trailer hitch. Sure beats cutting and splicing into the vehicle harness, chasing the wires for identification etc.! Simple instruction included with the location of the plugs to interface with. Best trailer hitch wiring I 've done in 20 years.

I am an electrical contractor by trade so makings splices is not an issue. I am so glad I purchased this trailer wiring harness, unplug one plug and you are in business and did not have to tamper with the existing wiring harness of my jeep. I taped in a magnet to the wiring harness so when not in use I could Tuck it in behind the bumper.

  • Troubleshooting No Signal on Yellow Wire for Hopkins # 42615 on a 2003 Jeep TJ
Even though the plug was found on the driver's side it does sound like your mechanic found the correct plug for the Hopkins # 42615 on your 2003 Jeep TJ. If the lights on your Jeep are working normally then that leads me to believe that the wiring harness is messed up somewhere. Try piercing the wiring harness at different points to see if the signal is lost somewhere. Typically this would be a ground issue but if your ground is secure and connected to a clean, bare-metal surface then...

  • Troubleshooting Intermittent Function of Blue Ox Bulb and Socket BX8869 Installed in Vehicle
Sounds like maybe an intermittent connection on the ground circuit of the trailer wiring on the motorhome. Try cleaning the pins of the trailer connector to see if that improves the connection/ground and allows the kit to work.

  • Right Side Trailer Lights Go Dim With Brakes Applied
This is a tell tale sign of a ground issue. I recommend you check that the new light assembly you just installed has a proper ground. In order to do this you would need to remove the light or ground wire and then sand down the mounting point with some sandpaper. You can then reattach with new hardware. If this does not fix your problem please let me know and I would be glad to offer further troubleshooting advice.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring That Stops Lighting Up When Brakes are Applied
Sounds like a weak ground. The brake light circuit of trailer wiring will pull the most amperage as the brake lights are the brighter illumination circuit on the taillights. Typically when this circuit causes the lights of the trailer to turn off the issue is a weak ground not being able to keep up with the amperage draw requirements. If he isn't popping fuses on the tow vehicle then that also would indicate a weak ground. Best option is to go over the trailer wiring connector on the truck...

The Mopar Recreational Flat Tow Wiring Kit part 68321424AB is required on select Jeep Cherokee's in order to activate the electronic power steering (EPS) system while the vehicle is in tow mode. This part must be obtained from the dealer but since you have a part number now that should make things easier on their end. Since the truck works with any other trailer just fine the issue must be on the trailer. Check its connector and make sure it is clean and free of corrosion inside where the wires attach and outside on the pins. It could also be a ground issue. Ground problems normally show up when there is more draw on a system such as when you have the running lights on and then use another function like a turn signal or brake light but can show up any time. They go on to caution that "Failure to use the proper Mopar wiring kit to power the steering system during recreational towing may damage the vehicle’s steering system and/or other vehicle components." This sounds like you've got a ground issue on the trailer-especially with a fresh installation on both the truck and trailer. • Electrical Connection from Motor Home to a Jeep Wrangler for Tail Lights when Flat Towing
If you already have the diodes installed, all you have to do is it connect the motor home to the Jeep Wrangler. The diode kit probably came with a 4-Way flat trailer connector that should be at the front of the vehicle. In a perfect world, the motor home would have a 4-Way flat receptacle. If that is the case, just plug then into each other. • Correcting Trailer Ground Problem Turn Signals Blink Once and Stop When Brake Is Pressed
it sounds like you have a ground problem somewhere in the trailer wiring or on the trailer wiring harness installed on the vehicle. Ground problems will make the trailer lamps do all sorts of wacky things. With the running lights and the brakes on, activating the turn signals will draw maximum amperage on the trailer wiring system. • Troubleshooting Weak Trailer Taillights
At least one of the problems you have is insufficient grounds. First you will want to make sure that all of your taillights are grounded to a clean metal surface. You also want to make sure the main ground for the trailer is connected to a clean metal surface. It sounds like you have a ground problem on the trailer. I'd start by checking the ground wire at the trailer coupler and making sure it is connected to a solid clean paint free spot on the coupler or frame. Then I would check the tail light assemblies. Tail lights are usually grounded through their connection to the trailer frame. If you have a plastic license plate bracket on the left side this could be the culprit. You should also check the brackets that hold the lights. If they are...

You may want to also check the fuses on the motorhome to make sure they are not blown and causing the issue. • Troubleshooting Wiring on 2006 Toyota Sienna Lights Work on Cargo Trailer Not on Tent Trailer

Often times with strange situations like what you have described it, is the ground wire causing the issue.
