Thank you so much for all your feed back for finding the replacement parts that fit our Sportworks bike rack.
Totally awesome care!!

I damage a number of parts on my Thule rack crashing into my garage.
Fortunately all of the parts that were damaged were available from etrailer

The parts came quickly and in no time the rack was good as new.

by:

I have a old Sportworks side arm rack that Thule bought out and the arm was to short to lock on my 29er and it fits perfectly. The only thing I wished it came with was the 2_5mm screws to hold the hook on to the arm as mine where a little rusty. I Did find some stainless ones that worked though.

by:

Hard to find factory Thule replacement part. Exact replacement as the original. Had to replace due to wear and age.

by:

The replacement arms are longer than the original ones that came on my carrier. I can carry almost any bike now without having to let air out of the front tires. Works great. I plan on buying 2 more for my rack extension.

by:

If you've ever suffered through Thule's customer service, skip the headache and order here. It's not inexpensive, but allowed me to bring new life to an older rack instead of needlessly replacing. I do suggest ordering replacement fasteners as you go. Overall a very good experience.

by:

Fast delivery!!!! Thank you

by:

Great website, easy to naviagte!

by:

As described

by:

Worthy upgrade to older racks. If you have a pre-2010 or so rack, this will make you curse less when taking your 29”+ bike along. It’s about 1.5-2” longer than the older ones.

by:

Had an old bike rack, was not sure parts were still available. Etrailer customer service was extremely helpful making sure I ordered what I needed. Thank You customer service.

by:

Exactly what I needed to upgrade an older T2 to accommodate my new 29” MTB. Reused the existing hooks, and made the swap. Everything was a direct fit, and the whole job took maybe 20 minutes. Added the One-Key lock set while I was at it, so now can leave the cable lock at home.

by:

Excellent product. Worked with my old sportworks bike rack, per feedback given by some. Glad etrailer still carries them.

by:

It fits great love it quick turnaround on the order

by:

It's fast received and perfectly fit to my roof rack great product thanks

by:

Wish it came with new lock nuts. Otherwise great

by:

Perfect part! A friend gave us this awesome rack because it was broke. Thanks to this $65 part this several hundred dollar rack will have 25 more years of service. Fast shipping, part was exactly what it was supposed to be. Well done!

by:

I bought this to replace the ratchet arm on an older Thule T2 Hitch Mount Rack to accommodate 5" snow bike and 29+ wheels. The arm is about 2" longer than the older model and makes all the difference on the fit (helps to have the wider tray for the front wheel). It measures about 27" end to center of mount versus about 25" on the older model.

by:

Bought new arms for my Thule rack to accomadate 29" wheels. Much cheaper option than buying a new rack. Arm's arrived on time from etrailer but unfortunately one had a very bent bottom bracket I had to deal with. Had to try to bend it back in place and thankfully had the tools to do so. Another buyer could have been stuck returning it. 2nd Arm came in perfect so may be a fluke. Would buy again from etrailer but giving this three stars

by:

Part is perfect. I have an original sportworks bike rack and the company sold to Thule and has been replaced by the T2. I was so happy to find the locking ratchet arm from etrailer.com which fits my rack because mine cracked and wore out. The new one is actually longer and will fit a 29r now. Im ordering another to replace the other old arm. I have upgraded for a very reasonable investment. Everything fits and works perfect. Thank you etrailer.com

by:

We have a classic Thule T2 bike rack that we bought way back in 2009-just before 29ers were a big thing. The old ratchet arms were too short for our new 2020 ebikes. These new replacement arms are 2” longer and work perfectly! Easy to replace. Ordering and shipping from trailer.com was so easy as well. Would recommend!

by:

etrailer is great. Good prices on replacement parts and excellent service.

by:

The replacement locking ratchet arm assembly I recently ordered was all I hoped it would be in that every part and fastener required to install it on the trailer hitch Thule 2 bike rack fit perfectly. I was very pleased that (A) it could be accomplished and (B) the parts were still available despite this particular rack being discontinued. A fine product. Many thanks.

by:

I ordered my bike rack back in 2009 before there were 29 inch bikes. I recently bought a 29er and realized these arms wouldn’t work for it. I looked up solutions, and etrailer had the replacement arm I needed. Got it quick. Install took maybe ten minutes. Very happy I didn’t have to buy a whole new bike rack.

Perfect Fit, Fast Shipping, Worth every penny.

I tell all my friends to buy from etrailer if they need a bike rack or bike rack part

  • Thule Sidearm Ratcheting Arm Will Not Stay Locked
This is the first time I have heard of this issue on the Thule Sidearm. The first thing I recommend checking is that the locks are seated all the way into the housing. Use the change key, # 853-1251 if you need it, to pull the locks out and put them back in. There also could be damage to the mechanism which could occur if someone tried to turn the lock beyond its natural positions, used excessive force, or if some crud got in there and gummed up the works. Similarly, if the arm was pushed...

  • Hardware to Install the Replacement Locking Ratchet Arm Assembly Part # 753-3579
Yes, you can use your existing hardware to install the Replacement Locking Ratchet Arm Assembly part # 753-3579. However, I would go to the local hardware store and purchase a new nylon insert lock nut as they are technically a one time use only product but I am sure you would be fine using you old nut. You will also need part # 853-1251 in order to transfer the lock core over.

  • Replacement Ratchet Arm Assembly for Older Thule T2 Hitch Bike Rack
I spoke with my contact at Thule regarding the Locking Ratchet Arm Assembly # 753-3579 referenced in your question. He stated that it does not appear that the replacement part has had any recent upgrades, but it will also depend on which particular model T2 you currently have as to whether or not this will be compatible. This ratchet arm is designed for older Thule T2 hitch bike racks TH916, TH916XT, TH917 and TH917XT. I did also go out to the warehouse to take a look at this part and measured...

  • Is there a Longer Locking Arm for a T2 Bike Rack to Load Bikes with 29 Inch Tires
Replacement Locking Ratchet Arm Assembly # 753-3579 is the same one that originally came on your T2 bike rack so it would not offer any additional length. There is a longer one, # 752-1272-001, which is 31-1/2 inches long overall which is about 2 inches longer than the original. It has been reported to fit the original T2 (916 or 917) but I cannot verify that.

  • Arm Assembly Needed for Thule T2 Classic with Cable Lock
The ratcheting arm assembly # 753-3579 that you referenced doesn't actually use a cable lock as the hook itself does the locking. You will need to add lock cylinders like part # TH450200 for this feature to work though. If you are wanting the arm assembly that uses the cable then you will want part # 752-1272-001 instead. I spoke with my contact at Thule who said that the cable isn't available separately because there are some springs inside that allow the cable to operate properly.

  • Difference Between 753357902 and 753-3579 Replacement Thule Ratchet Arms and Can I Lock Them
The arm part # 753-3579 replaces the ratcheting arm on the older Thule T2 bike racks that are no longer available which are the following bike racks: TH916, TH916XT, TH917, and TH917XT. The original arms on those bike racks came with locks cylinders originally so they were considered "locking" arms. However, the replacement arms do not come with a lock cylinder like the original bike rack did so you would need to use part # TH450200 as locks or use your old lock that came in the old arms....
