Cathy T was a FANTASTIC help in finding the exact right product that we needed!!! It's sometimes difficult to understand what we need because what we may call an "extension cable," may actually be labeled as a "wiring adapter" or "trailer connector." She was very patient and thorough as she found us the precise product for us. How Does 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector Fit In Vehicle-End 5-Way Trailer Connector
I have attached photos of a 5-way vehicle end connector and a 4-way trailer connector you can check out. One photo shows them separated and the second photo shows what they would look like when attached. As you can see the 4-way will fit just fine in the 5-way flat connector. To keep moisture and dirt out of the 5th pin connector you could use electric tape to cover the opening or use a bit of dielectric grease like part # 11755 in the open pin.
