What's up everybody It's AJ, with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out the Westin Rubber Bed Mat. So, this is gonna be a mat that goes in the bed of your truck. It's custom made for your truck. It's gonna help, not only sound dampen, but protect that bed from getting damaged. So, when you to stuff in there, or you move around, you don't have to worry about it scratching or causing any issues.

Let's check it out. Right away, I said they are custom fit. So, make sure you use our fit guide to enter your vehicle information and get the right one for your truck. So that it fits in as nicely as it does here. Now we're lookin' at Bob's truck.

He works here at etrailer.com, as well. He's got a carpet in here and that's what his solution is to help protect his bed mat and just solving things when he loads it up. So, the problem with that is the carpet does work, but you can easily catch it when you're loading stuff up, and it can fold over. Also, even though it's rubber on the bottom, it doesn't catch so well. You can move it around pretty easily.

So, if you put something heavy on there, and take some turns or something, it's gonna shift and move on you. Another thing with that is, the longer loads. When you go to load things up which kinda need to go all the way to the front, it can be an issue. Cause, again, it'll catch, or bunch up there, and then you'll have to climb in there, and try and adjust that to get it to sit right. And he goes hunting a lot, so he's throwing a lot of hunting equipment back here.

So that can shift around too, cause that's, again, heavier stuff. So, that could push this carpet around. So, you got the rubber bed mat in place, there's not gonna be much movement. It's custom fit for the bed of the truck. So, it's not gonna shift around when you have those heavier items in there. It's not gonna move when you go to slide in a longer load or something. It's not gonna bunch that up. So now, I'm in the bed of the truck. Just wanted to show you how this works. Not only is it protecting the bed from the heavy bucket full of parts. You see, I can drop it in there. It's gonna protect that. It actually dampened the sound a little bit. You do have a camper shell on here, so it's gonna echo. But the main thing is, pushing around. You know, sometimes you leave something like this in the wrong spot, with nothing to lean against, it's gonna slide back and forth. But you can see, I can push on this bucket, I can move it a little bit. But it's gonna take a lot to actually move it. That's me pushing right here at the base. But with turns and stuff like that, it'll tilt, and it won't go anywhere. Just to give you a better picture of how it works, we took it off the mat, put it on our spray in bed liner here on the tailgate. I'm just gonna show you pushing it back and forth. It's really easy with this bucket. You see, I'm not pushing that hard. I can still shift it around and move it. It spins pretty easily. So, that's what's gonna happen if you leave it back there on this kind of surface, and making those turns, or aggressive stops, it's gonna slide all around. While we're talking about slidin' around, wanna go underneath the mat and show you, these are what's gonna help grip it on your bed. So, you can see that there's a lot of them on the bottom of the mat, and that helps it from shifting around. If I jump off of it really quick, and try and pull it, see, it's not going anywhere. I can move it a little bit. It takes quite a bit of pull to get even it even to shift just that little bit. So, it's far better than that carpet that was in here that slid all around. Sticking with the mat, looking a little bit closer at the top and the texture we have here, at the rubberized texture, with the elevated portions here too. And that's gonna help with liquid. So, if you spill some water in here, or you know, you don't have a camper and it rains, it's gonna help that water shift into these channels and get to the back of the truck. Some other bed mats out there, they have a diamond design, or they're just smooth and they don't have that help. So, it's not gonna help direct that water anywhere. The mat's made of 100% recycled rubber and it's 5/16 of an inch thick. You can really see it from that angle where, how much of the mat is actually protecting the bed underneath. Shifting focus to how it fits. You can see the custom fit goes right around here at the ends, and even around the wheel. So, it's made, that's when I said use the fit guide to make sure you get the right one, because that's how well it fits. There's a little bit of gap there, and underneath there's still the channel, so if there is some liquid spilled in there, it can still get under the mat and escape right here. You may notice by looking at it that it is a little lumpy especially up here, up front. That's because it comes to you and it's gonna be really rolled up pretty tight. We just undid it. One thing I would suggest is leave it out in the sun for a little bit. That way it gets warm and it'll spread out a little more evenly in the back of your truck when it's time to throw it in there. So, when loading heavier things, it's gonna work out just fine. You see, even though it's rubber, the box slides on there pretty well. Now I will say that if you we're to go do something bigger than that, maybe like a pallet, or an extreme load like that, it is gonna be a little difficult, just because you know, you can't push that in there as easily. Especially with a camper shell, you're not gonna be able to come up and drop it in from above. You're gonna have to push it in there. You might wanna just go ahead and remove the mat if you're gonna do something like that. But, for an easy trip to the hardware store, when you're just grabbing some things, it's gonna work just fine. Now we put the carpet back in. Just wanna see how it would be if we we're to go to slide this in. So, I go to slide in. And see, I've caught the carpets. Now I gotta kind of pull that out, and then adjust the carpet too. Overall, I think this would be a nice addition to your truck. Comparing it to some other bed mats that I've seen, is there's the Black Armour ones. Those are gonna be a little bit thicker. So, those are for far more aggressive, probably if you we're taking heavy loads in your truck all the time, you're really worried about protecting your bed. I would go that route. I mean, that's an extreme thing though. Like, it's gonna be a heavy duty mat. So, this one is more for everyday use. I think it's still gonna have plenty of protection. You saw how thick it was right here, and how well it worked when you dropped the bucket in there, or I tried to push things around. I think having some grip in your bed, and protecting it, is gonna really go a long way for you in your truck. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out, and I hope this helped..
