Bike Frame Adapter Bar

Swagman Deluxe Adapter Bar Easy InstallationSwagman Deluxe Adapter Bar Easy Installation

This adapter bar allows you to carry a bike with a sloping top tube or step-through frame on your bike rack. It fits between the seat post and handlebar stem post of your bike to ensure level transport on your hanging-style bike rack. It also creates a top tube so you can carry your bike on a frame-mount platform-style rack. The spring-loaded bar telescopes to fit multiple frame sizes, and it can be used with no-rise bike stems.

Easy Installation

Swagman Deluxe Adapter Bar Vinyl Collars

To install the adapter bar simply open the hooks with the integrated release buttons, wrap one hook around your handlebar stem post and the other around your seat post, and close the hooks. The hooks open outward - parallel with the bar - to help you avoid interference from the seat and handlebars during installation. The bar has red "Up" indicators on each end to help prevent incorrect installation. The hooks have a vinyl coating that won't scratch or scuff your bikes' paint.

This bar works great. Use it on the Townie Electra while on the Swagman Dispatch bike rack behind the camper.

Still working great. Several camping trips and the bar helps keep the bike secure.

I'm very happy with my Swagman bike rack, fat tire cradles and the frame adaptors. Received them today and got everything set up for our Ebikes. Lauren gave me great customer service and was very in depth with her explanations of all my products she helped me order. It's nice to talk to someone that knows their product line that they sell. KUDOS!!! to Lauren.

Working great no problems. Ive recommended the swagman bike rack and Etrailer to many people

by:

The rack and the bike frame adapter works awesome. Buy something good the first time and you’ll never need another one. Very sturdy product. I have a full size Chevy truck and if you mount a single bike on the outside position you can put the tailgate down without tilting it. Very impressed with that. Assembly was pretty straightforward.

by:

First of all, thanks for refunding my shipping charge. I like the bar, but I think hooking on my handle bar instead of the stem is better, otherwise it will slide down and mark up the paint on the frame. What do you think?

by:

Great Bike rack. I've used it now for two months both on my truck and the 5th wheel. Very sturdy and safe. Easy to assemble, hook up and load. One small glitch; my 5th wheel has a window in back and the handlebar came close to the window causing concern of window damage, but my wife found a piece of round foam that works great to help this. (see pic) Glad I researched and got this one. Frame adapter bar works simply for step-through bike too.

by:

Could not put my bike on the rack without the frame adapter. Easy to use and convenient.

A great solution!

by:

I had bought 2 electric bikes with a step through frame. The Hollywood two bike rack with the center locking device doesn't extend low enough. This adapter works perfectly. Just push a release button on each end to attach below your seat and handlebars and the internal spring adjusts to your bike and the lock draws the bike down and locked into the tire wells.

by:

I was looking for something to help hang my wife's bike on a car bike rack. The girls style bike is hard to hang properly if at all. I found this adapter bar on etrailer. I ordered it and wow.....Works nice, just what I needed.
The service from trailer IS top notch. I was told personally when my order would arrive @ wanting to use it for a vacation very soon. I will do business again with trailer. Thank you.

by:

Highly recommend the Swagman Chinook Bike Rack! I have been using mine regularly during the last year and have had no issues. It's easy to attach and remove from my Honda CR-V. It's very sturdy and doesn't shift or 'bounce' around when I'm driving.

A year later and I am still loving the Swagman Chinook bike rack! No issues and I use it a few times a week.

by:

Very prompt delivery. I’ve never seen product packed as well as the e-spec bike rack was! Very impressive!

by:

Nice design allows for easy installation. Surfaces are protected so it shouldn’t scratch the bike.

by:

We finally got a chance to use this on the back of our travel trailer with our e-bikes. They fit on it easily and were very stable. Didn't appear to be a lot of bouncing. Highly recommend!

Thule I purchased Thule Raceway PRO 2-Bike Rack - Trunk Mount.–SEPT. 3rd 2019 I hauled my bikes over some of the toughest roads in NY to see how well the Raceway Pro-2 would hold up. I kept looking out of my rearview mirror to make sure our bikes were not laying in the road or another car's windshield but I had to know if the videos and reviews were true. I gave the Raceway Pro 2-BIKE RACK 5 stars since it behaved as advertised. I did not realize how heavy the bike rack was but it is a well-constructed product.  Since gaining confidence in the stability /strength of the Raceway Pro I have taken my bikes on the highway, over bumpy roads with potholes and the bikes held steady and did not sway. I can also say the Swagman Bike Frame Adapter Bar I purchased for my wife’s bike worked as advertised. With the bike key locking method we felt safe enough to leave the bikes locked in a parking lot while we had breakfast.  I recommend Raceway Pro for those who enjoy bicycle riding and want their bikes to be secure while traveling. I would suggest however to those who are frequent bike riders to purchase additional replacement stretch bands because I don’t know the strength of the bands long term.  It’s always good to have a spare should a rubber band snaps and you don’t have a spare.  Just a precaution.  Safe travels

by:

I’m really happy with my new Draw-Tite hitch and Swagman bike rack! They work really well on my 2010 Honda Fit, and look really sleek and stylish, too. I had my local car service place put them on them for me, and the guys found them very easy to install. I’ll be carrying just one bike, so I put on just one set of tire holders, and they’re on the outer side so I can load and unload the bike without having to lift it around the backside of the mast – so easy! I also got a Swagman adapter bar (thanks for the suggestion, Alexis!) to work with the curvy step-through frame, and it’s very easy to click into place. I’m several miles away from nice safe bike trails, and I’m really enjoying how this new setup helps me go there so I can ride my new bike in a good place.

by:

This adapter fit my bike very well. The installation was easy

by:

the bike rack works great i would reamend it to anyone looking for one thank you for a good product

by:

Giving it 5 stars now that it works with my wife's bike on the rack. Will update if I incur any issues on our drive to vacation.

Still works great. No complaints and I would recommend to others.

by:

Swagman frame adapter fits and works well. Make sure you measure and order the correct size. Very easy to use with my two Lectric ebikes. I have model 2.0 with the step through frame

by:

This was useless. It expands to reach between the seat post and steering head, but it doesn't get tight enough to enable the bike carrier to secure to it. And there was no way to lock it in place. Had to return it.

by:

I used the bike rack for the first time today drive over 100 Miles. The installation video tutorial was excellent and helped me in installing it on my vehicle. I have a RAV4 with a spoiler and The bike rack fit perfectly not touching the spoiler as described. It was able to fit 3 bikes securely as described. I had a Thule before this and this bike rack far exceeds the quality and I feel comfortable and safe using it. I would highly recommend this bike rack and etrailer.

by:

We love the bike rack. Very well built. We had a girls bike that we also got the adapter bar to fit the rack. Very sturdy & well built also. Couldn't be happier with the rack & the service we had ordering it.

by:

Works perfectly to hold my front entry bike on my Mitsubishi Outlander. Feels safe and it is easy to use. I recommend this product

by:

Works as advertised. Good product.

by:

Customer service was excellent. Tiffani was a great source of information and answered all my questions. Installed the rack and test drove it to the mail box. Looks solid. Will be traveling cross country soon.

Thanks Tiffany!

This is my third order from etrailer, and it was an excellent experience as were the previous orders. The order was started within hours of my placing it, and the estimation of delivery time was perfect. They have a wonderful order tracking system that allowed me to see the status/location of my order in real time. Nice communications, excellent follow through, and good prices. I'll be back.

  • Do I Need a Bike Frame Adapter Bar when Using the RV Rider with Step-Thru Electric Bikes?
I have a great solution for you. Even though the independently-adjusting cradles on the Yakima OnRamp # Y36FR eliminate the need of a bike frame adapter bar, the OnRamp is not safe to use on the back of a flat-towed vehicle. I I confirmed with the engineers at Yakima that the OnRamp cannot withstand the extra torque/forces exerted on the rack during transport on your 2019 Jeep Wrangler. Even if the OnRamp was approved, the 5-inch distance between the center of the pinhole and the closest...

  • Can I Use My 2 Aventon Adventure Lectric Step-Thru E-Bikes With the Sport Rider SE # HLY84FR?
From the sounds of your question, I assume you are talking about the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HLY84FR. If this is the rack you are referring to, yes! It works with 20" diameter tires as long as you have the adapter # HLY24FR for each bike. This adapter does not come with the rack itself. This rack is a great choice because it has a super high 80 pound per bike weight capacity. It also accommodates fat bike tires up to 5 inches wide (if you have them). As far as your step-thru...

  • Comparing Swagman E-Spec and Current Bike Racks for an SUV and a Ram ProMaster RV
You have a great eye. Both the Swagman E-Spec # S94FR and the Swagman Current # S64678 are super strong bike racks that are constructed for brute strength. This is because Swagman wanted both of these racks to be approved for use when attached to the back of motorhomes/RVs. However, the E-Spec has the advantage of strength because not only can the E-Spec withstand the extra force/torque exerted on it on the back of a motorhome/RV, it also can withstand the increased force when mounted on...

  • Bike Rack For Step-Thru Ebikes For Front Hitch
Hey Kenneth, thanks for the question and it's a good one as you're right, there are some bike racks deemed not suitable for use on a front hitch. So I did some digging, and since there's only a couple options for your 71 lb step-thru ebikes, the best one that you can use for the front hitch is the Thule Epos Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # TH99XE. I spoke to Thule about this and there isn't a specific restriction, they just said they hadn't tested it, so this is an option if you're comfortable...

  • Is Bike Adapter Bar Needed For Yakima LongHaul or Thule Range For Trek Marlin 6 & 7
Yes. You absolutely, positively, without any shadow of a doubt MUST use Swagman Bike Frame Adapter Bar # 64005 with your Trek Marlin 6 & 7 bikes on either the Yakima LongHaul # Y02476 or Thule Range # TH9057. As for the racks themselves, I would go with the Yakima LongHaul RV Bike Rack # Y02476. The Yakima ZipStrips that secure the bikes on the LongHaul are a bit "beefier" (to use an industry term) than the Thule straps, the LongHaul is also a few pounds lighter so a bit easier to handle,...

Unless your 2019 Honda Fit has the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch item # EH78VR installed then the Swagman Current Bike Rack item # S64678 will not work. This bike rack fits class II only 1-1/4" receivers and all 2" receivers. The other 1-1/4 hitches listed for your vehicle and the factory one are class I only. The Malone Runway Spare Tire Bike Rack for 3 Bikes # MPG2148 and the Malone Hanger Spare Tire Bike Rack for 3 Bikes # MPG2147 are virtually the same rack. The only difference is that the Runway is 1.5 pounds heavier than the Hanger and the Hanger comes with anti-sway cradles to keep bikes from contacting each other during transport. Even though the anti-sway cradles are nice to have, I recommend going with the Runway because it is a more economical option. As far as spare-tire fitment,...
