Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario. Technical Support

I have a 07 Tacoma 6Cyl. Off Road TRD with factory tow package hitch.
I called to confirm Item # 75236 was needed for replacement.
75236 looked nothing like the factory hitch on my truck. Again I called customer service.
I was told 75236 was the hitch for my truck.
The holes do not match up with frame or bumper.
I guess Im stuck with a expensive piece of black metal.
Not surprised.

The hitch looks different than the original, but have you tried installing the new hitch?
-- Etrailer Expert Sierra K - 07/13/2022
As far as I know, it is original hitch installed from factory. I purchased the 2007 Tacoma in 2014. Its possible the hitch could have been replaced between 2007 and 2014 with a aftermarket. I did get the 75236 installed. Everything seems good. However, It was very difficult. I attached some pictures below. Thank You.

2010 Toyota Tacoma

Just finished the complete installation of Draw-Tite hitch and Curt wiring harness on my 2010 Tacoma. I watched the eTrailer videos for both multiple times. Installation for both was exactly as described. My only challenge was the rusted bolts and nuts on this 8 year old truck. I spent about 3 hours spraying penetrating oil and slowly (and painfully) working bolts out and in. Lost my patience and rounded one head off (one out of 10, not too bad). I ended up cutting and grinding the factor weld nut off with a Dremel and replacing the factory parts with a functionally equivalent Grade 8 bolt and nut from the HW store. Wiring harness was a 30 minute job.

If I were to do this again I would go ahead and remove the bumper completely, and take the spare off as well.

eTrailer service was great - excellent videos and outstanding shipping - ordered Sunday and the package arrived Wednesday.

No problems after a year of light use.

An excellent hitch... easy to install with the provided instructions (hardest part was loosening the rusty bolts on my vehicle). The first one I ordered was defective (one of the brackets was welded at an angle), but I called folks at etrailer and they immediately sent a replacement.

Overall it was a great experience dealing with etrailer. The order shipped fast at a good price. The only problem I had was the packaging. The box had two holes in it when it arrived with part of the hitch protruding out the hole. There was slight paint wear on the protruding point but it is back where it mounts so not noticeable when installed. I would definitely use and recommend them again but their packaging needs more padding at sharp corners.

I see that your hitch has received some scratches on it due to shipping. This does tend to happen and when it does, we recommend using a Rust-oleum type paint to cover up any scratches and prevent corrosion in the future during use. I have a link below for your reference. I have also sent this over to our customer service department.

This piece of equipment is well made. The installation went very well in a small amount of time. The instructions were clear and concise. I was impressed with the overall process from start to finish. I will certainly recommend others to

I waited till the last minute to get my truck setup for trailer towing (moving my recent graduate to her new job/home). Used the express shipping. Everything arrived on time.

I installed this myself so it took a while (2 hours). A second set of hands would have helped. First tip: Use some tie down straps (flat nylon) and loop around your closed tailgate and the bumper. This will keep the bumper in place when you loosen the bolts. Second tip: I used a car jack from my wifes car to help lift the hitch in place. Balance the hitch on the jack and use some wire to hold it to the jack.

I also used a Curt no-splice wiring harness. This was simple to install. Hardest part was getting the darn connectors unsnapped.

Watch the vids on etrailer and anyone can do this themselves.

Easy online ordering. Accurate information on website to determine what part would fit my vehicle. Quality hitch was delivered within a week. Tracking was provided by etrailer.
Overall 5 star experience

Still rock solid piece of equipment I am buying another one for my other vehicle

2007 Toyota Tacoma

My hitch arrived quickly, and installed as described without any additional modifications to my 2007 Toyota Tacoma. It will allow me to pull larger trailers than the bumper hitch, and more importantly this hitch will allow me to use a drop hitch to keep my trailers level. I still have to install the wiring harness, but I would recommend this Draw-Tite hitch to anyone with a Tacoma.

I put this bumper on by myself, but it will be easier as a 2 person project. If you do decide to DIY make sure you have the right tools for the job!!! I went old fashion with a breaker bar, deep sockets, 3” extension, ratchets and some PB blaster. A one hour job took me the whole day. Instructions are easy to follow, but I would also watch the video from e-trailer on installation procedures. I found it was best to loosen the bumper brackets closest to the bumper because you had better leverage than if you loosened following the instruction. A right angle impact wrench will be your friend because a couple of boos on the bumper are recessed towards the rear of the bumper and there is little room to maneuver with regular tools and extensions.

2014 Toyota Tacoma

I had received multiple quotes to install a hitch on my 2014 Toyota Tacoma. All were around $400. So I did a little research and found the site. I found I could buy the hitch, the wiring harness and ball myself for less. The installation video they provided me gave me the confidence I could do the install myself. Now it's on and the entire process couldn't have been easier. If you can use a socket wrench and screw driver you can install your own hitch. Piece of cake!

Easy to mount, instructions and on line videos are clear and concise.
More than adequate for occasional use around the farm.
Over all it seems like a quality product for the price.

Would be nice if the aftermarket hitches would also bolt to the bottom of the bumper as the factory hitch does.

Very Good

2012 Toyota Tacoma

Got my hitch in just about in the time frame I was suppose to. Pretty easy in theory to install but there is some advice to offer. Make sure you get some PB Blaster on those rusty bolts on the Tacoma. Those fine threads make it hard enough to ratchet off but when they got rust on them...oh boy does it take some time and effort. But it was an easy install outside of that and the wiring kit went really smooth. Very happy with this purchase.

2008 Toyota Tacoma

end to end customer service. The videos are excellent and the personal communication from start to finish is really great thank you!

2005 Toyota Tacoma

Bought a new internal bumper support and hardware at the same time. I installed this by myself without a jack or lift. I was shocked when I had the whole bumper and receiver on in about 15 minutes. But I was lucky that I had a new Tacoma frame about 2 years ago so not too rusty. This product r seems very well built. I will have to drill a few holes to attach the 7 round plug plate.

I love the hitch and wiring harness i purchased for my truck, installation was as easy as it said it would be and website videos were extremely helpful. Thanks to everyone at etrailer for all the hard work in providing the perfect accessories for my vehicle.

2008 Toyota Tacoma

The right side frame bolt holes would not line up. The reason is the hitch bracket that mounts to the bottom of the frame was welded too high on the hitch by nearly a 1/4”. Reamed the right side hitch holes out so I could install the bumper bracket bolts.
2. The right side hitch bracket bracket is not flush ( 3/8” gap) with the right side of the truck frame. Will add spacers between the frame and hitch bracket. Will also require additional spacers on the right bumper bracket so the bumper bracket will be flush hitch bracket.

Built like..a truck. Installs with a low profile. Bombproof.
Altogether worthy purchase.

2007 Toyota Tacoma

Perfect fit. It looks great, mounted easily and performs as it should. Customer support at is awesome. They are quick to answer questions and provide advice.

Purchased this receiver hitch for my 06 Tacoma. Was approximately a 2hr install by myself, with socket set and a floor jack to support and hold the unit in place. Uses existing holes. Fit like a glove.

Quality product, fast shipping. Installation would be easier with two people, I installed alone using jack stands and a floor jack. Looks good on the truck, barely noticable... this is my third hitch purchase from

I have not installed the product yet need a little help but I sure like it. Price was right. Shipping was fast. Communication was great.

The item was well priced and the videos provided made installation easy. Glad I went with this product from this company.

2006 Toyota Tacoma

Used this hitch to replace the factory hitch on my 06 Tacoma. Fit perfectly. Just need new ear pieces to attach the bumper, which actually came with my new bumper that I replaced last year. Great company to deal with. Got my hitch in 4 days with free shipping.

The Draw-Tite hitch receiver fit snugly and bolts holes lined up perfectly to the vehicle frame. Bolts in package were the correct size and length. Be prepared to do a little prying to get the hitch receiver onto the vehicle frame. Once on the frame use a rubber mallet to bump the hitch receiver into place lining up bolt holes. If this is a 1-person installation a floor jack or wooden blocks are needed for an extra hand holding the hitch receiver up to the bottom of the vehicle and onto the frame.

The directions were simple and the hitch mounted up with no issues. Worked great for what I needed.
