Video Transcript for Review of Draw-Tite Heavy Duty Receiver Hitch - Mounting Brackets - 4907

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the seven inch mounting bracket kit for the Draw-Tite class V service body trailer hitches. Now, these are universal mounting brackets that'll let you mount the trailer hitch cross tube to the frame of your heavy-duty or commercial vehicle. These brackets are required for installation of either the Draw-Tite class V service body hitch. Part number 41990 or part number 41991.

Both of those we do sell separately on our website. And I just wanted to show you the picture of there's what the cross tube looks like with the hitch receiver in the middle. Now, I did mention two part numbers. The difference in those two part numbers are just the length of the tube. One, it's 44 inches long.

The other is 66 inches long. And as I mentioned, we do carry both of those on our website. Now, these brackets are designed to install to the vehicle. They are either a weld-on, or you can see the holes for a bolt-on installation. And again, another insert just to show you what the cross tube looks like with these brackets installed.

Basically, the bracket right here has a square opening on it that'll slide onto each end of the hitch cross tube. And then you slide it along the tube and adjust it to fit the frame width that's needed for your application. And then it's welded onto the cross tube. And then after the brackets are welded on them, then you can either bolt on or weld on the brackets and cross tube to your vehicle's frame. Now, once these are installed, the center of the hitch receiver opening will be about seven inches from the top of the vehicle's frame rail.

Basically, when you install these brackets, this top here will be right at the top of the vehicle's frame rail and the hitch tube will be in here. So, if you measure from the top here down to the center, let me just show you, it should get you about seven inches. That's your seven inch drop. Now, these are a nice, black powder coat finish over an e-coat base to help resist corrosion. Has two plates, one for each side. Measurements on the plates themself, we measure the width from here to here. You can see it's gonna be right at nine inches wide. And the overall height from the very bottom of the plate to the top of the plate is about 9 1/2 inches tall. But that should do it for the review on the seven inch mounting bracket kit for the Draw-Tite class V service body trailer hitches..

Defiantly looks like a great product! I’m using it for more than just a trailer hitch, so hopefully it will work. But I can’t say enough for the help I got from the staff, especially Jamie B !

Great product. But even better Sevice from etrailer as usual. Always a great buying experience.

1954 3100 Chevrolet. Ya just aren't going to get a hitch at Walmart for this truck. This is an awesome solution! Ya have to be able to weld but the end result is great! Thanks George!

  • Possible Trailer Hitch Solution for 2004 Chevy Box Truck
I spoke to my contacts at Curt and Reese and the only styles of hitches that can be made to fit a box-truck body like yours are multi-fit RV hitches like the # 41990 that has a 16k capacity. This is a weld on hitch that would require either the 7 inch drop brackets part # 4907 or the 16 inch brackets part # 4916.

  • Recommended Hitch With 10k or 15k Capacity for 2000 Monaco Diplomat
The Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch # 41990 you looked at is exactly what I would recommend for your 2000 Monaco Diplomat. There are no bolt-on options for this capacity that will fit your motorhome so a universal weld-on hitch is what you need. This has a max gross trailer weight of 16,000 lbs and a 2" receiver. You will also need the 7" weld-on brackets # 4907 or the 16" # 4916. We recommend taking the hitch to a certified welder for installation.

  • Trailer Hitch Fit Recommendation for School Bus Frame
Your best option is going to be a multi-fit hitch like the Reese # 41990 with the drop brackets part # 4907 for a 7 inch drop or # 4916 for a 16 inch drop. This hitch setup was designed specifically for applications like yours where there isn't a custom fit option and you need something very universal.

The 7" Weld-On Bracket Kit part # 4907 which is designed to be used with the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch Cross Tube part # 41990 or part # 41991 has two plates which are each 3/8" thick. There is also the 16" Weld-On Bracket Kit part # 4916 available which has side plates that are 3/8" thick as well.

We have measured this before and found that the Draw-Tite # 41990 is roughly 7-1/2" from the back of the crosstube to the front of the receiver. To install this hitch you are going to need the 7" Bracket Kit # 4907 or the 16" Bracket Kit # 4916.

  • What Class IV Hitch Is Recommended For 1995 F350 Flatbed With 4 Inch Channel ICC Rear Bumper
You will need to measure the distance between your frame rails and how far below the frame you will need the hitch to sit. The Draw-Tite Specialty Class IV Trailer Hitch, # 41990, is a 44 inch long hitch with a 3 inch square tube. It measures 7-1/2 inches from the back of the hitch to the front of the receiver. It is a weld-on installation. If you need to lower the hitch I have the Draw-Tite 7 Inch Weld-on Bracket Kit, # 4907, which will allow the hitch to sit 7 inches below the frame...

For a higher capacity multi-fit solution your best option would be a hitch designed for service body trucks like the # 41990 that has a 16k capacity. This hitch fits vehicle frames up to 44". You can use the 7" # 4907 or 16" # 4916 mounting brackets, or have some fabricated specifically for your truck. • How Does the Draw Tite Hitch 41990 Install
I checked your order notes and it looks like your ordered the part # 41990. You should note that this isn't intended as a front mount hitch and to install it you would normally want the part numbers # 4907 for 7 inch brackets or part # 4916 for 16 inch brackets. However, I did attach a link to the install instructions for this hitch for you to check out. I also attached a diagram from the instructions that shows how it would install using the brackets.

For a 2004 Ford E-350 Cab and Chassis the Draw-Tite # 41906 is a custom fit, but you will need to make sure that the bolt holes are 38-5/8 inches from frame to frame in order for it to fit your particular model. While this hitch is a custom fit for the E-350 cab and chassis, it's possible that your box truck body may not have that hole spacing on the frame so you will want to confirm this.
